I still think locke looks better in both modes. Love how the wheels come out of the leg during transformation that was cool. But my god that is a fidgety transformation. Complex transformation can be quite fun for me if tolerance, clearance, and solidity are in place, but this transformation seems a little frustrating oof.

I like mine. Transformation is a pain though. Same issue on the weird wing mirror shaped part on mine. And vehicle mode needed some tabs filing a little to fit. The instructions to transform are awful and nothing like what needs to happen

@@Benscollectables i came to the same conclusion as you on saturday when he arrived. Turn the head sideways and position the panels in that particular way to get it through. Also leave the arms till after even though the instructions say before. So great minds think alike Im also not sure on the screws holding the wing mirror things on, or the wheel assemblies if you are not careful they will be easy to break.

Locke's got a hell of a lot cleaner backpack, but I'm not real keen on the buttflap origami. And just going with full honesty I think I may prefer the Koot head sculpt and lower legs more.

I swear Kup is like the bane of every designers existence. Nobody can seem to make one that both looks good and the transformation isn't a nightmare. SS86 came close, but the chest proportions still look too off. Im still holding out hope MMC will throw their hat in the ring with a Kup later down the line. They may not have the best paint. But their sculpts are generally pretty good, but they by far have the best engineering of the big three 3p companies, if any company was gonna balance sculpt and engineering well it's gonna be them.

XTB has at least 3 yrs to work on it and make improvements based on FT. This means XTB suppose to be a better version. But if you think the quality level is acceptable of this one then I have nothing to say. Tbo, for a toy costs 160usd I need it to be on certain quality level. If FT makes a 2.0 version 3 years later, I’m sure it will looks better than XTB, same logic. Imo this XTB kup is a fail

As much as I like this version of Kup, I must say, the best representation of *the character itself* has to be "Titans return" The idea of him being able to drive himself as a beat up old truck just feels right, and the idea of him trying to start himself and saying "come on you piece of junk!" is even better.

the other panel-heavy transformers I have at least fit or "locke" in like they're designed to go there. This is just an early 20th century artist experiment with several planes in space.... so messy in the engineering dept and more fun to shove a carrot through your eye.

I’d like to see the head go through the slot without a jump cut. Looked like a panel wasn’t going to go through easily then...jump cut “its through!!” Also, the QC for this figure, even with Ben’s kindness towards it, was all over the board. Pieces had to be flexed to move from one area to the next, one piece was too tight while another was floppy, that waist joint at the ab crunch and the other at the slider looked so lose and flimsy that I’m afraid that it’s inevitably gonna break, and there’s a tiny pin holding the entire leg together at the hip that may inevitably fail as well. This is the 4th review I’ve seen with the exact same issues and FB posts haven’t faired any better. I want everyone to be happy with their purchase, however my hopes aren’t real high for this one. Because of this and their past QC issues, I’m passing on their Springer.

I purchased this on pre-order so I did not get to see any reviews. I just recently transformed this for the first time where I was in total transformation hell! Along the process I noticed my right wheel rivet was not placed in well, which made the wheel extremely loose, parts that were glued came off, and the right leg is a complete disaster. The right leg wheel will not extend out of the port with ease. The upper area metal panel that moves with the wheel makes contact with the bottom metal panel that folds in. I had to manipulate it with some force to get it to come through. I am unable to extend the right leg out to get a proper fitting. This makes the rear right area unaligned in alt mode. The complete transformation process was about parts grinding over one another. The experience was quite an endless disappointment. X-Transbots, this is UNACCEPTABLE! The only positive I can give was watching this current video to assist with my transformation. Thank you Ben for enduring the painful process while creating your presentation.

