Seems to be a rock solid system ....I don't feel the need to OC....think I read that the 5800X3D should not be OC'd....Games look incredible in 21:9 Ratio! I might even be playing better LOL Anyway thanks for what you are doing.. keep it going!

I have read quite a few failures with motherboards for processors from the 12th to the 13th generation, mainly with the z690 chip set, the memories suddenly stop working, leaving up to 3 dimm slots totally useless. The funny thing is that no review wants to talk about it, leaving in doubt what is causing it, the memory, the motherboard or the processor.

Hey man, I've been a fan of your reviews and videos. I just built my first PC and your vids helped a lot! Question: My x570s Aorus Master board is showing a code I couldn't find a straight answer for. It's showing a 9E code, but everything is running fine. Is it a non issue? And also, I thought it was supposed to show the CPU temp there? Maybe I'm wrong about that. Thanks either way!

thanks so much for you support my friend, it means the world to me and i am so happy you enjoy my videos. Sadly 9E is resolved, you can find it here on the users manual, page 100 in the appendix. I HIGHLY recommend you update to the latest BIOS, load optimized defaults, save and exit and go back in and load your changes to see if the error message is there there. I have not done an integration video for this board yet, but its on my list, if ou could, please let me know the manufacturer and model number of the cpu, memory (and how many sticks) SSD's (M.2 and regular SSDs and how many and any other device you have attached. As for temps, there are 2 temp sensors on the board, found on regulator page 6. You can check your temps though from within the BIOS under the smar fan settings or within maybe CPUZ or HWMonitor. download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_x570s-aorus-master_1001_210618_e.pdf?v=2865b5ced55313b0dd5b544b2e811905 Hopefully I have helped. Thanks for the video! Found it by chance after having built my new build with a X570S Aorus Master over Christmas. Did you mention the thing about not being able to use 4x m.2 drives without losing the bottom PCIe x4 slot? If yes, sorry, if not, it is a thing. However, I'm still surprised about how much I can fit on this thing, have it running with a 980 Pro (A) and P5 Plus (B) in PCIe 4 mode, an MP510 (D) in PCIe 3.0 mode, just had to skip m.2 (C) in order to fit a 10Gbit NIC into that bottom slot. I hope later on my 3080 will run as smoothly as my 2070S does at the moment. Am still waiting for my GPU upgrade. Same for the RAM, have 4x16GB Dominators 3000 running now, am waiting for my Crucial Ballistix BL2K32G36C16U4B kit. Preorders. 🙄 Crucial told me they're coming back though, just couldn't give me a timeframe. The lack of the second NIC was a bit disappointing since I tend to use them for VMs and what not in different physical subnets, but a cheapo USB fixed that. WiFi didn't work out for me in that situation. That AP behind a wall/door was just too slow and unreliable for that situation. That's why I prefer cables. After decades of running Intel systems, an undervolted 6700K was the last one, I'm surprised how toasty a 5950X gets, but apparently that's normal. I keep reading the same things about temps and vCore on Auto and my Noctua NH-U12A does the job properly. I have yet to look into PBO and all those settings, have everything running on Auto bar CPU fan settings, turning on virtualization and XMP. That'll be the next thing once the RAM arrives and the system doesn't have an allergic reaction like it did with my old Kingston 2666 kit when I set it up on the desk to see if it POSTs, install Win10 offline, just to see if anything goes up in magic smoke. Apparently the system is VERY sensitive to RAM, would not recognize both old Kingston modules with BIOS 2, then not even post with BIOS 3C, froze and ultimately BSODed with a single module at 2666, and only worked at 2133. There's been none of that running the Dominators. XMP, POST and go for it. Oh also the onboard RGB is very subtle out of the box and I don't notice it at all. That's a big plus. :D
@ThisBytesForYou
@ThisBytesForYou 3 жыл бұрын
thanks bud, no, but I will soon. This has to do with PCIE lanes. Your processor supports a certain number of PCIE lanes, you may have to up to 32lanes, if you have the 5950x and a X570 chipset. These lanes are taken up by a video card (up to x16) then each M.2 drive takes up x4. If you have other devices on the PCIE slots, those take up x1, x4, x8 or x16 lanes. So, 4 x m.2's, will eat up x16 lanes, which may cause the video card to stop working or bring it down to x8, but you may have to set the pcie link to 8x8 in the BIOS. I hope to test this soon.
@SlurP667
@SlurP667 3 жыл бұрын
@@ThisBytesForYou I know :) PCIe lane math has always been bugging me. It's so stiff and wasteful. I wish there was more openly documented bifcurcation, more flexibility, a more fluent distribution of those very limited lanes. In my old Intel build for example my GPU dropped to x8 because I had to put a x4 NIC into the second PCIe slot. I doubt that would have made a difference to the GPU performance but those 4 lost lanes could have been used running another m.2 drive. :D That's what surprised me so positively with this board. GPU at PCIe 3.0 x16, three m.2 at x4 (2x PCIe 4.0, 1x PCIe 3.0), a NIC at PCIe 3.0 x4, two more SATA SSDs and still a little room for upgrades. There should be two more SATA ports available. If I replaced the 2070S with a 3080 it should run at PCIe 4.0 x16 but sadly I haven't gotten that one yet. If you populate all four m.2 slots with PCIe m.2s it will disable the bottom PCIe slot. The GPU should still be running at x16 since the PCIe lanes coming from the CPU are split between PCIe 1, 2 and m.2A while the chipset covers m.2B, C, D and the bottom x16 slot. There are tables in the manual about what is sharing which resources with what else, but depending on the manuals and product this can get very confusing very quickly.

