However, Iñaki Peña has failed to play in this role and has constantly made mistakes like not yelling out when he wants to clear the ball, which has led to him clashing together with Araújo and dropping the ball. Iñaki Peña not playing as a sweeper keeper and choosing to hug the post instead, has also resulted in a ton of goals, for instance in the Super Copa final when if he had been playing as a sweeper keeper the first two of Vinícius Júniors goals could have been prevented. Another issue with Iñaki Peña is his indecisiveness which led to two goals yesterday.

Besides of lack in tactics and management from a coach, we have so many mediocre players in the team that need to be overhauled, lack of physicality, concentration, pace and creativity has been a problem for long time, Barca needs to stop overhyping young players who may show potential initially but fail eventually as a fine finished product, otherwise Barca will never improve with these wrong players and be a mid-table team at best.

The project, as it is right now, was supposed to be build upon tremendous pressure. All those levers were not pulled, all this money was not spent, all these players were not bought to have time and experiment. They were meant to be competitive now and bring money into the club that was in a cataclysmic situation previously. So the sportive performance was meant as a pillar to bring back prosperity to the club. And Xavi knew it from the start. So the pressure was in the job description and will be in the job description for any manager that takes over this club

Barcelona needs to fully re-enter the era of implementing homegrown players into their squad and fix their finances rather than waste any money as soon as possible. We shouldn’t be focusing on buying a treble winning team, but rebuilding a team that can last for years and gradually work towards titles. Commented this in another vid but I never wanted Xavi to be sacked or to depart the club. All I wanted was for him to reorganize and rethink some of the lineup decisions that have really hurt us match upon match, even some of the subs he’s made. He also allowed the lack of one player profile negatively affect his game plan this season when that shouldn’t be considering how other coaches have done it. Xavi’s downfall really started when he lost that mentality he initially brought to the club.(including players starting on a clean slate every season and no favoritism). He was even a bit more experimental in his first half season(when he came up with some weird 3-3-3-1 formation at some point). He just got too comfortable.

While I agree I would say our squad was worse last season we were lucky to have won the league as Madrid was in poor form and had major injury problems. What made this team as good as it was last season was the defensive performances our current system doesn’t help with the defensive side of our team and on the offensive front we lack movement and speed of playing our passes at times.

Everybody is claiming that Xavi is too inexperienced to handle the pressure of being the boss at FC Barcelona. This is partly true but one should not forget that even Pep Guardiola couldn't manage more than 4 seasons there. Even after winning a historic treble, 3 la liga titles and another champions league title, Pep felt that he couldn't handle the pressure. He has said it publicly that it's virtually impossible for a manager to stay at FC Barcelona for a long period of time. It's not just the local media that shreds the manager for any real or perceived weaknesses. Fan pages on social media are way too toxic and build a negative narrative around the manager and players when the team isn't doing well. The club president will also face heavy criticism if the results aren't going well. This pressure will ultimately trickle down to the manager. This means that it's almost impossible to execute long term projects at Barca.

Top managers with proven records will be hesitant to join Barca. For the moment, the biggest issue is the CDM position. It's not a glamorous role but without it, the team doesn't function properly. Just look at Man City. Even they concede more goals and struggle to win without Rodri. Xavi has to find a solution for this. I don't know how.

Why is Casado not playing? Because for 1. We can’t just put all young/ B team players because there are RULES in la liga that don’t allow you to just put a bunch of players not registered with the first team in the starting 11. 2. Putting lewandowski instead of victor Roque or Marc G would be an even bigger criminal offense because with only 45 minutes under his belt roque is always being questioned by the Spanish media about his price and how he has missed some chances, tf would they do to a 18 year old kid in the media if he started and played bad? It’s good that lewa is the one taking the hits not our kids 🤦‍♂️. 3. The way he has lined up Pedri and lamine has been good, Lamine is clearly playing the minutes out of emergency because he had WAY less minutes with a reliable and overly hated winger in raphinha healthy. Pedri has been managed very well actually he isn’t 17/18 when he needed a Xavi to manage him, he isn’t rushed and to show that it goes how estimated time for Pedri’s return are always longer than expected. The last one at first it was 10 days and then turned longer. Pedri isn’t being put into 90 minute games just the athletic Bilbao match. His minutes have all been managed very well since his last injury if not check them, if he started he never finished the match and 2 times off the bench…

