Resistance Technical Manual 19.33 clearly states that air foils are to be locked in the closed position when the ship is landed. You now have to complete a Form 244, get it signed by the Squadron Maintenance Officer and deadline the ship until the Flight Control Systems Technician can perform a -20 level check of the entire actuator assembly. Am I the only one who reads the damn manuals?

I was there in 99. I was totally exited to go then it got turned up to 11 when I found out it was being held at WOTR vs a convention center! If I got bored looking at Star Wars stuff I just went and checked out the planes. Before going I read that a full size X-Wing was going to be there. I was really let down when I saw this as I was expecting the full size set piece. The pod racer kinda made up for it though. Despite the cold and the rain I had a great time there and met some really fun people. It was more fun than the next one in Indianapolis which even though I didn't get cold and wet paled in fun level over Denver.

In the films, X-Wings had a tinted canopy. You should darken the canopy glass until it's barely opaque and dark and set up a PS BR playing Star Wars battlefront X-Wing mission or some similar "3-D" experiences. No monitor would be required since the goggles are the monitor. You can charge people to "ride it" and all proceeds go towards restoring your old planes.

It's a non-operational Starfighter for display purposes only. The wings are displayed in the attack formation for visitors who never seen it that way because they may be used to seeing them folded while parked at a real star base. In any event, as long as the hydraulic actuators were properly drained of fluids and the mechanical crank was used, there won't be any damage to the systems, refer to Rebel manual 34.65.

I always hear "wings over the rockies" as "Wings over Iraqies" for some reason.. But i just love how Mathew just isnt afraid to show his humor and enthousiasm, most curators are too serious. Its not a shame to show your enthousiasm, and have fun in the things you do! You can actually tell he enjoys what he does and he is not afraid to show so. He even dares to act like a kid sometimes, and he should never change that. I would go to all of matthews exhibitions just for that reason, And because i LOVE planes to bits too! Strange....to have a curator who is chill enough to not be afraid to display a novelty piece next to real airplanes that’s worth millions more. I’m sure other museum curators are just as chill; but, they are “academic chill”, with their mask of seriousness...they be boring, their public image be boring. The only curator I can think of that is chill....Neil deGrasse Tyson. I like to see this museum and compare it to Wright Patt and Smithsonian
@AvengerII5 жыл бұрын
Well, the Smithsonian screwed up the restoration of the 11-foot Starship Enterprise shooting miniature TWICE because they couldn't be bothered to research it well and didn't consider it "culture-worthy" to do that job right! They finally got it right on the third restoration and ARE displaying it next to the real spaceships in the main NASM complex. I still get the impression that some curators there are snobby and frankly embarrassed by the model but at least they don't display those feelings publicly and ARE aware that it draws visitors to that museum like so many of the other artifacts on display. In fact, the largest crowds NASM has EVER seen have been when they had expos with props and models from science fiction series those series being -- you guess it! -- Star Trek and Star Wars!

I'm curious: Is it a full R2 that fits into place, or just the exposed parts that you can see? Also, a couple corrections: The arcade game was just named "Star Wars" although many people often refer to it as "Star Wars: The Arcade Game". Also, "Star Wars: Episode I - Racer" was developed and published by Lucasarts, although it did come out on the Nintendo 64, as well as Windows, Mac and Dreamcast.

Could you actually make a flying replica of an x wing, it does look like it could generate enough lift from the fused wings at least. With four turbine engines it surely can create enough power to get of the ground if it has a light frame. Forgetting about cost for a moment and just looking at the technical aspect of it, could it be possible?

First off, "X-Wing" atmospheric/space fughter is a "reel" craft, WHICH CAN'T FLY in this or any other "universe." The same goes for the "weapons" used by The Rebel Allliance against The Empire. As in the 1973 TV movie, "Birds of Prey,": "It's just an oil painting." (But the P-40 painted in Flying Tiger colors was a real World War II warbird.;)