@@SlurP667 yeah, it can be very confusing, sadly the only way to know for sure is to test, and I want to , but I have so many things on the backburner review wise that I need to get through first, but I hope to soon.

Hey Iggy, Great review (as always!), it's actually what made me get the board when my Crosshair VIII gave up the ghost on me. Loving the board so far but finding an issue with overclocking on it. Will you be doing an Overclocking video on this particular rig?
@ThisBytesForYou
@ThisBytesForYou 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your kind words my friend, it really does mean a ton to me. Overclocking is touchy, it puts me in a predicament. With oveclocking you and I could have the EXACT same components, but for some reason, same settings and all, but for some reason, yours gets hotter, or bluescreens and then... we have a thread that goes on for 500+ comments, a single thread and I am forced to baby site and hand hold, because now you are dependent on me. Maybe one of the settings I gave you information on kills your PC,... then you blame me I have worked overclocking to extremes, sending machines out to reviewers (PCMag, PCGamer, CNET, MaximumPC and tons more) and I have won many awards reaching stupid high oveclocks and then, because even the same parts are different, a customer wants to buy it.... because they saw a review on it, but because parts while identical, are totally different, we are 100% responsible for it, even though conditionals (environmental as well, where you put your PC, your ambient temperature, you like to blow smoke into your PC, clean power, etc) and the customers gets angry because the non cookie cutter pc they bought, doesn't work cookie cutter and then makes other people not want to buy from them and blah blah blah. It's a lot of responsibility, I may do it, but not extreme, I hope you understand oh oh oh and its INCREDIBLY time consuming and I am 1 person running a channel, doing R&D, doing recording, doing photo and video editing, uploading videos, answering all comments (like this one, I get thousands a day) having a day job, and a night job, being a dad, being a husband, being a home owner, being marketing, being everything.... and then what makes it worse.... you get people trying to bash you on here, because they think they know more, because you pronounced something wrong, because you stated something incorrectly, didn't review something fast enough or missed 1 thing, because so many things, time is not on my side. Sorry to bitch, but sometimes it feels good to get things off of your chest, so maybe one day I will do it, but I am not rushing to it. I thank you so much for your support, it really does mean a ton to me, thank you for being one of the few.

@@ThisBytesForYou oh Iggy I get you 100% brother. Your videos are always a great watch and you helped me out a year back with my Crosshair rebuild when I was having issues, and I'll always be thankful for that...sadly that board was faulty and I couldn't get another of the same model but I am trying to make the Gigabyte one work, just got to find a way to get the "on click overclock" for the CPU to actually work, the Gigabyte program isn't as...user friendly as the AISuite was on the Asus. As a side note, vent away man. If you don't vent on a regular basis you'll get an ulcer. No need to keep it all bottled in! Keep up the fantastic work and can't wait for your next build videos!
@ThisBytesForYou
@ThisBytesForYou 3 жыл бұрын
so never count on one click overclocking programs, they are bad BUT, a HUGE BUT is that they allow you to see what they change, what voltages, ratios, clocks, etc and then you can disable the one click overclock and work to understand what those changes provide. The base, the foundation is a rock solid steady build, a rock solid steady BIOS layout, after its 100% stock, then build on that, it takes one lego to start building the deathstar, and you finish at 4016 pieces but you can't get to 4016 until you get that steady and stable 1. That is the key but they instructions show you everything, so you can prepare and understand what it takes to get to 4016. I may do something on it, but I have too much in the backlog to look at that now, but I know which board to start on when I do, thanks again for your support and understanding my friend, its rare and I hold it close.