I believe this is all due to a shitty factory , they put up a big notice about it and have recalled the figure from sellers … nice to see they are listening to fans , not sure what’s happening with those that bought the figure and have the problems though

I've have a love hate relationship with XTB because of their engineering...but a couple things I've learned dealing with XTB release: 1) *always* follow the order of instruction...these are not bots you jump into and transform. 2) The often have little subtleties to their transformations that aren't apparent until you've transformed it a few times. 3) They often like multiple moving parts in their transformations...they don't always follow the "step 1, then step 2, then step 3" rule. 4) Always keep your fingers at the pivot points and don't force anything trying to use another part of the toy as leverage. Jury is out for me on this one, and I'm not going to make any real judgement til it's in hand. XTB's engineering can be a complete cluster eff, but if you follow the tips it can make it less dreadful. I also wonder if these were rushed out the door before the chinese new year and if later part of the run will be better. Sometimes when you pre-order you get to be the beta tester. edit: and now I'm a bit nervousy as you said the instructions were poop lol.

I own Koot, I think he looks better in both modes, even if with a bigger backpack. And there is a little mod to shave off some plastic which will allow his wheel piece (I forget) to turn more, which gives much better clearance for moving the other piece around the wheel piece, and once you have that mod done it is kind of easy to transform

Since I already have Koot, I put my Transformers money for the month on Xtransbots Springer. Fans Toys Koot looks toon accurate to Kups older look. His colors are brighter in flashbacks, making him look much younger. I think that Xtransbots version looks like the young Kup which is cool, but I want the old Kup. I also want to wait until I know more about the breaking issues.

I just got a pair of Locke’s in the mail toady. ‘1 for showing, 1 for blowing’ as Robin Williams said in “Robots.” Apart from opening 1 up, I haven’t done anything with it yet. But he looks & feels good from just lightly picking him up & playing with him with him a bit. Not a floppy mess. I bought mine basically just off the CGI renders that I saw YEARS ago because I thought that it was better sculpted than the FT version. And don’t get me wrong… I LOVE FT’s stuff… but once I transform these guys once or twice… they pretty much just sit on my display untouched. Unless I take 1 down & kinda fiddle with it. I think last year Koot was going for about $250-280 per figure… & you kind of have to be somewhat realistic about how much you’re willing to pay for something like this. At least that’s my opinion. At best I normally pay $300 for 2 figures… & I didn’t want to pay $600 for a pair. I’m a big fan of FT because they’re known for their quality, but I just think the inflation with these

figures was overblown & there was price gouging going on. Wu Han/Covid was just an excuse. I don’t want to get into politics, but the whole Wu Han/Covid thing reminded me of a mix of 911 & the AIDS epidemic back in the 80’s… & how that was handled. I’m 45… so I was an 80’s kid… & since I’m sure that there will be people on here that might have not been around in the 80’s (or forgot or didn’t know this)… but did you know that Fauci was also involved in the medical response of the AIDS epidemic back in the 80’s when it was a big thing? In the end he just kind of slinked away because it became know that he was heavily invested in at least a couple pharma companies…maybe producing an anti-AIDS vaccine. The problem with that was there was a conflict of interest. Here he’s got to stay impartial, but it looked like he was making money off a drug that he was pushing & was invested in. Like what’s been suggested the last year or so. And it came out when Clinton was president that the government was caught purposely re-infecting people with older strains of the AIDS virus to what looks like was an attempt to keep it going… or get as many people infected so that there would be higher infection rates. What I found interesting was each time that someone new was infected with a certain AIDS strain, it became progressively weaker each time someone new caught it where they’d be a carrier & get someone sick… but wouldn’t die (unless they had a weakened immune system) like a lot of people were when it 1st started. But the USA government was caught purposely injecting people with older strains of the virus so that the death rates were higher. Or kept higher. And the fact that some countries are still on lockdown… other 1’s are not… I feel that the system has been exploited. Even as something as simple as this. Kind of a rant… but you get my point.

