@@starhammer5247 depends on the context, the empire can hire any other bounty hunter but bobba has reputation, a descendant of mandalor, a "son" of jango who even obi wan had trouble with, his dislike towards the jedi, his rifle and extreme metods. Vader saw him as a valuable asset, especially against luke. Hardly any other bounty hunter has skills and reputation that high. In Vaders eyes, bobba was irreplaceable (in terms of bounty hunters)

I remember playing The Force Unleashed II and this being referenced in Boba Fett's codex entry. It was written from the perspective of an Imperial officer who was recommending hiring him if they could get him to stop disintegrating targets. The game takes place only a year or so before Empire Strikes Back.

The disintegrator is also one of the most horrific weapons ever developed in Star wars universe. So horrible that even the empire outlawed it more or less. The disintegration process looks instant to us, but the one affected feels every single molecule in their body being disintegrated. It is a painful death.

I think the reasoning for it is that it was outlawed for civilian use because of it's cruelty, but wasn't used by the empire because they're more trouble than they are worth. Too expensive and too specialized plus for a lot of the epires reign it still had to appease the Senate, hence the secrecy of the death star until after the Senate was dissolved so the empire still had to follow it's own laws

Problem with his disintegrator is that it infact doesn't kill as fast as it seems. After you are shot, milleseconds turn into hours of pain and suffering.

disintegration weapons would still be extremely useful for bounty hunters because if the person paying them wants the victim dead, then, the bounty hunter leaves no trace when they kill that person and can’t easily be tracked down. though it doesn’t leave solid proof, the bounty hunter could record the kill on a camera(given that we have seen security cameras meaning that there are probably some sort of hand held video recorders).
