24:30 Charles is a twin, but when he and his twin were developing in the womb and Charles' mutant gene developed and activated first, his immense psychic ability actually drained away the consciousness of his twin, leaving him a blank slate. The twin, as you can imagine, has the same mutant power but only one of them had the chance to develop. When Jean killed Charles in his original body, he used his powers just before dying to transfer his consciousness to his twin's body since it was just a blank husk. The Sentinels in this movie are way scarier and deadlier than in the comics. This movie is one of the few times when they actually improve upon something in the comics. In the comics, the Sentinels were often rather goofy and too easily taken down. Heck, there was one time in the comics where a Sentinel simply dropped dead because a random beam of light overloaded its sensors. This movie is also surprisingly accurate to the comics. The main difference is that Mystique was trying to assassinate Senator Kelly, not Bolivar Trask. Kitty sent herself back her younger self rather than sending Wolverine. And in the comics the Sentinels only took over the US, not the entire world. Still, this is one of the greatest comic book movies ever made. In fact, 2014 was a really great movie year. What I also love is that this is (and MAYBE X3) the only movie that does justice to Storm and shows her being a great leader and uses her powers in an interesting way (like creating a massive blizzard to slow down the Sentinel carriers, charging up Bishop and combing her power with Magneto's to take down a horde of Sentinels). The whole teamwork the mutants show against the future Sentinels is really creative and effective. Also, Charles can't freeze time. He can just put people's minds on pause. Also, Magneto throws the stadium on the White House specifically because he believes there's no chance of humans ever accepting mutants. So he attacks the president to make an example and trying to inspire mutants to revolt.

The body that Charles Xavier uses in the future, as Patrick Stewart, is the body of his twin brother who was the "brain dead" guy in the coma, thats why he looks the same after he got now to smithereens by Jean. I think they slightly alluded to that in X-men 3 but it was easily missed.

Apocalypse isn't a bad film IMO. It does a good job of representing the development of the later team, and while it's a bit on-the-nose with some of its points at times, it's a lot of fun, and I do recommend it: it's not so much a continuation of the stories as it is a link to tie the prequels more fully back around to the original film(s.) I believe the explanation for Charles surving to this film after his body was destroyed in The Last Stand is that he had an identical twin brother than was brain dead but still allive, and he has taken over that body, which you see him wake up in an end credit sceen of The Last Stand, I think it is why Charles appears to give up fighting Jean in his death sceen, because he is transferring his own consciousness to his brother's body
@erichb45303 жыл бұрын
sure, fine this convenient brother never mentioned in any of the movies (but I guess in the Comics because that format of course needs neverending storylines).. but if that's the explanation, why didn't they actually EXPLAIN IT IN THE MOVIE? he just SHOWED UP, and we're supposed to ask comic book fanboys to explain it to us? that's always been a huge stupid wrinkle in these otherwise really enjoyable movies.

@@erichb4530 I think that is just lazy writing, they needed it to happen, so it did, and just didn't explain it properly. "Disclaimer: I didn't see the Rogue Cut..." And many of us hadn't; but if the numbers are up and you release it here in KZbin, it would be a pleasure to take that particular film ride with you :). As you've mentioned: it's a bit hard to keep up, not only with the chronologies but also with the versions. Some were released alongside the "original version", some were released years later... one can't be sure if the extended versions or the new cuts add something else to the original story unless one asks in advance if they are worth it, so yeah: it's comprehensible. But don't be too hard with your selection, basically if you are "reacting for the first time" to Marvel Films, you are following the path every single person had to follow when the films first came out: the theathrical version first, and later on the discovery of extended cuts XD. "Avoiding spoilers" also implicates not knowing how good the existing extended cuts out there really are. "It's less gross when the claws are covered in Adamantium" It should be noted too that with the Adamantium cover they pierce through the skin more easily, in theory XD. And the sound is more metallic, not bone going through flesh :P. "Erick! Why you think killing her is better?" Because he doesn't know (and has never been really convinced) of the "middle ground". If Mystique was the key to develop the Sentinels of the future, that danger will always be with her for as long as she lives. How do you really make sure there is no way shape shifting technollogy is developed around her skills? Erasing her from the map. That plan has several flaws, but Erick sees it in the short time: no Mystique, no powers, no threaths to the mutants. "Natalie Gold's funny unintended expression" If those are a lot, they could make a nice little clip for the end of the year; with any remarkable bloopers XD. Just saying :P. "How cool it would be some things of the past movies and the plot could be undone" Wait for it... And yeah! Allow me to introduce you to the concept of "retconning" that comics use whenever they want to undo crazy stuff or bring back characters meant to be dead XD. It's nicely done here, though, since many of the choices were not well received in the past movies and so far there has not been any film featuring the 2000's original cast, but it was nice to see them back (basically undoing several things of the past films). And Jean has always been a redhead, but yeah, the first films don't boost her hair color a lot XD. And that would be it, nothing much to add to this reaction; it was great :). See you in the next one.

The reason Professor X looks the same despite having switched bodies is explained in Xmen 3. When you see Moira McTaggert she is caring for Charles's twin who was born without consciousness. When he "died" he transferred his own consciousness into his twin.

Eh, the Rogue Cut’s not necessary. It’s pretty good but the theatrical is fine. Not to say don’t watch it, go ahead. Kitty being able to send someone’s mind back in time is an extension of her phasing power I still remember watching this movie for the first time, watching Charles tie his arm and get out a needle and being like “Whoa! Whoa! WTF?!” And then sighing in relief when Hank says it’s a serum to treat his spine Trask was technically in X Men before. In Last Stand played by Bill Dukes as the head of the DHS and aid to the president during the war with the mutants. First name never said. On top of that, the giant robot they were fighting in the danger room in Last Stand had a more comic accurate Sentinel look. Or at least the head did. In the comics it actually is the case that Quicksilver’s perspective is everyone else going super slow. He compares it to being stuck behind someone who’s taking forever at an ATM, all the time The screenwriter speculated that Kennedy's mutant power manifested as a telepathic form of persuasion. The inconsistencies started with First Class. Remember in Last Stand when Xavier and Erik meet young Jean? Charles was already bald, yet still walking, and Erik was with him, implying their time as allies was a lot longer than depicted in FC. And in the first movie Charles says Magneto found some way to block his telepathy, not saying it’s the helmet, yet in FC he clearly sees Erik wearing it and knows he can’t get past it I’m sorry, it’s hilarious to me that you went so long thinking he was freezing time and not just the people. Like even in first class when he freezes a guy at the water fountain the water is still going 😂 It was his twin brother’s body he took over The look of the rebar in Logan is reminiscent of a moment in the comics when Magneto rips the adamantium out of him. Jean has always had red her. Though it was more vibrant when she was Pheonix En Sabah Nur with his _Four Horsemen_ in the background. His name translates to “The First One.” It’s not the name he’s generally known by. You’ll learn it.

If ever there's a time to recognise that people on Social Media, be it KZbin, Instagram or whatever, are people who take time out of their lives for our entertainment, most of who are balancing that alongside their actual jobs, and need to be able to relax, rest up and take time like the rest of us do then it's in a post-Covid world. Main issue with the theatrical cut is it doesn't explain how the Sentinels can absorb powers. Essentially Rogue's powers are the key to the basic premise of the plot.
