@@dylanwade9825I don't think they'll keep fassbender. Unkess they do a captain ameruca type of deal to explain how he's srill relatively young, his age will be a big issue for the mcu. Charles can be younger, all the other can be younger. But magneto needs his background story because it justifies his entire motivation. Without it, he's not magneto, he's just some guy with magnetic powers calling himself magneto. I'd love to see fassbender reprise as magneto, but I think they'll cast an older version and come up with an excuse for how he's still alive in 2027 or whatever the mcu year currently is

My ONLY huge gripe with this movie is how they handled Darwin. He's probably the most un-killable character to ever come out of Marvel. When he faced a raging mindless Hulk one time, instead of his body adapting to be able to withstand him, it just teleported him to the other side of the planet. He got turned into pure energy one time and fused with another mutant who had powers similar to Kevin Bacons powers. Then he eventually reformed his body. And in this he just dies so easily lol. My silly theory is he fused with Alex, since he gave him that last look and reached out to him. Alex is also an energy manipulator so maybe Darwins kicking around in there somewhere.

@V_4_Versace Sure. I would have linked my source in my comment, but you know how KZbin is lol. It's titled "Professor X & Magneto Were NOT Based On Martin Luther King & Malcolm X" by Screenrant, you can look it up. I pasted the key quote from the article in the paragraph below. For context, Chris Claremont is the most influential writer on the Uncanny X-Men comics and is the one who developed Magneto's backstory. He is also - like many early comic book writers - jewish, and spent some of his youth in Israel, hence his inspiration for basing Professor X and Magneto off of those two Israeli PMs. "'There’s a lot of talk online now that Magneto stands in for Malcolm X and Xavier stands in for Martin Luther King...but for me, being an immigrant white, to make that analogy felt incredibly presumptuous,' Claremont states. 'An equivalent analogy could be made to Menachem Begin as Magneto, evolving through his life from a terrorist in 1947 to a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 30 years later.'" (Menachem Begin is the PM Magneto was based on.) Hope this helps!

Throughout the first 3 “main series” X-Men movies, Magneto has a bunch of badass moments that were further accentuated by how strong of an actor Ian McKellen is. The first movie where he holds all the weapons against the cops at the train station, the second movie where he lays waste to Styker’s guards or when he reconstructs Cerebro. And the third movie where he wins over the crowd at the rally, or when he flips the semi truck like it’s nothing. Wasn’t sure how anyone else was gonna carry that badass energy as well as McKellen did going into this movie… and then 10:52 happens and is probably my favorite Magneto scene to date. On you're timeline question, First Class is canonical to the original trilogy even if it retcons some aspects such as showing Charles losing the ability to walk in the 1960s. If you recall back to X3 we saw an de-aged Professor X and Magneto meeting a young Jean Grey sometime in the 1980s where Charles was walking. He also showed up at the end of X-Men Origins: Wolverine once again de-aged and walking sometime in the early 1980s where he takes in all these captured Mutants. But beyond this First Class flows naturally into the original X-Men films where these characters will grow into their older counterparts seen in the original films. Timeline: X-Men: First Class - *1962* X-Men Origins: Wolverine - *Mainly 1979* X3's flashback - *1986* X-Men - *2004* X2 - *2004* X3 - *2006* The Wolverine - *Spoiler* X-Men: Days of Future Past - *Spoiler* Why did I exclude the other X-Men films? Well you'll learn about that when you watch Days of Future Past, can't explain for spoiler reasons.

Spoiler for Days of Future past (just in case anyone hasn't seen it yet, other than Alex...) . . . . Technically Professor X walking in the flashbacks in the trilogy don't HAVE to be retconned, since in Days of Future past Beast develops a drug that allows X to walk. X of course stops taking it because it prevents him from using his mutant powers, but in the time period in between there may have been other versions of the drug that had either less severe side-effects (perhaps just limiting his powers instead of preventing him from using them completely.) Of course, by the original trilogy time period X has given up on that and has just accepted being paralyzed.

That's true. By giving you an analogy, he's basically like your normal employee in a company who's not happy with his job and just doing it for the money. He's not happy with what his doing, he's not invested with what his doing but doing it anyways since he's earning money.

I literally SQUEALED like a girl when this notification popped up. YES! The timeline it’s EXTRA confusing for new watchers If they watch the saga according to release order. But once you get it you’ll be a pro explaining everything to a future first watcher. This movie is FIRE. I’m so ready to get home and watch this reaction. I love how you’ve been really into the storyline with these movies. This is Top 3 for me. Top 1 is DOFP: The Rogue Cut. PLEASE watch the Rogue Cut instead of original DOFP. I super recommend it. You were disappointed in Rogue on The Last Stand….. That’s all I’ll say!!

