That RTA view of this EQ is excellent for taking the harmonic ring out of a room or removing feedback from a fixed mic. When leveling a fixed position mic I like to push the fader/FOH until I begin to detect emerging feedback. The RTA view of the EX shows a sharp blue signal slowly growing on the display. Its as simple as your search and destroy to to put one of the eq selections on that frequency and attenuate that feedback frequency. WOrks great.

Thanks brother. You're a powerful ministry! I've learned many things from your videos. Thanks and be blessed. I even built more than a few Aurycle Mic kits😂😂👍👍👍 the 87 model isn't half bad. I love the tube Mic also
@DrewBrashler4 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that so much! Thank you for this comment. How do you like the 87 model? I have pondered making one.
@massfusionstudio4 жыл бұрын
@Drew Brashler The 87 is clean and pretty nice. The build is not too bad at all. Just have to plan your soldering carefully because it has 2 boards. They get connected by a few wires. I haven't modded anything yet. Just stock build for now. The sensitivity isn't bad at all. Low noise and definitely not so brittle a sound as those Bm800 cheap mics. The tube Mic single capsule definitely has more sensitivity than the Fet 87. I built 5 of each Mic. I use cardoid for Mic up and they sound great. Not bad capsules at all. I built the stock versions. I'll probably get to tweaking them with tubes and better transformers. TMI makes the replacement transformers for the Neumann U47 and the U87. The stock tube isn't bad for generic use. But the transformer could be swapped out. The turn ratio isn't bad. Sorry to ramble on lol. I want to use Mallory parts next build. I might build the dual diaphragm tube kit. Or i might just change the capsule and go with the CK style capsule. The Aurycle circuit board is already setup for the two extra cap and resistor i believe. I'll go with an aftermarket power supply for it. They're all pretty much neutral and can maybe grab a warm audio tube Mic supply unit. Just that mod alone would be awesome. Take care and I'll do some studio samples with the mics and give you a link.
@massfusionstudio4 жыл бұрын
Those circuit boards are not bad at all. They do the trick lol from point a to point b then out to point c lol. I've even done miracles with a bag of tricks with tracks recorded with those cheap China mics lol. Aurycle is beyond a cheap Chinese Mic. Real solid brass and not cheap aluminum casings. They definitely can be built into a $3k microphone.

Drew Thanks for this video! Do have any videos or plans to do a video on 'Why' one would use a gate or a compressor or time the reverb manually etc. The reason I ask is, I see these functions but I don't know why I would use them or what sound I am looking for or what situation they are ideal for and also what was the thinking behind creating these functions in the first place. If this is sophomoric and basic information I apologize but I ask all the same due to the fact I have no formal classroom music theory just have an ear for sound. I have been using the board to 7 years and would like deeper understanding so I can choose when to use these features. Thanks!!!

Hey Drew great post as usual.. Very informative. I have the X32 and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! But sometimes I use it to track my stuff inside of Studio One software. I love the sound of the reverb and delays of the console but when I track to software I lose the effects and just have the bare audio. Do you know if there's anyway to track it inside of my DAW with the effects still on them? Thanks again, Mike
@DrewBrashler4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question, Mike! I also love the sound of the effects. I have a blog post about recording with effects, you can read about it here: dbbaudio.com/2016/behringer-x32-recording-with-effects/. Hopefully this helps you out with your setup!
@UltraSamurai4 жыл бұрын
Also. Since you are diving into the user patch. I have a scenario for you if you want to use this as a demonstration. X32 is plugged into computer via the usb card. Card inputs 1 and 2 are the stereo output from the computer going to faders 31 and 32, so you can play music and media and have its audio transfer digitally rather than through the pc's headphone port. The tricky one for me that I eventually got working was getting reapers main output (after all its effects processing for broadcast) going into card input 3 and 4 to then come out of aux 5 and 6. The idea behind this is if you are using an external streaming device like the ATEM mini pro as it has a 1/8 jack for audio.
@DrewBrashler4 жыл бұрын
I will make sure to cover something like this! I can see churches using the X-USB card for getting backing tracks & click from a DAW for playing along to live. This would be a similar routing to what you are looking to do. But it sounds like you nailed the routing on this one! Great job!