You’re going to tell me he lacks experience but tell me what coach has lived the Barcelona pressure for as long as Xavi? Man I can feel your rage and frustration right now. But what Barcelona needs now is a solid system. Unfortunately the pressure was so heavy on Xavi that he lost faith in his system and started relying on the players. At the beginning his system was working well. They had an style of play and you could clearly identify the elements that needed to be slightly improved for it to work. But at some point, the players became more important than the system, so much so that one key player missing meant the whole system fell off. Xavi shouldn't be the center of Barca's problem this season but he could have done himself a ton of favor had he been a tiny bit keen on experimentation. Here's a few things I can think of: 1. Very early on in the season, we have seen that Lewa wasn't working and Ferran Torres was having a good impact off the bench. He could off tried starting Ferran over Lewa. But I understand that benching Lewa early on the season would not be good for confidence and he couldn't write Lewa's contribution off and completely rely on Ferran. 2. Romeu is not 1% of Busquets. Everyone realized this after a few matches. Instead of relying on FDJ and Gundo for the pivot, there were options which were worth trying. Casado/Pau Prim/Christenten could have started in the pivot. Would that be a brave call? Yes. But it's also a call worth taking. 3. Xavi couldn't utilize Fermin properly. After Gavi's injury, the team needed a robust ball-winning midfielder. One who starts the counter press and close spaces for the opponent. Fermin is the profile who is needed especially if you don't have a pivot. My general criticism of Xavi has been his system. He plays with a 10 who isn't a natural goal-scorer and LW who couldn't cross. Players are too rigid and predictable.

the gundogan project was a good idea but everyone should have seen this midfield dream of de jong pedri and gundo would never work as gundo or de jong has never shown the ability to play as a sitting midfielder by theirselves at the back of a midfield in possession, they don’t have the defensive awareness of a world class 6 like rice rodri busquets or even kessie last year. frenkie plays best as someone to collect the ball off the 6 and advance into the lcm role while gundo does the same at his best with the occasional runs he makes in the box it just leads to our exposed defensive we need a real 6 with defensive awareness and pace control like thomas partey

Busquets protected the defense as well as ter stegan xavi’s system was improving because there was still Barca blood there last season players nowadays understand tactics but not football. Real players like Messi Ronaldo Sudanese ozil griezmann pirlo the whole generation prior understood the game and were able to expand on it. Those players were students who branched off to develop their own game these players nowadays are robots and I blame pep because although he brought us one of the best teams of all time his growth as a tactician restricted players too much on the pitch and mentally as a result players In started to drop and they started following orders so much rather than thinking for themselves . As a result other coaches followed along with pep’s Philosophy. I think ur being a little too optimistic about the Napoli game. They’re going through a very rough patch in the Serie A right now sure, but for a while they where doing well, while Barca has sucked for the whole season, in LaLiga which is frankly less competitive right now. It's not only that the team needs to win games - the style Barca plays is bad - no speed , no energy, no surprise, boring to watch them. I feel like this whole situation is a bit unfair with Xavi since this season has been overall complicated with all those injured players and some other issues in the games. So I don't think he is to blame for the poor results. I wish he would decide to become a trainer on a different team without the pressure of Barcelona and this whole toxic supporters and press. I would love to see him trying again with more experience. Barcelona play's a system which is best understood by the players who played in in. Examples being-Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique and xavi. Now hard part is to find replacement, because Luis and Pep wont leave their respective clubs at this given point. So they have to go for a former player. Now people are telling jose to come but lets be honest the actual HARDCORE fans like the people born in Catalunya wont accept him. Plus board will have issues with him because he disrespected Johan Cruyff who brought barca to the limelight in the 90's (yea without him we wont be even known as a big club). Will Jose come?