And maybe you should watch more of his reviews, because he does point out some failings in figures. Granted he doesn't use more crude language like "Oh this sucks" or "This figure from [Insert Brand Name Here] shouldn't be purchased....he's a little more cultured, a little more particular with his words...maybe that is what escapes your viewing...There are plenty of reputable reviewers out there that will use these terms, including Bobby, that you will go for...Even when their own bias is clear as the nose upon your face. SO instead of decrying the very material he happily provides, you should work, as he does, to provide that "raw" take on figures and brands...ya know toss you hat in the ring. Till then, I don't believe @Benscollectables is doing anything wrong on his channel. He provides more than adequate material that people can view and work from, jump cuts included, He doesn't need to tell you whether you should buy a figure or not, He hopes that one is mature enough to make that decision on their own.

I have got mine today. Looks the same as Ben's. No paint issues or gappy legs. Also the hand slide joints have been tightened, it seems. Won't pop out as easy. I'm based in the Netherlands. Maybe a different batch? I don't feel the urge to transform him (looks like a pain in the buttocks). He looks great so I posed him and put him on my 86 movie shelf.

I've been avoiding to share my opinion on the MX-XI Locke, firstly because I never had it in hand and second because I choose Koot instead. Ppl tend to think that because I have Koot I will try to justify my purchase by trashing his competitor. The truth is, if by any chance I happen to buy a figure and then another company releases a better version of that same character I will just sell mine and buy the other. I will admit that the one I bought is worse without blinking and I never felt the need to justify a figure I bought. The answer to why I bought any of the figures I own is always the same and it's on the tip of my tongue... because I wanted. Locke is a good looking figure that seems a bit too flimsy and badly engineered transformation wise. I've heard a lot of stories about breakage and even though I also heard good things being said about X-Transbots costumer service, it's something that should've been avoided before and not corrected after. In my opinion Koot looks better in both modes and seems like a sturdier figure (I say seems because I never had Locke in hand but I can attest for Koot's sturdiness) so I can't see why the collectors would want to change one for the other and I'm very glad I went with Fans Toys. I understand the collectors who waited for so long for this figure, that gave up on the chance to get Koot when it was rereleased waiting for this one and are now frustrated and disappointed. All this it got me second guessing my Springer option, I choose X-Transbots Virtus and I'm starting to get a bit anxious about that choice. What if it's as disappointing as this one? Man I'm sure starting to question myself about it. Thanks for the review Ben, compared to most of the other reviewers I saw trying to transform this figure you did an excellent job and redeemed yourself from the Transcraft Bee transformation ;)

Looks like I'm the only here who would change my Koot for this one. Love how clean he looks and his alt more and arm poseability looks better. I can never pose my koot outside of "holding his gun upwards". The rest of the poses make him look awful. Love this one's alt mode better as well, although I never transform my figs

I have owned Koot and sold him a year ago or so. Fortunately I don't really care about Kup, so I am ok without having him in my Masterpiece collection. And this figure doesn't really do anything to change my mind.

Backpack is still bulky, but a massive improvement on Koot, IMO. Sadly, Locke doesn't seem to check off enough other boxes to warrant owning both, but then, I still own TW Crank, so this might just be a case of me waiting for the right sale price to pick him up anyways.

I picked Koot up with some special discount-day discount last year as I got tired of waiting for this one. Then this one suddenly resurrected and got released. But there were so many bad reviews with serious flaws I think I dodged a bullet. I would bet money the 2nd run has all these issues fixed, but the same happened with Dragstrip and the G2 version. Why didn’t XTB learn from that? I hope Springer isn’t as bad, I did preorder him. 😅

Oh Ben Ben...after completing xtb monolith aka menasor i was impressed, such a unique piece of engineering ! A beast have him on my shelf with the add on kit its impressive, seams that he just came out of the screan! But this thing?! Received it monday...opened it and already 3 pieces, yes 3 pieces were broken - detached from the figure! Super flimsy, the legs don't peg in, the chest either, just doesn't hold in no way without not even touching him! Contacted xtb and tf express, sending him back for a full refund...what a disaster, so dissapointed!

