I had a Black 1977 one and then a brand new Dark Brown 1979 one with 3 piece Compomotive rims and Pirelli P6 tires. I loved that car. Handling was so precise and predictable. What they say about the car being crash worthy is true. I was going about 50mph and a guy ran a red light and I T boned him. The front of the X1/9 crumpled and folded up but other than two black eyes I survived. So did the other guy but if I had hit his door he wouldn't have. Sadly the X1/9 was totaled but I did take the rims and put them on my 131 Brava. The only thing was a lack of power on the X1/9 but I have a million smiles for miles memories

Oh, ein tolles Auto! 1988 war ich ganz verrückt danach, solch einen als Gebrauchtwagen (von 1982) zu kaufen. Aber bei der Probefahrt machte mich das ungewöhnliche und instabile Fahrverhalten nervous (leicht auf der Vorderachse), und vermittelte mir kein sicheres Fahrgefühl. Auch gab es Schwierigkeiten bei den Preisverhandlungen. Und so verabschiedete ich mich von meinem Traum, und kaufte mir einen gewöhnlichen Golf GTI 16V. Und ich muss sagen, dass dein Motor erheblich williger agiert, als der den ich fuhr!

Hmm...leichte VA kenne ich bei X1/9 nicht,nur bei älteren 11ern (bis 997)

I miss my 1980 X. Bought in 2004 on ebay for $800 and drive home from WPB to Lake Wales. After that not much driving thanks to the hurricane season. Hopefully can find another soon.

High revvs. -I love it. In a way I miss that character after swapping the 1500 to an Uno Turbo. I assume you had to change from gear linkage to cables for the Tipo setup? Was it complex to do?

Only the engine is basically Tipo. Gearbox is still X1/9

Thanks for reply. I've seen this mod before. My C510 box is slightly different and will require even more modification. For next season I will still use the X1/9 gearbox but with a taller final drive from a Ritmo. If disaster strikes I must find a solution similar to this. I assume 205whp/267wNm is too much for the stock X1/9 gearbox to handle, but strangely it survived last summer.

1.3l Mk1 UT engine with stock internals. -All new sensors/triggers and MaxxECU Race. -440cc injectors. -X1/9 Sport Cam with 10mm lift. -Volvo TD04HL-14T Turbo. -High Flow 3" exhaust/muffler, no CAT. -Charge cooler. Revvs too much on road; 7k rpm@205km/h, but good on track. It was most likely a cheaper build than yours (Simeon?) 1.9l. But I lack and miss the sound of a high revving engine. Basis ist der 1600 vom Tipo. KW,pleuel,kolben,kopp,wapu,kuppl geändert

1900cc, bigger ported head,4-2-1 header,44 twin carbs,etc. Running since late 2017 but still not finished 🤔

@@andymccue2721 it's basically a 1,6 Fiat Tipo case with 88mm bore and a crankshaft from a 1,6 16v Fiat engine which has more stroke -> 1907cc

Is this the new engine and what is she running on here? Last clip I saw was 1500 twin carbs, with a big bore cylinder head...

It is a new built indeed. 1900cc,even bigger ported head,4-2-1 header,44 twin carbs,etc. Running since late 2017 but still not finished 🤔
