🪐 X4: Foundations 6.00 Update
X4: Kingdom End is being released at the same time as the extensive 6.00 update for X4: Foundations. As is our tradition, we will once again be introducing a number of significant improvements to the base game in this major, free update for all X4 owners. We won't be able to show the full changelog until a later date, but X4 players can already look forward to the following upcoming 6.00 improvements:
- Position Defence, a new feature which allows you to have a carrier-led fleet defend a larger area
- A new cinematic camera cutscene mode
- Improvements in, among other things, AI combat and fleet behaviour, trade behaviour, boarding, salvaging, docking experience, flight pathing, low attention combat simulation, and the station editor

Egosoft, after reading about the next update, I hope you re not thinking on replacing the immersive experience of landing the spaceship and then walking out to the spacestation, and change this to be a cutscene of the spaceship landing like games from decades ago used to do and show. that would be a major step back

Been waiting longer for the original ships to get some unique personality, rather than cut and paste mods. The Split ships were awesome, the Terran ships were awesome, and from this trailer, the Boron ships look awesome. So why are the original vanilla X4 ships so shitty? Truth is, I wont be buying this next expansion until I see some love for the Argon, Teladi, Paranid etc ships, that aren't just cheap cut and paste jobs. Everyone has been asking for the ships to have their own unique design, and Egosoft have refused. Time to go on strike I think.

There should be visitor areas like this, yes, but if it's required for the vistors to move further into a Boron ship, it's them who should be required to put on a suit. Simply because it would make Boron ships more unique and moving around them more fun.

Well - The same goes for me when I got a demo of X-Beyond The Frontier on a CD that was on a cover of a game magazine. A few days later I found the box containing the game in my local game store (those days game stores where sprinkled everywhere). That was somewhere around 1999. Since then I played every iteration of the X series. And I love these X4 series that keep expanding...

Well, with that Boso teaser you hit me in the right spot. I remember when in X3:Reunion (damn that was a long time ago) I was just flying around in my basic Buster, not actually knowing what I`m doing. And then I jumped to the Kingdoms End. It was like I jumped strait into some space ocean with huge boron capital ships gently floating around like whales. And that SONG! On a side note, can I say I'm SO happy Egosoft are keeping the space flight game alive? Of all the franchises to still be around, The X Universe is one I'm so happy to see going, and in this year, the 19th anniversary of X2 The Threat, the game that introduced me to this mythology when I was 3/4 years old, I'll happily jump back into this universe sooner or later.

Those stations modules and ships are stunning, the in universe solution for boron wandering around in ship is also good looking and in my limited knowledge make more sense than a ship fully filled with water (inertia would be terrible), great find on your side, would never thought of it without you!

Man, this looks gorgeous, and the music.....oh how long have i been waiting to hear that music again . It was a "bit" long ago in 2004 that i picked up x2 randomly and fell in love with this franchise. I'm 37 now and still play both x3 and x4 regularly and I'm really glad that you guys are givin us Boron back again. I can still remember the first time when Julian had to pick up that Boron (Mi Ton?) and how hilarious and annoying at the same time the dude was. Manipulate the xenon more while having a story to have them walk their own path. They're basically Skynet. Humans try to use them and destroy them. They defend themselves. All organics are a threat in their eyes. There's room for working in some good story there. They've been around all this time and never really been delved into a lot. If that story has a devide of the faction through the middle with some remainign hostiles (because enemies to fight) with anthoer faction converting to the players side... Yea, I can see that working. Provided it's done after the terran missions. This in turn can destable the galaxy (because of course they're going to have concerns). Which can bring in more faction wars. Got to put the big fleets we amass to use somehow.

@@ginjaedgy49 Oh yea, khaak. If anything could do with seeing them more. Flying through certain sectors in X3: Terran Conflict was actually scary with those things coming out of nowhere. X2 introduced them in a big way. Could have the khaak more of a threat. There are a lot of asteroids. In X2 they attacked Argon Prime. Would make sense for the Khaak to attack the nearby sectors there. Not sure how that could be worked in story wise though. Plus we had a big war with them in X2. Maybe if they were hiding out with the boron and we get to see the khaak in "insect" for the first time? Friendly khaak and hostile khaak and both fighting in xenon space. Can see it working with the right plot. We never did get to see what Khaak look like.

Can't wait to see what cool things this brings again to the X Universe. Although I must say I always hope for much more storytelling/adventure contents to be there. more stories, more mysteries to discover and solve. It would be great if some day you could also cooperate with some author to add more od this. For example one of the best additions to Stellaris game (Horizon Signal) was when they cooperated by Fallen London and Sunless Sea writer. Hope to see more of this in X4 too in the future.