between Asus B550 XE gaming wifi / Aorus master X570S (for AMD 5900X) which one is the best to u? and why? thanks so much
@ThisBytesForYou
@ThisBytesForYou 3 жыл бұрын
Well, a B550 and X570S are different chipsets, the X570 is the better chipset. X570 Supports Dual PCIe 4.0 M.2 Slots, B550 motherboards can support multiple M.2 SSDs, but only one of those slots will be PCIe 4.0 compatible. You get 4 m.2 slots on the X570S while you only get 2 on the B55. X570 Supports Multiple PCIe 4.0 PCIe Slots: On both X570 and B550, the main PCIe x16 slot (full length slot for graphics cards) does support PCIe 4.0. But with secondary PCIe slots, whether full-length x16 slots (for GPU) or smaller x8/x4/x1 slots (for expansion cards), those will be PCIe 3.0 on B550 boards but may be PCIe 4.0 on X570 (depending on the model). X570 supports More PCIe 4.0 Lanes, of course depending on your CPU as well. it has more PCIe 4.0 lanes (as in, connections) available on the CPU, and also uses PCIe 4.0 lanes to link the CPU and the chipset. The B550 chipset link uses PCIe 3.0 lanes. This means the X570 has a faster and more flexible Input/Output with multiple connected devices. X570 Can Support More SATA and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Ports. Personally, I would go for the 570, but the B550 is nice if you are on a budget, both boards are good though. Software wise, Asus does a better job than Aorus, compatibility wise as well. The Aorus also has SOOOOOOOOO many more USB ports, that is SOOOOOO important to me. Some facts and opinions there, I will leave you with that. I hope this helps.

@ThisBytesForYou
@ThisBytesForYou 2 жыл бұрын
yeah, it does really well, but I don't recommend using all those M.2's, unless you need them of course as you will eat up PCIE lanes. Realize, when you occupy all the M.2's, most notably, the M2C socket, SATA ports 4 and 5 get disabled, which really isn't that bad, you still have 4 more ports. for the M.2's you will be eating up 12 x PCIE lanes, The CPU provides 24, so you would be eating up half of that, and your video card requires at least 8 but you will need to setup the bifurcation in the BIOS to 8 x 4 x 4 x 4. I am embarrassed to say, I didn't not do the basic BIOS guide on this, but I hope to see, I have been out this week due to some medical issues, but I should be back next week and play catch up. Good luck my friend, please do let me know how well it goes, and if you could please do subscribe to stay up to date on all the PC tech videos I release. Thanks bud.

That's awesome man, I'm thinking about getting the same board. I have an Asus Crosshair Hero VIII, AMD Ryzen 9 5950x, 64gb Corsair RGB Vengence @ 3200 and a RTX 3090. The board itself is unstable as heck, keep getting BSoD and having to physically reset the power. Everything is updated, bios, video drivers, sound card drivers.

Had the same decision, and went with Aorus Master. There are far more reviews out there on the Aorus (check out Buildzoid). As far as i could see Ace has few pros: 90A VRMs and 3x 8x PCIe Slots, plugin M2 card. Pros for Aorus are imo cleaner layout, better cooling (VRMs, SSDs), better fan headers and the best RAM topology on any AM4 board (best overclock). Cons are maybe "only" 70A VRMs, but still super overkill until you get into heavy LN2 territory ... Overall they are pretty much equal, after initial quick research seems MSI has some minor early bios bugs (USB/Sleep probs etc). About my usage: im still running an old 3770k, so i plan my workstation for 6+ years. Don´t do alot overclocking, just a heavy user, often 24/7 for graphics, rendering etc. Stability is my #1 with performance #2. Gonna pair the Aorus with a 3900X (the new one next year with extra cache). Until then will grab some cheapo 4c/6c Ryzen. Oh and for "pure" gaming i would also go with the 12c, easier to cool/oc and better single core perf.

you want at least 3200Mhz, maybe 3600, maybe this off of my Amazon affiliate link: geni.us/7WuB, latency is important, and while it isn't the lowest its been great for me. In this particular system I am using a 5900 but I am using a 3090, you can find it here also on my Amazon affiliate: geni.us/dOiQ4 but I am using this card in other systems, and it is amazing, Amazon affiliate geni.us/rtWrEt. But without buying additional;, I think your system is great as it is, but with games coming out now, 32gigs or more, 16gig isn't that great anymore.