The only real bad thing about this is Darwin is not a character that can die. His mutation is to adapt to literally anything: "rapidly develop evolutionary traits to aid his survival." 1) Growing gills and webbed fingers and toes when submerged in water (as you saw) 2) Increasing liver function to prevent drunkenness 3) He can even become immune to nerve gas It's not within his control what his body does (he can merely influence it) as it adapts automatically. So one time he was fighting the Hulk, and instead of becoming stronger or more resilient or something, his body decided it was just best to teleport 3 states away. When he was about to be led into an ambush by a shape-changing Skrull he started giving off a chemical that caused Skrulls to take their natural form (and then had to run when he found out) and when he was touched by the death goddess Hela he became a death god himself since that was the only way he could survive her Death Touch. So... lots of people were upset when he just... dies in this movie. What was the point of having Darwin in the group instead of some other mutant?

This movie is underrated. I saw it for the first time about a year ago, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender did a great job portraying the younger versions of Charles and Erik. They did their best to portray two characters that Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen had already established. At this point, you’ve already seen the Wolverine 2013. So I wanna remind you that the upcoming Days of Future Past has an extended version. You’d have to rent it, but you’ll benefit from unlocking more of the story.

I completely agree with giving up on trying to follow the timeline because I too have given up 😂 I also think this movie was considered the rebirth or savior of the X-men series because it finally gave us so much depth and backstory of the beloved characters. It also gave us the comic inspired suits which (if I remember correctly) was a big upset with the first movies. Many didn’t enjoy the muted black look and wanted the colorful and non serious nature of the yellow suits. However taking in the battles superhero movies we’re dealing with at the time (not being wildly popular because “superheroes were for kids” and not taken seriously) making their original suits black was a way to help audiences take them more serious. In the age we are in now, colorful and out there suits are 99% of the time preferred. I am anxiously awaiting your Deadpool reactions (I know it’s still a few movies off) but mainly because I just know you will love them so much but also so I can geek out in the comments about the Deadpool 3 news!!

Another thing is that this movie is filled with so many iconic moments, especially the coin kill(which is probably my favorite scene in x-men history), it’s amazing and I love it.

the funny thing is, the story line that happens in the movie is actually a variation of the actual original comic from back in the 1960's and they did use the cuban missile crises as the debute launch point for the X-Men but with a different lineup on both sides.

11:00 This entire scene was pure awesomeness. Also that move of stabbing the dude's hand, magnetically throwing it and retrieving it, and stabbing the dude's hand *again* was just so perfect. 11:40 X-Men: First Class was Jennifer Lawrence's seventh movie, but definitely her first MAJOR film role. From here, up through the rest of the X-Men Prequel Trilogy and the Hunger Games movies, Lawrence was a big name. She still is, but after the decline of the X-Men movies *and* the Hunger Games movies, you can clearly see from her filmography that she's dropped quite a bit from the top of Hollywood (no fault of hers, but it's hard to survive having not just one, but *two* big franchises you were a star in just... decline). 13:45 That dude plays Dr. Charles in the Chicago TV series. 22:50 Alex Summers. He's Scott Summers (aka. Cyclops)' brother. Also, since none of the movies ever reveal it, but Nightcrawler is the son of Mystique and Azazel (the red-skinned dude with a tail).

11:34 The thing about the Frankenstein monster line was he was telling them they’re Frankenstein he’s the monster they created Cause I’m not sure if you seen the grass the concept there there in Argentina were many Nazis were found to have gone after the war ended to get away from being persecuted for their crimes magneto is from a Jewish concentration camp. That’s why they freak out it, just seeing the number on his arm, and they realize instantly what he’s there for as soon as he said that their names were taken from them, they knew he was Jewish and a victim of them.

Fun fact to point out...one of the other photos on Charles' nightstand at the beginning of the film is Hedy Lamarr, who in addition to being a famous actress and sex symbol was also an inventor. She heard that the US Navy was working on a radio guidance system for torpedos but was concerned that the signals could be jammed by the Nazis. In response, she came up with a system that allowed frequencies of the radio signal to change fast enough to avoid interference, called frequency-hopping. Although the guidance system was never built, the principles of the system she invented later became the basis of Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and 2- and 3-G cellular telephone systems.

My only problem with this movie is how dirty they did Darwin. His power is WAY stronger than that. In the comic, he touched Hela, the Goddess of Death. Which is insta-kill, because Goddess of Death. His power turned him into a God of Death so he'd survive it. Like... it literally changes reality to make sure he survives. He should haver turned into like... a burning mini-sun so he could tank the heat (and destroy the whole building or something).
