Nice job, I flew in all 3 seats of this aircraft with Northwest Airlines. Your presentation was fun and accurate well representing what it takes to fly the B727.

Thank you so much, I worked with the 727 for many years on the ramp. I got pretty emotional when I saw Capital Cargo International retire them and we turned the last one.

Love your videos, Jeff! You are such a great pilot and you make videos like this super interesting, keep it up! Can't wait to see more of this.

Since you asked, the pack cooling doors can be thought of similar to cowl flaps on a recip plane. In this case, the objective is to control the temperature of the AC Packs. When these doors are open, the inlet and cooling exit are wide open and create drag.

26:16 Omg that sound! I can't believe you actually flew one of these; that must have been quite an experience! As a student pilot just starting my multi, I can't imagine what it's like to fly one of these beasts. Great content man!

Definitely need to buy this one been putting it off for ages. Also when climbing, leave the power at the appropriate climb thrust and use your nose attitude to control airspeed. If you're keeping to 250 kt below 10,000 you'll need something like 15 degrees nose up. We fly by power and attitudes, that's fundamentals. If I was instructing you I would've wacked you over the head with a newspaper! Then for the 727 the charts state a normal climb schedule of 310/0.78. So after 10,000 feet, lower the nose to accelerate to 310 kt IAS and hold that until the point at which 310 = 0.78M, at which point you'll pitch to maintain that mach number to your final cruise level (IAS will now start reducing as you climb!). For those interested the charts say a cruise power of 1.86-1.88 EPR for his weight at FL320, with fuel burn in the order of 4196 kg/h (9231 lb/h)!!!

Enjoyed it, as always! Great touchdown. LOVED the in-flight shots of the instruments and the second "overhead" fly-by landing shot. Just like a plane-spotting video. Bought the upgrade to this fantastic plane today. Study-level! The 727: one of my faves ever since I watched Braniff 727s taking off in real life in the late 70's...

FlyJSim needs to make the classic MD-10. My ideal aircraft collection set is at least... 2 good GA airplanes, 3 or more commercial airplanes (one big an high tech like 787 or A350, one small 737 or A320 AND one classic commercial jet). All study level. I think the Md-10 would be the best classic commercial jet.

Man I was really hoping Indianapolis was on the list for this episode. On that note, im a construction worker in Indiana and i've heard that the Indianapolis Intl. Airport will be getting a new major runway just for the FedEx hub. As well as double the amount of gates to hold more aircraft. The new runway will be placed across to the south of I-70 and the taxi way will cross over I-70 that runs parallel to the airport. The first phase has already started so it will be a couple years before any noticeable differences are seen.
@ModernCam165 жыл бұрын
How big is the Fed Ex going to be. Use to work for DHL and we do all of amazons shipping but they are building their main hub at Cincinnati's airport so hopefully they build another runway because this hub is suppose to be able to hold more than 120 aircraft

@Brimmlinn6 жыл бұрын
You would have been okay with the over MLW scenario as you would have burned off the fuel and become under the weight limit. Side note. I like how the built in fuel selector follows the 727 guidelines. Any fuel load under 34000 you divide by 3 and put in each tank. Over 34000 the rest goes in the center tank.

Great video and flight! I was an aircraft mechanic on contract to capital air at Austin Texas in around the late 90s. Then worked for Emery Worldwide right across the ramp from FedEx before they got shut down. Miss working on some of the old school planes like the 727s and DC-8-73s. If I recall didnt Capital Air 727 have the winglets?
@yurandicianni10556 жыл бұрын
Love the videos, but remember that you pitch for speed and power for altitude when you're coming into land. You're on the backside of the power curve so the plane won't behave like it's in cruise! Other than that, awesome video!

The white stripes on the manual stab trim wheels are not correct, they should be 90 degrees apart for max leverage when both crew members are operating them.

Very nice video, Jeff!. Nice flight! Congratulations! I have only 2 issues about the flight: 1- You could use the Flight Director, in all phases of flights. It helps for situational awareness; 2- In Austin you did a backcourse approach to rwy 17, itsn't? I like so much the flight and gonna go subscribe your channel. Thank you.

@Belchmaster414 жыл бұрын
most planes don't have stairs unless you are boarding outside of the terminal
@braydensandau48284 жыл бұрын
Belchmaster41 yea, but those stairs aren’t part of the plane most of the time, these stairs are like on the md80’s and stuff and they come down in the back of the plane so that if it wasn’t parked at a gate they didn’t have to take the extra time to get someone to drive some stairs over to them.
@AhmedRaza-ll5yv3 жыл бұрын
@@braydensandau4828 Stairs should have been part of the plane since the beginning of the commercial aviation. Surely, it seems MD was the only one back then to include stairs as part of plane itself retractable stairs were in MD 80s (in front door). Not sure what are the down sides of planes having their own set of stairs. Can someone shed some light on this?
