This was the only X-Men movie that did not have Logan in it, and to be fair, this movie was all over the place, the death of Mystique was so heavily rushed to the point that nobody felt heartbroken after Jean accidentally killing Raven except for Beast, I have no idea what they were thinking on even trying to continue with the past But days of future pass was the conclusion of its present so that could be reasonabl, even the villains themselves were incredibly irrelevant.

I went to see Hans Zimmer in Chicago last month and before he started the Dark Phoenix set, he said, and I’m paraphrasing, “you know when you do an amazing score for a bad movie and are upset because the movie was so bad? And I know it was bad because none of you went to watch it! So let me play something I know you haven’t heard.” 😂 I, however, enjoyed this movie. I know it’s not the best, but I do like the train scene and score. I was just happy to see another X-Men movie. 😅

It's kinda funny how Simon Kinberg admit that he was unsatisfied with the way X-Men The Last Stand turned out and decided to stab himself in the back even worse by doing the same storyline in his own hands

The only miracle that Dark Phoenix provides is its 6 minute opening sequence with young Jean Grey and Charles Xavier. Chronologically, you can watch that, turn off Dark Phoenix permanently and then watch Xmen Apocalypse. Xmen Apocalypse works so much more if you do that, and Sophie Turner's somber performance in Apocalypse makes much more sense.

In his defense, the movie he pitched was a 2 part film with a script already made and approved. Fox, when they began to start shooting, canceled the 2nd film and forced them to scrap their scrip and he(+ the cast), had to work overtime to rewrite the film while in the middle of filming. And initially, their villains were Skrulls, the movie was forced to be pushed back by Fox at the request of the creator of Alita Battle Angel. Captain Marvel came out a month later, revealing skrulls, which forced them to go back and re-do the entire 3rd act and remove all mention of Skrulls. Therefore, he and the cast were f over by Fox and the Disney deal(because their talks with Disney is what made them cancel the 2nd film).

Hard disagree. The Last Stand was trash. Character motivations and relationships from the past two movies were thrown out the window. The Phoenix was thoughtlessly shoved in and relegated to a throw away character whose purpose was to give Logan a last minute dilemma. And the final scene basically made the entire cure plot irrelevant. This movie had more flow and pacing issues, but the story was 100x better in every way.

But the performances are dope still and I love the action was great. One thing you guys touched that I was overjoyed about in this movie was that Jean and Scott like actually love each other here compared to the others. Sophie turner was great as Jean. I will say it was whack as fuck for them not to use the suits from the end of Apocalypse. All in all I enjoyed this. Thanks for watching

I'll never understand how the hell Fox gave Simon Kinberg a budget of $200 million for his directorial debut. That is absolutely insane and baffling. You don't start your directing career making a $200 million budget movie first, that's just never gonna work. Just because Kinberg wrote several X-Men movie scripts doesn't mean he's guaranteed to be good in directing a $200 million movie. It's absolutely insane how Fox let Kinberg get away with that. And ironically, Fox rejected the idea of Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin to direct their own Gambit movie as they haven't directed anything before but was willing to give Kinberg a $200 million budget for his directorial debut. It's absolutely nuts

Because of this movie, we may never see a proper live action adaptation of the Dark Phoenix Saga. It was already horribly done with X3 but this movie burned average audiences too much to ever trust seeing this saga done properly in live action. They could’ve just adapted the storyline almost beat for beat from the old animated series, it’s about the length of an average movie, but Simon Kinberg wanted to distance the movies from that series and the comics to the point where it hit him in the ass.

Nah. It's the writing. Best scene in this movie was the chess game at the end with Charles and Magneto. Why? Cause we know who they are. They've had development over 4 movies. Imagine if this series had stayed focused on them and their growing animosity as they pursue mutant rights in their respective ways. Fastbender and McAvoy have such great talent and chemistry. Instead you try to swing for the fences with characters like Apocalypse and Phoenix. It'd be like if Thanos showed up for Winter Soldier. Kinberg just doesn't inherent understand the value of character development and world-building. He basically introduces Jean, gives you the most important thing to ever happen to her and kills her all in 90 minutes. He throws cosmic level stuff like Phoenix and Apocalypse at you like they were just down the block waiting to show up. He speedran this sh!t.