How good or bad is gigabytes RGB control program?
@ThisBytesForYou

Out of all the ones I have tried, Aura Sync, EVGA's ELEET X1, MSI Mystic Lighting and Gigabytes own RGB fusion, sadly I would have to say RGB Fusion. It's very finicky and I know it causes issues with Sapphire TRIXX, so it must with others. Gigabyte makes some great stuff, so I wonder if its contracted out to another company.

First, flash your BIOS: www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570S-AORUS-MASTER-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios After you flash the BIOS, go back into the BIOS, the go to the Save and Exit screen, the click "Load Optimized Defaults", save an exit and then go back into the BIOS. When you go back into the BIOS, go to the Tweaker Menu, Disable "Spread Spectrum Control" then go under "Advanced CPU Settings". There enable "SMT Mode". If you are overclocking (which I don't recommend) disable AMD Cool & Quiet, if you are not, leave it enabled AMD Cool & Quiet. Enable XMP and chose your profile. You didn't provide the speed, so I can't help you with what your FCLK Frequency should be, or if you can really enable XMP, so please provide the speed of your memory before you enable XMP. Under Settings and Platform Power, important to set "AC Back" to Always off, leave Power Loading set to Enabled. Set under IOPOrts, Integrated Graphics to Disabled, PCIE Bifurcation Default Auto, Resizable Bar Enabled, coming out of there then in the Miscellaneous section, Set PICEX16 /Slot confirmation to PCIE Gen4, PCIe Slot configuration Gen4, Enable AMD CPU fTPM (if you are using Windows 11), Trusted Computing, Enabled if you are using Windows 11. In Boot, you need to set Boot Option #1 to "UEFI" with maybe the name of your drive, partition 1. Boot Option Priorities, Disable Fast Boot, Enable CSM Support. LAN PXE, Disable, Storage Boot and Other PCIE Device set to enabled. Bootup NumLock State On. VGA State, EFI Driver, USB Support, Full Initial, then go to Save and Exit, save this setting as a profile, then save and Exit. I think that what happened to you was a small issue, it happens, but updating your BIOS fixes a lot of things, maybe also updating your chipset driver but your CMOS battery dying means you would have lost all of your BIOS settings, and you didn't, so its not that. Provide your memory speeds so I can help, if you needed the help, not sure.

ehh i have all those features on the b550 and my bios wont make me crash from whea errors for running 4400mhz with the 5800x at 1:1:1. however apparently on all aorus master boards you need to (just my advice) put some non conductive tape i used plastidip with a qtip. around the 8+8 cpu , in my case the 8+4 because if you do not have both hooked up one is going to ground to your chassis. just warning you so you dont shock yourself and end up smacking the fans on your loop lol. ek vadar fan literally ripped my pinky nail off. has some bad grounds and a few of the vrms can get loose. and if your on win 11 you will forever have the 9E led code regardless.

Sounds like a downgrade from x570 Aorus Master. Thanks for breaking down the differences regarding to x570 and this board, well done.
@ThisBytesForYou
@ThisBytesForYou 2 жыл бұрын
not really a downgrade in my opinion, more I would say give and take, actually I prefer to X570S. The X570S has only 1 ethernet port, that is a downfall, but I have never really used the 2nd on any board, only for playing around, nothing series. The X570S has more USB ports, I LOVE USB Ports and use them up QUICK, they are all used up right now. Since the S doesn't have a fan it is silent, though has a potential over getting hotter with extreme over clocks, but with the larger heatsink and good front cooling, maybe bottom cooling as well, it also does not have a dual BIOS. Multi GPU support, is kind of dead and worthless, especially since NVIDIA charges for it and on both NVIDIA and AMD, it really only gave you a 15% uplift, if the game supported it, most games don't anymore. Fast USB charge, to me at least is a gimmic. Mind you its cool, but to me, it won't affect my decision to buy or not buy a board. My 2 cents on it, are you or were you considering the board? I think its a nice board personally. Thanks so much for your kind words my friend, so very happy you enjoyed it.
