That is hard to determine, in this universe the Phoenix saga already past. So I would say no. Literally the Phoenix saga was the biggest series of episodes in the x-men 97 timeline so for them to return back on that would be a stretch. Professor X only saw gambits death because he was using his mind control at its fullest post gambits death. And writers already concluded that Sinister X is the big baddie in this season.

At 20:27, I think this is foreshadowing Gambit becoming the Horseman of Death and not Master Mold. There's a reason why Apocalypse is shown in the intro of episode 5 and 6 and why Mr. Sinister is being shown as the "Big Bad" of Season 1. When Sinister shows up, you know Apocalypse is lurking behind the scenes.

I believe the subjugated alien race was the Kymellians. They are from the Power Pack comic book series. Beta Ray Bill's race doesn't have horse heads if I'm remembering correctly. He only developed that when they cybernetically enhanced him to be one of their warriors to fight against demons. Though I could be wrong about that.

Those horsies look more like Kymellians, not Korbinites. Korbinites have flat-faces normally, it's only Beta Ray who looks horsie-like, and only when he powers up with Mjolnir or Stormbreaker. And, notably, Beta Ray Bill looks like a skeletal horsie when powered up. Kymellians had a hand in creating the Power Pack, who were often side characters related to the mutant cast without completely joining any X-folk.