@DrewBrashler4 жыл бұрын
Yes I will! I love using the Matrix section for routing the LR mix to multiple areas in my church. I end up sending my Main LR PA through matrix 1&2, then a subwoofer send through Matrix 3, typically a cry room/mothers lounge/lobby through matrix 4. It basically is a way to have a separate volume control, EQ, and dynamics for sending your mix through to various destinations. Thanks for watching!

Hi Drew, Thank you so very much as always for these tutorials. They are very helpful to many. May God continue to bless you, brother. Some of us are still using the good old snake connected to the local inputs. In your future videos, please do not forget to cover that in you routing lesson. The routing section of the X32 board is still a mystery to me. How can I route bus11 and 12 to the USB card for live streaming. Also I route my X-USB card to Garageband for multi-channel recording but not getting any sound into Garageband. My Mac/Garageband recognizes the usb card inputs from the X32. Could you this be a set up issue on the X32 board? Thank you and God bless

Hey Drew, haven't upgraded our X32 to v4 yet .... couple of questions 1) our environment doesn't change very often, are there features in v4 that makes it worth upgrading? 2) will the upgrade maintain all my settings or does it reset the board to zero? Thanks much - greatly appreciate your videos!
@DrewBrashler4 жыл бұрын
Great question, Darren! With every firmware release, Music improves various bugs and releases new features. You can always look in the firmware release text note which details all of the new features of each firmware. As for updating your console, you would always want to back up your console to a USB drive before making any firmware update. I make it a regular task for me to make sure I have backups of every piece of gear I own. When I moved from version 3 to version 4, it did not reset everything to zero. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have more questions in the future!

You could do 1for1 patching in older firmware, each channel had a selectible source. Used to do that all the time from edit on the computer, it was just no as easy as it is now.

Yeah before the 4.0 update I would do the same thing. Could never understand why more people didn't realize this.
@number1rugby4 жыл бұрын
You could pick what input each channel used but you could only select where the inputs came from in groups of 8. Example if you had a S32 on stage but you needed 4 inputs at the board for wireless you would have to select 8 inputs at the board leaving you with only 24 on stage. Now you can just use the 4 at the board giving you 28 on stage.

@colinhough56644 жыл бұрын
The only difference between the compact and producer is the faders. As he mentions, the left side of the board has 16 faders, while the right has 8. On the compact and producer, they have 8 on the left and right. You may need to get another piece of hardware to use all of the channels on the producer and compact.

Video request: Taps and Inserts. Everything I've seen states what these do but they have really gotten me in trouble. I think my failure to grasp the concepts is that some Insert a signal and some tap a signal to route elsewhere (I think. As I said I'm not grasping the concept). I proved it by changing the pre/post faders , mutes, etc on mix bus or channel settings and accidentally create a multiplexer of sorts that keeps sound going to FOH even if i pull the faders to bottom . Also I've changed a pre/post fader and instantly drove feedback to FOH that the Main fader wouldn't stop it. Had to kill the power amp to stop it. Since this was DURING A WORSHIP SERVICE i'm a bit skiddish about playing with them but it's only when the house is full that I can really dial in the mix. Any guidance made Barney-simple would be apprecioatred.
@DrewBrashler4 жыл бұрын
Great idea on the video request. I also agree this is one area that is easy to confuse! Take a look at this blog post on the signal taps, it might help clear up some of your confusion! dbbaudio.com/2017/x32-output-tap/

Thanks for the overview. Quick question: Does anybody in x32 world have any idea why I cannot seem to unlink the gains for channel 1 and 2? I adjust channel 1 and it also adjusts chan 2 and visa versa. There are paired somehow with only the gain. These channels are not stereo linked together nor are they configured to each other in any way. I even tried reinstalling the firm ware 4.0. Anyone?
@davidwellington41864 жыл бұрын
HI You may well have already tried some of these solutions but perhaps they will help: (When setting up for a new show I always have X-Edit running on a computer to give a clear overview of the Channel settings, Sends on Faders, and Routing and it is far easier to spot mis-settings than with the mixer screen.) 1/ On the Setup / Config / Link prefs: Does de-selecting ‘Delay+HA link’ solve the issue? If so re-select the ‘Delay+HA link, and go to 2/ & 3/ 2/ Are any other Channels linked intentionally? If so unlink them, does that solve the issue? 3/ Check on the Routing / Input / Block patch. that you don’t have two Input block patches set to the same channels (even if you are not using them). Also check this on the new for Ver 4.0, Routing / Patch / User. page. Something that has caught me out is on the Routing screen: The 6th encoder switches between Record & Play routing configurations, so it is possible to be editing the routing on the wrong table! You could also try: Loading a new un-modified scene on X-edit, then from it’s Setup page synchronize PC to Mixer. Reset the mixer from the Setup / Global screen. Though the software up date resets many things back to ‘factory’, when I updated my X32s both kept the saved Scenes. Let me know how you do Cheers Dave.

