When are you guys going to get rid of the 219H chain and utilize belt-drive for the primary?

But is it quiet yet? Does it keep from overheating and self-destructing now?
@cycmotor11 ай бұрын
The noise level remains relatively the same as the most of the noise comes from the 219H chain. The thermal performance and efficiency is now much better with the X12 & Gen 4 motor combo meaning that the system is less strained under heavy load. With the reviewed manufacturing processes, the rotor issues has also been resolved.

I have the gen4 never had or seen or used the other gen’s but its not loud when just peddling.. its loud when u use only the throttle.. but its sounds kinda like and rc car not that bad

Had an early gen 1 unit, great motor, high maintenance. Main point of concern was the sprag clutch, has it changed since the initial upgrade on gen1?
@cycmotor11 ай бұрын
Yes, we have since changed to a better manufacturer for the sprag clutches meaning that they are of much higher quality although it's still the same design.

I'm not a fan of spring chain tensioners. They have constant friction with the chain. Why can't you make a bolt chain tensioner similar to that on the rear wheel where you simply tension by moving one of the chainrings away from the other?
@Zestybwoi11 ай бұрын
The motor would have to move relative to the mounting bracket... More weight + complexity
@ehudkirsh76611 ай бұрын
@@ZestybwoiWhy more weight? And no more complexity either, it's at least as simple as a spring tensioner. If spring tensioners are so much simpler and lighter, why aren't they used on the rear wheel for any serious racing motorcycles?
@Zestybwoi11 ай бұрын
@@ehudkirsh766 Imo the weight of an advancing screw + fixing hardware would likely exceed the weight of a spring loaded tensioner. But that is up to debate. More complexity arises from the customer needing to set chain tension and maintaining chain tension as the chain stretches and sprockets wear out during use. Marginal weight gains are less appealing in the motorbike industry than in cycling. BHP is vastly different between ebikes and motorbikes. The requirement for mechanism robustness is very different between ~8 bhp and 100+ bhp. Optimal ebike design ≠ optimal motorbike design.
@ehudkirsh76611 ай бұрын
@@Zestybwoi I disagree with you completely AND you haven't addressed my arguments! Clearly a spring tensioner has more constant friction, that's why a bolt tensioner is used in BOTH motorcycles and bicycles as a tensioner more often. What's complicated to you about tightening a nut with a wrench? I remember weighing both to be less than 100g and I'm pretty sure the bolt was the lighter. Clearly a bolt is superior. At the very least, it should be given as an option.
@Zestybwoi11 ай бұрын
@@ehudkirsh766 No one said spring loaded tensioners have less friction. Nothing is complicated about tightening a bolt every now and then, but omitting an extra servicing step is good thing. Stating specific weight values for a hypothetical product is a bit deranged, really both would need to be made to know for sure. My hunch is the tensioner would come out on top. What do you mean most bikes use this system? There's about a handful mid drive kits and none of them are made that way. Imo the constrained form factor of the motor + sprung chain tensioner makes them the winner, especially when you have an ESC and batteries etc crammed onto your bike frame. It would be a pain if while tensioning the chain after some wear you advanced the motor into your battery or whatever... I think the way they are makes them a tad more diy friendly.

This is big news, I've seen people have big ass controllers mounted outside of motor in CYC X1. I was wondering is it really possible to achieve light ebike with 8kW. Now I know it's possible to hit 10kW. Other matter is battery...
