The T-85 is what the T-70 should've been and makes more sense than just trying to look cool. Also, a X-wing's wings don't do much if anything for lift or maneuverability anyway, though the spacing of the thrusters might help some. Z-95 to the T-65 were good, classic is iconic for good reason, and the other 2 designs have some serious design and aesthetic problems. 70's S foil design foregoes the clean x shape of the original, having the hinges right there on the outside rather than running through the center, while the 85 keeps the faults of the 70 and looks like a knockoff X wing made to be legally distinct so as not to get copyrighted. I get its meant to be a ship from the height of the new republics power when they have actual proper production lines and facilities, but they took it too far from the classic drag car frame look. Z-95 and the ARC-170 I have less issue with, created with the idea of them being previous iterative designs that at first underengineered and undergunned the craft, then overengineered the ship, to say noting of having 3 clones in a single vessel and that it takes 10 years to grow each one, and combined the two into just the right mix of speed, manueverability, and firepower to make it a general purpose craft.

Aerodynamics are useless in space, no air. Star Wars ship designs and strategies are for aerial dynamics but in space aerodynamics don't apply. Larger ships are designed like battleships and fight like they're on water rather than in space. I think they drew too much from WW2 dogfights and naval battles. Star Trek does space battles realistically staying more within the laws of physics. Have you ever thought about doing the Normandy and Normandy SV-2 and SV-2 upgrade in Mass Effect? In Star Trek they use warp technology to essentially pull the ship like it's on a rope that can bend and twist in 4 dimensions rather than any kind of thrust. 5:22 G is not a speed. G has to do with forces on the pilot. You can go lots of speeds and change the g from angling and other factors. It is not a reference to speed at all. Why are the values randomly using different measurements. Hypersonic is a speed above approximately mach 5. Though it can vary in how it's referenced. None of these speed values make any sense or have any baring in reality. It's like measuring distance and using liters. It makes even less sense because hypersonic is only in atmosphere. It's compared to the speed of sound which is related specifically to the atmosphere you are in and how it effects the speed of sound per atmosphere and location. Speed of sound changes in real life in earths atmosphere. This means hypersonic of 3700g is nonsense or a mismatched reference to maximum g forces. And I think 3700 g force is enough to destroy a small planet. Fairly sure normal training and operational g forces are at worst 15g. Most pilots I think do training to 9 g in testing. I think with the more extreme artificial testing up to 15g.
@chrissonofpear13842 жыл бұрын
It means straight line acceleration, @Random User . Hypersonic refers to atmospheric speed, which was in 5 digits for the ARC-170. 3700 G would equal almost 36.3 km a second, if using a standard Earth G. I assume that's maximum acceleration, but the Cross Section books are not too detailed on that regard. Or hypersonic was just a misquote for 'atmospheric' by Halfscreen, I suppose. And 'megalights' comes from an old in movie concept art speed chart, before migrating into the video games as a speed marker.

Id argue the falcon is a heavily modified yt1300 and per unit cost you can probably afford 2 maybe 3 x wings over one falcon type 1300 with the list of upgrades it has. X wings are also smaller and less susceptible getting hit with larger weapons

@@clpfox470 Rebel Alliance could have invested the money to build large fighters equivalent to millenium falcon armor but having firepower of B-Wing. @@jawarakf as a single seat long range multirole fighter, the xwing was good enough and good enough is perfect in engineering. Sure they could of and they would eventually with the kwing but the alliance couldn't really afford the wonder weapons the empire could till much later. And quality wise the xwing was supior to the mass production tie fighers especially where it counted in endurance, range, and multirole capability

I didn't realize they went so fast. at a 100MLight would be able to travel from end to end of the Milky Way Galaxy within 8~9 hours. I'll just assume their universe is in a galaxy far far BIGGER than ours. But then again we can fly to any part of earth in about 24 hours and there still isn't a single ruler of the earth so perhaps their galaxy only needs to be a little bigger and there are plenty of large galaxies out there...

100 megalights is not a multiple of lightspeed - 'megalights' comes from an old Industrial Light and Magic concept chart for rough ship speeds, and seems to refer to sublight velocity. Hyperdrive speeds are widely variable, @White Bunny , ranging from only a bit over a thousand light years per hour, in some references, to as high as over 12,000 light years per hour - and in recent Disney Films, even faster than that. So I guess the comparison you list does sort of work, now.

Are you sure the X-Wing has 3,700G instead of 3.700G? If an X-Wing can accelerate at 3,700G, how does the pilot not turn into pancake every time the X-Wing makes an evasive maneuver?

why do all these 3D renders look SO wrong? The wings are all cut off to short, and most if not all the dimensions are wrong. Then to have some in there that are very close to correct makes you scratch your head and say why if they have a few models/renders that are very close to being correct that so many are so very wrong?

Sorry but I thought the rebels stole most of the designs from the empire... The millennium falcon was an imperial ship, the Nebulon B frigate, the A wing, etc The rebels upgraded what they had over time but never created any of their vehicles

The first X-Wing ever seen was in the Ralph Mcquarrie Death Star Trench Run painting. it was what you call T-70 with the split engine. What you call the T-65 with the 4 full cylinder engines was the one used in the first movie. Your CGI rendering is not an accurate rendering of it. The rear cylinders are smaller, and significantly offsett from the centerline of the front cylinder. You also don't show the closed front 4 engine full cylinder version seen in another Ralph Mcquarrie original painting. Because of that version I don't refer to either end as "intake or exhaust" respectively. They may be so but I don't assume they are. Neither do I assume their internal workings are turbines. That would be impossible for the split cylinder. Very likely the miniature making engineers recognized this mechanical inconsistency in the Mcquarrie painting, and made the filming models full cylinders. Later CGI split cylinder versions were used on screen because CGI renderers don't have much background in engineering or art. You didn't do your research very well. Just made a lot of stuff up.

Most of the 3D model i used was downloaded on the web to save time since modeling an accurate 3D model is a time-consuming process, and unfortunately, usually not 100% accurate. On KZbin, you literally have at most 5-7 days to produce weekly content, hence why most SW channel only use still image or videos from the previous movie and rarely ever use 3D models let alone an accurate one.

@@Halfscreen I'm not a fanboy but in a few hours even I could find better support, and compose a better fact based history of the X-Wing. Only took 15 minutes to illustrate more flaws in your video than just inaccurate CGI models. If you started with more intelligent information you could have composed a more accurate history faster. Not trying to be mean. Just giving you some benefit of my experience. I have built major tools used to build some of the grandest air, and spacecraft of the passed quarter century.. Also made the heart of the LHC.

Aerodynamic 😅... Ultimately it's a SPACE craft .. What would that matter in the vaccume of space
@VegetaLF72 жыл бұрын
Because they're also designed to operate in atmosphere, a fact exploited heavily in the Legends X-Wing novels. Several kills against TIE Fighters are achieved because of the X-Wing's superior aerodynamics in air combat vs the terrible aerodynamics of the TIE models, namely the frequency of the wind catching the inside of the solar panel wings and causing the TIEs to go into an uncontrollable tumble while attempting to mimic the same maneuvers the X-Wings were capable of. Just because you have a ship that can operate in space doesn't mean it can't be designed with atmosphere in mind too.

Who writes this rubbish? Not the video, that's well put together, I mean what are presumably official stats. Hypersonic is 5x Supersonic, putting it at over 6K Kph. 1K Kph isn't even Supersonic, it's Transonic. Star Wars writers need to learn how to use Wikipedia.
