Alternate opinion: the N1 is suuuuuper low on this list. It is one of the best Republic options: its survivability, attack, and standardized abilities make it a force to be reckoned with. Bare-bones, it is superior to every other small ship the Republic have! It can also serve as a solid torpedo platform and it comes with a 5-skill pilot. My advice? Buy even just one of these before any interceptor (unless you REALLY want to fly Jedi alot). Note: Crabbok is right - 1 will make you want 2 more. Thanks for the list, Crabbok!

Thus far, my luck with the Republic, and also with the Separatists, in flying lists from those factions has been abysmal...I'm not a fantastic X-Wing player in general, and I only play for fun, but the last two times I played, I did those factions, and lost horribly with them, for different reasons. But, it's still fun, so I enjoy seeing how you've ranked the ships! I will take your rankings into consideration when next I attempt to fly the Republic!

I really, really love the ARC 170 but in X Wing I've seen it get dogged by T-65s. I agree, when I play Empire I usually do a lot better than when I play Republic with a lot less effort. The only successful list I've had for Republic is Sinker swarm

erm, only one correction. on average the n1 starfighter pilots are more expensive than the ywings. the ywings do tend to take more upgrades, which lead them to cost round about the same. i also cant think of a single list that requires 3 n1s. important to note about this one is its the only acey ship the republic has access to that can take torpedoes. that being said i do agree that its not the most necessary ship to buy straight away.

Does anyone know if this still holds up? I’m in the process of converting to 2.0 but some of the Republic ships are cool, so I’m thinking about making a small squadron with some ARCs and a gunships or y-wing. Especially since I’d be able to use the ARCs with Rebels too.

I have the first edition starter set from 2012.. I was at the hobby store yesterday the guy at the store told me the figures for second edition can also play for first edition. In the movies I love the clone wars in the prequel, EU, the cartoon, the CGI cartoon till the mouse got its grubby little white gloves and destroyed Star Wars. So can these box sets still play first edition like the guy at the store told me?
