It really helps me relax and take my mind of what's going around the world right now. Some tips regarding your calzone, pack the dough separately and individually and flour the surface so that it wont stick to whatever it is wrapped on. Another epic adventure! Fatwood is wonderful. I love the smell, the sight of the dark, resinous smoke signaling success. A little tip you may already know: file the spine of your Mora to a sharp 90° angle, then scrape the fatwood sticks with the spine. It creates a sticky “dust” like what you got with the Leatherman (?) that takes a spark more easily than shavings.
@XanderBudnick2 жыл бұрын
Good call
@drockdrockdrock2 жыл бұрын
Filing the spine also allows it to be better used for throwing sparks from a ferro rod. Most knives have a ever so slightly rounded spine which just slips along the ferro rather than scraping it deep enough to throw a shower of sparks.

Ok, first off let me congratulate you for being among the first of the Bushcraft KZbinrs to address having a bowel movement in the woods. This subject never gets any commentary, but the reality is that if you are camping out, more than likely you will need to relieve yourself somewhere during your outdoor adventure. nice demo on how to dispose of your pile of waste. I usually just pile a heaping of snow on my masterpiece and then poke a few sticks in the pile as a reminder of what lies below! I also carry a pack of nonscented baby wipes which I keep in my inside coat pocket to keep them from freezing. Comes in handy sometimes

What you eat is such an amazing and critical component of these videos. I'd encourage you to bring some sweet potato along on your next journey. Throw them right into the coals - bury them in the ash if you can. They'll come out blackened and puffed up on the outside, and they'll have steamed in their own shell. Throw some butter in there, because butter is delicious. No waste to carry out - just huck the shells into the woods for nature to scavenge. Thanks for another inspirational film. I look forward to heading out again soon (when the overnights in Algonquin aren't below -30º).
