You mentioned comparing Cinebench and Frybench scores. My rig is an AMD FX-8350 running at 4.0Ghz (stock clocks). 1600Mhz DDR2. Cinebench - 604 Frybench - 5:43 That makes it slightly slower than the i7-3820 at stock. And I appreciate the content creation benches. Most of the reviews I've seen have been gaming-centric - clearly not the target audience for these CPUs.

I literally just bought a 4790K like 10 days ago.. I have been beating my self over the head debating if I should have waited fot x99 or not.. It comes down to my budget though.. I only had $700 to spend and needed to get Mobo, cpu, ram and cooler.. I think going with the 4790k was the only way I was going to meet that budget. I upgraded from a i7 950 bloomfield which in synthetic benches shows the 4790k twice as fast in encoding. I mainly game on my rig but I also create youtube videos and the 950 was just taking to long to encode which actually made me stop uploading videos. I'm hoping now with faster encodes to start creating gaming videos again. I use this computer for eveything so I needed a well rounded processor. I think I made the right decision with the 4790k. Very nice video this is actually the first video of hers I've seen I will def subscribe to her channel as I like her attitude and she seems down to earth and not "stuck up" like some of the reviewers get

Nice work on the comparisons, keep it up! =) I get 4.3GHz overclock with my 5960X using Corsair 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 2400MHz CL14 Dominator Platinum memory. All I can say is that it's awesome for the work I do such as rendering 3D and video as well as gaming where I have 3 Asus GeForce GTX Titan X in a 3-way SLI configuration. My mobo is the Asus X99-Deluxe or course...

I don't do as much test benching as I probably should, but may I suggest posting links to the Bench Programs you use in the future. It would save us a bit of time and make getting responses back to you much quicker. I had a difficult time finding Frybench as the first few links were either broken or invested so it took me almost an hour to find it, hence the reason I stopped it after 5ish min or so...

TastyPCTV I believe i made a comment on this before lol. And yes you are getting much more confident. It definitely shows. Awesome progress. I have been looking into making my own videos, and am beginning to understand what a massive undertaking it can be. Kudos to you for sticking with it. I don't know if you do this or not, but you may want to right down your narratives. You get so excited (justifiably so. I am definitely no different) that you seem to speed up your speech and start rambling ( i use this word constructively). I often have to rematch parts of your videos to catch what your saying sometimes. Or maybe i'm just dumb and slow lol By the way on the actual topic of the video.. Thanks for the info. You confirmed my suspicions, and i'm picking up a 5820k for my current build. Cant freaking wait!

couldnt agree more about what you said about sticking to the z97 for gaming and only upgrading to the x99 if needed really, its still such new tech that it hasnt been fully broken yet and will take maybe 6 months or so before you truly start to see their potential especially with the release of the new broadwell cpu is it? which i really look forward to you doing a video on

I would have liked to see how the 5820k compared to older 6 core cpus and not just the 4820k quad core, but thanks for uploading. There aren't really enough benchmarks out there yet. (Oh and the 4.4 Ghz overclock is pretty typical, I wouldn't call that bad at all, according to what ASUS JJ has been saying.)
@FusionBlitz
@FusionBlitz 10 жыл бұрын
From the looks of thing from many reviewers, the 5820k and 5930k are on par with a 4930k when overclocked as Ivy Bridge-E clock higher than Haswell-E. So the only benefit really is the X99 platform with all of it's new features like ddr4 and sata express etc. Not time to upgrade from my 4930K gonna wait for Skylake-E :)

Good Video Laura.. Your Very lucky to have companies send you those chips for testing :). I think it would have been a better comparison video if you would have used i7-3930k & i7-4930k when doing the comparison between X79 & X99... Can't properly test the difference between Haswell-E 6 Core , DDR4 v.s Ivy Bridge-E , DDR3 when running Quad Cores... You should have done i7-4930k v.s i7-5820k or i7-5930k. Then if you want for the Z97.. Match up the i7-4790k , i7-4770k v.s i7-4820k,i7-3820 , i7-3770k,etc.. oh.... I did some quick benchmark runs on my older Gaming system i7-3770k @ 4.7Ghz = FryBench Time 3 Min 58 Sec i7-3770k @ 4.7Ghz = Cinebench 11.5 = 9.55 ( 2133Mhz Ram ) , When using 2400Mhz , got 9.65 i7-3770k @ 4.7Ghz = Cinebench R15 = 861 Points i7-3770k @ 4.7Ghz = 3DMark FireStrike Extreme Physics Score = 12,749 ( Run 11/9/2013 )... May have better optimizations since that run.. it's old. Look Forward to running my i7-5930K Benchmarks once the parts arrive, and i get her built :) Cheers

Yeah for CPU/multithreaded intensive tasks the 5820K is a steal. For gaming though it's really about the same as a 4790K, and while the CPU itself isn't much more expensive the boards and RAM are. Personally I'm still running a 2500K and I think I'm going to wait for Broadwell.

DrathVader96 I know. That's true. It's rather that I want something new now! This CPU is what, 6 years old! A CPU should not feel up to date this long... When this architecture, Bloomfield, was release I felt it was a huge jump from the previous CPUs. When will the next big jump on the desktop side be? All the focus and development are on the "mobile" side now.

Having said that, once again this video gave me an impression like you were hurrying up to finish it as soon as you can! Also, please speak in a flow and with accent (US or UK I don't really bother). Point is, members should be happy to watch your videos minus 'girl' factor. I've a few Qs: 1) why i7-4970K's RAM at 1866 MHz. Why not with 2400 sticks? 2) Not sure about 210W power for i7-4970K (not full PC load). What GPU did you use? Power consumption definitely matters when one uses machines at work places. So 100W+ difference is a considerable factor because try some math working out on Energy bills for each year per machine. I'll get back to you once I do more tests on this front once my hardware arrives in the next week.

With all this fancy new hardware coming up all the time, I'm so bummed that I'm actually considering buying the Lenovo Y50 4k laptop :( I'm mostly disappointed in myself that I'd abandon my HW roots :D

@Kael Rampage V. Check out the OC3D review of it. Like with x79, the new Rampage is a league of its own.

it would be great if you could do a cpu and 4-way sli cooperation comparison between x99 vs x79 or z97.it doesn't really have to be with 4 titan black's,with any gpu just to see how they perform to this new platform

The benchmark results are pretty crazy. I wonder if its time to upgrade from my trusty 2500K @ 4.4Ghz. As a gamer. Probably NOT! :)
