Okay good, you realize how Xavier came back. BUT! Something not said in the movie, but is said in the commentary, that man without conciousness is Xavier’s twin brother. So he’ll still look like himself Rogue’s power absorbtion has always been temporary, unless she touches someone long enough to keep them permanently, which either kills them or puts them into a coma. And she’s not crazy about doing that. There’s a really good episode in S2 of the original 90s cartoon called A Rogue’s Tale that goes into her backtory and how she has her other powers permanently. Highly recommend And if you want a good adaptation of the Phoenix story, also watch those episodes of the old cartoon

You're assuming they think before saying things. Remember these aren't people that are hard X-men fans, they are normal people watching a movie. To be fair I hate the fact they did that in the movie personally. These movies started by barely getting Rogue right in the movies and they go full circle to making her not the character she should have been. Really frustrating. The problem with reaction people though is most of them say things without actually thinking, and if they don't have a full understanding of the thing they are watching, of course they are going to come to dumb conclusions or dumb reasons for said conclusions.

In the comics Phoenix is able to obliterate entire solar systems within seconds, Rouge would have 0 chance against her. Even in the movies Jean is still a level 5 telepath so she would be able to "see" Rouge's intentions. She's also a level 5 telekinetic so she can erect a barrier around herself that exists even when she is rendered unconscious (just like she did in the lake). Again 0 chance. But I did appreciate your passion. Its really cool that your both geeking out about Marvel. Makes me smile. Look forward to seeing more.
@sorroww0lf1795 ай бұрын
As always love the reaction, with 1 exception. Your take on Rogue. Now it's true, Rogue in the comics ultimately grows to her full potential and retains mutant abilities. Like she's really strong, can fly, and some other stuff, but your reaction was so striking, imo. You really would choose to live with great power, but never have contact. Like no hugs, kisses, or sex? You really think a 18 to 20 yr old woman, that is in love, would want to die a virgin? In the comics/animation, she isn't a virgin, but pretty sure that's because she learned to absorb Magneto's power and then they could have contact. But in these 3 movies that's not a thing, so Rogue's decision to take the cure, makes sense to me. And the fact that both of you reacted the way you did was kind of shocking. Oh well good reaction anyway. I hope you intend to watch the First Class movie series.

As much as you two hated Rogue for taking the cure, it's understandable why she would. Going without human contact and intimacy is something very difficult to grasp if you don't think about it and can easily be taken for granted. Imagine not being able to hug the people you love without potentially putting them into a coma. The cure for people who had difficult powers to control or can't deactivate is a valid reason for taking it, like somebody who's power is to permanently radiate harmful radiation or is always on fire or something like that. Also, Rogue only had those powers in the animated series and the comics (for a period of time) because she held onto Captain Marvel for a long time and it lasted longer.

To be fair, the main reason most people disliked the movie actually has nothing to do with the movie itself. It has to do with the Phoenix Fire itself, since it was never supposed to be 'part' of Jean, it is an alien being that inhabits other beings, (which they do sorta retcon.) The main reason Rogue isn't the most powerful in the movies is simply because she didn't become so powerful without the powers belonging to the Avengers, and since at the time Marvel movies were split all over the place between different studios, and Sony didn't have the rights to some of the characters that made Rogue powerful, it left her pretty much without a proper place. The best part (to me) of the movie is that they actually allowed themselves to go completely dark, which let's face it, if this movie didn't exist, Infinity War and Endgame wouldn't exist...

In regards to Rogue she does have the potential to become one of the strongest mutants depending on the powers she absorbs, but the downside is that she HAS to physically touch them. A telepath like Jean could turn Rogues brain off before she’s even in the same city as her. Also in regards to Rogues powers in the comics and from what you see in the Xmen 97 show, the length of time Rogue gets someone’s powers is entirely dependant on how long she touches them. The reason she has flight and super strength is because in the comics she held onto Ms.Marvel (Captain Marvel in the MCU) for so long that she essentially got her powers permanently for free in addition to still having her draining touch.

55:41 No, Achara. They didn’t change Rogue’s powers between the movies and the animation. The way she got her flight, strength and invulnerability was from touching and holding on to Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers) for too long. That follows with what the Professor told Logan after the nightmare incident with Rogue. She actually ended up putting Danvers in a coma as a result. This is not to be confused with the MCU Carol Danvers. That character and her background were massively rewritten. Yes, I’ll give you the part about “gimping” her here but that was done because as much as they talked about her feelings towards having her powers they didn’t really touch on her feelings towards using her powers. We find out in the animated series that she retains memories and even part of Danvers’ psyche after stealing her powers away. This is the main impetus for Rogue’s choice to refrain from using the powers she was born with and instead relying on what she took from Danvers.

