This is the first of your videos that I came across about a week ago. I subscribed to your channel immediately. Your presentation style is calm and level unlike some others that like to use annoying music, sounds, etc. I'm overseeing a small business incubator in the States and your videos have helped us to figure out some of our tech purchases. Please, keep making tech review videos in 3D printing, scanning, laser cutting and related "makerspace" equipment. You cannot make enough "how to videos" for this subscriber.

Thanks for posting this vid Ricky. I bought the 10W D1 Pro in the fall before the 20W was available to me. I also have the enclosure and air assist. I find the fan in the enclosure is weak and have purchased an inline fan and 3D printed adapters to hook it up to the 3" hose from the enclosure. I haven't hooked it up yet because I want to make sure the Xtool is where I want it before mounting the inline fan to a wall or table. I also have the Buster Beagle grid but want to cut a spoil board to use it with. The honeycomb bed does work very well and I've 3D printed pegs to hold material in place and/or for locating material for multiple jobs. I've downloaded Lightburn but so far XCS has done everything I need it to do and they do keep updating it with more features. I've found that when using WiFi some jobs can quit part way through. I haven't had that issue with a laptop connected via USB. Overall I'm quite happy with the purchase and may consider the new 40W in the future.

Great video. really interested in getting a laser engraver this year, loving your content, thanks for the review :)

Glad you liked it. They open up a whole world of possibilities that I'm only just getting into.

I’m very interested in seeing laser engraving with 3D printed materials. Since engravers are top down only on a completed part and generally a flat surface I think the uses are limited. However to that point, an engraving laser capable of multi-axis is a somewhat terrifying thought.

I have to add a second comment.....My wife is a quilter and also makes dolls. I have been about to help her by cutting fabric for her. I have been able to cut cardboard and acylic guides for her long arm quiltng machine.

Hi, what is your opinion on the Snapmaker Ray 20 W compated to the XTool D1 20W?

Can this laser cut any color of acrylic or no ?

I literally subscribed to you a few weeks ago, because I received a 3d printer for my birthday. But extra perk, I also have the d1 pro 20 watt with the enclosure and air assist. I love it, but... I am still getting a lot of smoke in my woodshop shop even with an extra fan venting out the window. I find myself not enjoying it quit as much due to the smell. Curious if you have the same issue. Note I use a power strip and smart outlet to turn on the fan via Alexa.
@RickyImpey Жыл бұрын
Hi, nice to have you on board! I only had the smoke problem when I didn't use the enclosure. I find it's fine when I use it. Do you have an enclosure for yours? I really don't like smelling of smoke when I go it the house otherwise.
@pdxgigi720 Жыл бұрын
@@RickyImpey Thanks for the reply, Ricky. Yes, I have the enclosure and I even bought a inline fan to add to the existing fan and vent it out the window! I must say that the only time I have the smoke issue is when I'm cutting. I don't have to cut with it I have plenty other machines( cabinet saw, bandsaw) that do that, but it is one of the reasons I purchased the laser. I'll probably try giving them a call. perhaps it's user error.

Would you still recommend the Pergear given its significant lower price when compared to the XTool?
@RickyImpey Жыл бұрын
The Pergear 10w is good. It just has less features and a lower powered laser. I think you get what you pay for with each. I don't really use the Pergear now I have the xTool but only because I don't have room to have them both setup. I would say to buy the one that suits your budget.

How is it operating after a few months? Have you had to replace anything? Is the performance still good? What future costs do you expect?

Dammit, I was just about to buy the Pergear....!

😁 Sorry Esther. The Pergear engraver is good but half the power of this one.

@@RickyImpey Think I'm going to go for an Atomstack X20 Pro - As they have just released the X30 Pro, (very similar in price to D1P) it's on offer and comes with built in air assist, plus I can bundle in a honeycomb base (and probably more things, but I'm already out of my price comfort zone!) for less than the D1P. Also I'm happier with something that seems less proprietary than the Xtool. Still time to change my mind though!
@RickyImpey Жыл бұрын
@@estherturner1564 Atomstack machines are popular. Many of the others are just rebranded Atomstack models (including my Pergear). You will have a lot of options on accessories as and when you want them too.

You lost me when you said light burn is not wireless. They should do an update to solve this because it’s what everyone uses.

I enjoyed your review. However my experience with the D1Pro 20w has been a nightmare. The tool cam with a stripped thumb screw that keeps the laser from focusing. Worse than the poor quality of the machine however is their nonexistent tech support. I’ve been trying to get them to respond to me via chat, email, voice mail, and even stalking execs on LinkedIn, but nothing. I’m afraid I’m stuck with a $1,500 piece of junk. I’d return it if I could get someone to respond.

EVERY 3D Printer Seems To Be OBSESSED With These Now. They're GARBAGE! They Don't Even Look Good. EVERYTHING Is BURNT! Not "Engraved". Complete Crap. Like The People Bragging About Their New Toy, In Their Lifeless World. LOL!