I got this figure the other day and it won't even tab together in the mode it comes shipped in. His head is on an angle, the lower legs are gappy and frustrating, the backpack flops about and the waist / abdomen is loose in every part. I've sent mine back for a refund

Noticed you edited the part where you have to push the head inside the cavity which has very very poor clearancw as ive seem most of the videos rather removed the head out of frustration. And also you changed back the top of the helmet to the flat one it came out with instead of the rounder toon accurate top.

Also this is the second review I've seen today of Locke and have been looking for comparison reviews after that of Vector Sigma's which totally put me off and I like MP figs that are complex but satisfying to transform but this looks a chore and the fact that X-Transbots suggest broken parts can be glued suggests they don't seem to care too much for good customer service. When I buy a product brand new it should meet british consumer standards and if I find it faulty or breaks after the first time using I won't hesitate to send it back for a replacement.

There is absolutely no reason to make a transformation so difficult. Look how easy Smokey was to transform, and that bot is beautiful. This thing is practically a shell former, so why then was it so difficult for XTransbots to work in an intuitive transformation around it??

Trust X-Transbots to overcomplicate even the simplest design. Even Koot looks simple by comparison. What a mess... The chest isn't long enough and the abs aren't painted either. Glad I ended up passing on Locke. Seems like nobody has quite nailed Kup yet... FYI, the price for both Locke and Koot is $160.

I'm a positive guy when it comes to Transformer figures and I am very forgiving but I hate this figure. Watching your video was the only way I was able to transform it. It is an extremely unpleasant process, everything is a struggle. Mine does not tab in properly, everything is too tight. I managed to avoid it shattering as many people have found but each movement of parts felt like it could cause a breakage at any moment. I am not looking forward to transforming it back to robot mode. That is where it will stay until I can off load it. Avoid.

I've watched ur 📹 about 5x and im starting 2 notice everytime there's a clearance issue or 1 is about to begin u will skip the 📹 not showing the full transformation sequence and then laughing and saying u see it fits but not showing us NOT 1 FLUID MOVEMENT OF GETTING THE HEAD THROUGH THAT IMPOSSIBLE LITTLE HOOD OR ANY OTHER MOVING PANELS. I can’t believe I am going to day this. Fanstoys wins. This Xtransbots is a mess. Gappy altmode and boring looking. Joint issues all over in robot mode. And that floppy mess of a transformation is just poor design. Not to mention all the breakage we have seen in other reviews.

Yeah I’ve seen some breakages , mine is intact and I’m pretty heavy handed , maybe I got lucky ??? Either way I still prefer the bot mode on this and I’ll keep Koot for vehicle

@@Benscollectables Think you landed a good copy! The seams where the arms join on mine are a terrible fit, gappy and uneven moulding. One leg has a honking great tool mark where a pin has been pushed in and the tool has slipped, the corresponding pin on the other leg has been left sticking out. The parts that swings out from under his chest and connects the cab section to the legs broke on one side (I'd barely moved it and it came away in my hand) as well as one part of one of the internal hinges where a screw has come out and won't go back in as it looks like it's stripped the hole. Oh and the left thigh keeps slipping out...😂 Think I must have received an absolute lemon! That being said, my supplier is going to send it back for me to get it fixed so I'm hopeful for that. It is a great figure just a shame about the faults on my copy. It sounds like my supplier/XTB can sort those issues out for me which is all I can ask of them. There is definitely still a Locke shaped hole in my collection. Also, I found it easier when swapping the domed head to take the screw out of the back of his head and go from there.

Fanstoys ALWAYS WINS BROTHER 👍 yes im not gonna lie locke looks way way better than koot but u can't even manipulate the figure 4 fear of something just falling off🤣🤣. U tell me 1 x-transbots figure better than Fanstoys, and ill tell u 2. Yes Fanstoys r not perfect @all but they r 10x better than x-transbots. Bro they told customers that if a piece falls off 2 glue it back on.🤣🤣🤣 R u KIDDING ME. WORST P.R. EVER. BUT 2 EACH THERE OWN 👍. I was gonna buy him thats how screen accurate he is but im not in the business of just throwing my $$ away.