Professor X transfered his consciousness into the man in the hospital. Magneto and Rogue will regain their powers as the "cure" is only temporary. One thing the movies failed to do is showcase the leadership of Scott Summers/Cyclops and the friendship between Jean and Storm. P.S. Jean would kill Rogue (or anyone) before they touched her. A lot of people dunk on this movie (mostly comic fans who can't stand when the movies divert from the comics), but I actually like it. The story is interesting, the action is epic and the music is great. Works for me! P.S.: would have made more sense to cure Jean instead of killing her. That's a point ... P.P.S.: Rogue is a "weak human being" for wanting to be who she wants to be? Think about that for a second, in real worlds terms. Coincidentally Ellen/Elliot Page is playing Kittie Pryde in this movie.

The thing about Rogue's power is she can't really control it. You touch her skin and it just happens. With Scott, his lack of control comes from a brain injury, so that could be overcome eventually. But with Rogue, it seems to be more instinctive, something her conscious mind has no involvement in, like Logan's healing factor. He doesn't make himself heal, it just...happens. Speaking of Logan's healing, in one comic he was fitted with cuffs that nullified his powers. He could still pop the claws, because they aren't a power. They're biological, like a cat's claws. They rest in his forearms, and emerge up through his hands when he extends them. And yeah, this was the last. They didn't expect to be making more, so they just swung for it. It also didn't help that the guy with final say sees the film industry as a means of selling toys, so doesn't care about actual...ya know...quality.

Here's why fans were disappointed with X3: The Phoenix was nerfed, severely. The Phoenix force is a being of immense power that can destroy galaxies. The Phoenix could have wiped out the planet during the final fight, instead she just dusted everyone and was playing with the environment. Also, the movie didnt know what it wanted to be, was it about the cure or Jean and her plight? Because the focus was split they couldnt fully focus on either plot point. And Cyclops was done dirty throughout the first two movies. Dude is basically the mutant Captain America and they cut James Marsden from X3 since he was also filming Superman Returns. Hugh Jackman played such an amazing Wolverine that the series became Wolverine & the X-Men. "Back then" they didnt do more than a trilogy so the way they wrapped this movie up left it open for more but also critical response to X3 killed any (immediate) sequels.

In the comics Phoenix is an extremely powerful cosmic entity that possesses Jean, completely flips out and literally destroys a galaxy, So they kind of had to de-power her in these movies haha

0:43 The actor playing John Grey (Adrian Hough) voiced Nightcrawler in the "X-Men '97" series. Desiree Zurowski, who plays Elaine Grey really DOES look a lot like Famke Janssen. Great casting.

So in regards to Rogue, the reason she is how she is in the movies is cause she's the teen character who joins the group. Think similar to Jubilee in the OG 90s cartoon. She hasn't had time to figure out her powers and not enough in-movie time has passed for her powers to mature. In any X-men media the new character generally is only finding their power and flounders a bit before they get a handle on what they can do. But still, considering Iceman's powers evolved from X2 to this movie...yeah, they still did Rogue dirty XD I'm super happy Kristen is an X-Men fan and am looking forward to all t he future X-Men content with you two as a duo! I'm sure Achara is looking forward to some specific X-Men '97 episodes for Kristen to watch!! :P

Ladies, Professor Charles isn’t really gone remember he looked at Wolverine and was smiling before he exploded. Charles is alive, remember when he was talking to his students about When a person acquires great power the use or misuse of that power becomes everything. Remember the case study the man with no brain function when Charles asked what if we were to transfer the consciousness of into the form of this man. This is exactly what happened before Charles imploded he transferred his consciousness into that same man with terminal cancer. This is how Charles is still alive

Hello Achara & Kristen!😊 Fox had bought the rights to X-Men after Marvel had filed for bankruptcy. The rights would revert back to Marvel if Fox stopped making X-Men films. To keep the rights they came up with the prequels. Sony did a similar thing with Spider-Man, rebooting the films with different actors to hold onto the rights as long as they could.

I always enjoy Kristen’s perspective in these watch alongside. Achara, as well. You’re both awesome. It’s pretty solid that they did pretty much everyone dirty in this movie. There’s a reason why most of the continuity of this movie was tossed into the bin. Or maybe it’s better described as the blender, because after this continuity becomes a strange mess. Fox never stopped racing that Phoenix Saga and always rushed it.

54:30 Amen!!!!! Rogue started out as a villian for the Avengers. That's how insanely powerful she was. Obviously, she becomes a hero later. But the draw back is that she absorbs their memories and some of the people's personality traits. Also, yeah the powers stay with her temporarily *No Spoilers for Kristin* but the only way she can keep someone's powers/abilities if she holds on to the individual for to long. That's how she keeps them. Hope this makes sense! 🙏🏽💪

Actually the comic fans were mostly pissed about how the Dark Phoenix storyline was extremely glossed over. The character deaths are all pretty much par de course for X Men. As well as the fact that staying dead is hard in Marvel Comics land. Can't wait for you to watch Nightmare of Future Past. In particular as big Mystique fans.