The guys respects his audiences and the audiences pay him back by showing up to his movies and appreciate what he does. I like this movie, its a decent watch, far better than that pos Last Stand. The Dark Phoenix Saga is my favorite part of the X-Men comics and neither movie came close to following that story line. Last Stand didn't get anything right, this movie got how Jean got the power right, from being in space on the shuttle and that's it. It would take several movies to tell the story correctly, like how the MCU did the Infinity War with Thanos and all of those characters. The Phoenix Force is not good or evil, it just is, its a force of nature. Its powers are a step below God. Having that power be in a flawed creature like a human isn't the best thing to happen to the cosmos.

this movie have so many issues, one of those is jean phoenix side. In last stand, they put it as a part of her power and later personality. Here they dont know exactly what to do. While apocalipse show us that was apart of her power, here, it kinda tries to go for the cosmic identity. So... -Mystic been dead in the first minutes, witout any emotional attachment. In last stand, Rebecca's Mystic been left behind, when she saves Magneto and become human, it had more emotion. -Sophie performance as Jean. Jean was always warmth and kind... while Sophie had such distant and cold performance, even in apocalipse. It seems she was too attach to sansa. That she couldnt make a different role. In last stand, we could see the differences beteween jean and phoenix. Famke always made sure that we could understand who was who. Sophie, kinda looks bored all the time. it seems she was there for the pay check and have another character in her belt. -Jessica was wasted in this movie. She was interesting and was a good villain, but sadly, they wanted to focus so much on jean , that they barelly give space to others. Scott again, was just there. In this version, Scott should had have more space and most of the times, is the love of scott and Jean that save them. Sure they were teens, but their love goes above just romantice. They are psychic link connected as well. -I didnt personnaly enjoy phoenix make up... in last stand was more menace. Famke without makeup or cgi had a fierce look. Sophie even with the facial designed, kinda look she was holding her poop.

This movie gets a bad rap from a lot of sources, but it really is a legitimately well done Phoenix story arc for Jean. Though, i do wish the aliens were mor Shi-ar like.

This movie had great music and some great fight scenes with good use of the mutant powers. too bad the story was awful. We finally get an accurate Phoenix Force origin story, but it's just horribly handled.

Not "Mag-net-o". It's "Mag-nee-toe" Magneto.

Can anyone explain the inside joke of misnaming Magneto? It feels very rude to the character. Also Blue Grinch? Beast doesn't have any grinchlike qualities. The definition I know is a person who is mean-spirited and unfriendly.

She mispronounced his name at the start and just kept doing it even after being corrected. Simple as that. And there is a slight resemblance between Beast and Jim Carrey's Grinch, if you painted Beast green. It's not a personality thing, just a hairy face thing.

In a way, we almost have to be thankful for this movie being made. If it wasn’t made and didn’t bomb as hard as it did, Fox wouldn’t have needed to been bought out by Disney. and now because of that, the X-Men are now in good hands with Marvel Studios. And you know that since Kevin Feige worked on those original films and you know how badly he wanted to do the characters justice and do them faithfully, the next X-Men movie we get is going to be absolutely amazing

if you are going to sign on to be a character who has full body makeup in a long running franchise , maybe just think about it a little longer. really disappointing how Jennifer turned out

Ppl have the right to like what they like, just because most ppl are sheep and hate this movie because its a popular thing to do, some ppl arent wannabe purist fanatics and can actually enjoy the movie
@elliotadams34022 сағат бұрын
undermining your 'people have the right to like what they like' take a bit there by insisting that people who don't share your tastes are sheep 'wannabe purist fanatics'. Parts of Dark Pheonix are done well, but the film is a mess, its more than understandable that a lot of people hated it without needing them to be 'sheep'.

how were people fanatic sheep to this movie?! Most of the actors phoned in their performances for this movie (specially Jennifer Lawrence that thought she was too good for the franchise that she begged to be written of and could not bother to even do make up anymore), the story had nothing to do with the comics (what is the point of doing a comics movie if you are going to completely ignore the material?), the plot was all over the place.... so many other bad things that I could be here all day typing. If you treat fans like garbage they will treat you like garbage too. Look at Tom Cruise and the franchises he is in like "Mission Impossible" and "Top Gun". The guys respects his audiences and the audiences pay him back by showing up to his movies and appreciate what he does. Don`t be greedy by putting out nonsense just for the sake of selling tickets and merch., plan a good story and hire people that love to work on the IP, simple math, but it seems to elude the modern Hollywood and it`s audiences!