Drew! what's the best option in the USB configuration tab to record the audio ?
@unleashedbroadcastchurch4 жыл бұрын
Hi Drew, I have the x32 compact (4.02) and X32 Edit running on windows (4.01) and have always struggled with most of it because I seem to be using it completely differently to how most engineers use it. I want to run it specifically with my computer for both LIVE streaming of my ordained wife with vMix whereby I can EQ audio from online guests on the stream as well as connect to cubase for recording . The reason I bought it was to also wanted to add local studio based guests in my stream via instrument or vocal and run my Native Instruments items (S88 keyboard & Maschine 3) through it. I am not a sound engineer by any means, more video and editing and kinda know enough to get audio through ASIO to board and Cubase but I wonder if there are any others like me out there. I have tried some X32 facebook groups but found them to be less than welcoming. Would you have any video recommendations to look at that kinda lend themselves to this kind of setup. Many Thanks
@dinospd4 жыл бұрын
Wallasey Parishes I'm not entirely sure why you'd need to EQ the sound again to your live mix, I believe you can record on Cubase, apply EQ there and route Cubase's output to vMix. Anyway, I'd recommend starting to EQ your mains to your room using pink noise beforehand, this way you could probably use the channel's EQ in your stream mix without a problem by routing it trough a mix bus.
@DrewBrashler4 жыл бұрын
I think I understand what you are trying to do with it. I don't personally use vMix, but a quick Google shows that the software only supports 6 channels of recording. I don't know if this is accurate for the software and if that translates to not being able to support 32 channels of audio. My recommendation is to separate your video streaming computer from your audio computer. You will most likely need to get another audio interface to bring multiple channels of audio out of the streaming computer, bring it into the X32 and then bring it as a stereo mix back into the streaming computer. I wish there was more I could explain, but without having my head around all of the intricacies of your setup, it would be my best guess. Thanks so much for watching!

I want to send the signals in the input channels to the matrix. For example, connect the first channel input signal to the second matrix channel. sample : The Matrix 1 output is the same as the main, but I want to hear the vocal sound more in matrix 1. because matrix 1 rear speaker
@UltraSamurai4 жыл бұрын
Im thinking for that you would be using a stereo bus that is receiving all channels post fader. So basically set all channels to 0db with vocals boosted to taste. So now when you mix for the main speakers it will reflect on the rear speakers with that boost to vocal channels.
@DrewBrashler4 жыл бұрын
@UltraSamurai hit this one on the nose! The mixbusses are the sends from the channels, and the matrix is a send from the mixbusses. There is no way to directly send a channel to a matrix without going through a mixbus first. Hope this helps!

I wish thy came up with a way to have custom layer on the console like the software,.
@DrewBrashler4 жыл бұрын
I wish this too! That would be a great feature. They did manage to add that to the Behringer Wing, which is a great upgrade if you ever find yourself with a maxed out X32! Videos to come on the Wing!

can someone tell me how to send the EQ and effects of an input to computer? - its for our church livestream
@samuelrazzano46844 жыл бұрын
If i understood correctly your request you want to send the sound of your mic with FX and treatments that you made included in the channel to your computer. To do that you can send a mixbus through thé card. To do that, go to thé routing section, block "card" and choose "Output 1-8", then bé sure that thé Mixbus 1 is sent to your output 1 (by default it is the case normaly in the section routing, patch points, "OUT") and you just have to send your mic in your Mixbus by thé sends on fader, don't forget to raise up thé Mixbus fader because thé sending is postfader. Hope i helped you (and sorry if i did mistakes, i'm french...)

Hi, is this new firmware also good for Midas M32R?
@DrewBrashler4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is! However, you would want to get the Midas version of the firmware for your console. Thanks for watching!

You should change the title of the video. This is a complete run over the console not only the new features. So for me it is not interesting anymore. Sorry.
