John Sutton had one of the most interesting voices in Hollywood. That and his good looks should have been enough to elevate him into the upper ranks - but it never happened. He stayed busy in minor parts with a few outstanding supporting roles, but this was one of the only starring vehicles I ever saw him in.

It may be a Hollywood thing but the music in the early part of the music is played in a very (over the top) dramatic manner - with what sounds like a full orchestra! The commandos’ uniforms looked like left over WW1 uniforms!

It probably was a full orchestra. Major studios had them. Imagine, at Warner Brothers, the orchestra finishing a score for a big name like Max Steiner or Franz Waxman, then having to play the music for a Bugs Bunny cartoon for composer Carl Stalling. That's how they did it.

I like these old patriotic war movies. According to our family who lived in the occupied lands during the war, the Germans were exactly as vile as depicted in this movie.
