When it's not dimed, it totally sounds like a "Marshall in a box" - great thrash sounds! I think the sound highlights the intent of BOSS to make an affordable Marshall-sounding distortion. The chainsaw sound was probably an accident. But to be fair, it's an accident that I love!

Thanks for throwing that harms way riff in there! I think they’ve done a great job of using an hm2 style pedal into something useable that sounds both heavy and hard (which isn’t easy). Not sure if they used it on post human but they were prior. I know he had a abominable throne torcher and an amp tweaker tight metal. Great video as always, cheers

Sounds sick. I was never a fan of the original, but this one can be dialed in nicely. Love the stuff Silas does. Still rockin the mudkiller on my board, its not going anywhere. Nice demo brother 🤘

I’m old enough to have bought an hm2 new when they came out. I bought it for a metal sound and got rid of it pretty quickly. Considered it a mistake then and have never really changed my mind lol. Don’t understand the buzz around this sound. When I’m checking out a pedal or amp this is exactly what I’m hoping not to find!

The HM-2 thing is definitely a very specific sound! It's one I don't chase, myself, but certain people are really able to make it sound both unique and musical. Not all, that's for sure. LOL

I watched Ola run a boss HM-2 through the effects loop and through the clean channel of an amp and it actually sounded really damn good.after all it is designed as a pre amp at least to my understanding.

Hello, I would like to recommend to you on this pedal to maybe run through your vtm60. I have the grindstein and the Japanese HM2 and they kill going through the vtm60.

@BrunoGomes6662 жыл бұрын
Oh, the sweet sound of an HM-2 completely maxed! 😍Like a chainsaw cutting through flesh and bone! 😈Not for everyone I know, but there's a way to get its grindyness and being very tight. Try a blend of a standard distortion with the HM-2 fully dialed.

I think a nice example of what I mean is early At The Gates. This (amazing) song is a good example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4PLnnZua5qGfas
@kaoskult6662 жыл бұрын
Not quite the same as a HM2, kinda similar to Kohle's Grindstein. Id say its more of the Gothenburg sound ( inflames, At the Gates Dark Tranquility etc) rather than the Stockholm (Dismember, Entombed, Entrails)
@shredward6662 жыл бұрын
Great demo Kyle. My favorite HM2 pedal is the Dunwich Left Hand Path. I own two of them and have used them on several recordings. In my band I run it straight into the clean channel of my ENGL Powerball, the tone is so brutal and angry it sounds like a sasquatch bangin a grizzly bear 🤘🤘
@belligerentamateur2 жыл бұрын
AWesome! Haven't heard of that one, I'll have to check it out some time!

@@belligerentamateur I know your focus is gear, I wouldn't mind hearing about your musical influences,

That sound is geared more towards single note tremolo picking with the occasional power chords thrown in. Give Bloodbath a sound if you haven’t already. Great shit with that classic Swedish death sound.

Hey I know this might be a video you already made. However is there any way you could shoot out your soldano versus One of your rectifiers? I'd love to hear them the way you record I think they sound similar but I've never gotten to compare both.

Hey Kyle. Would you say the Middle and Treble interact with each other like a Parametric EQ? Thanks.
@thedanksavatron77822 жыл бұрын
At least this pedal has some sort of EQ control! HM2 is a 400lb wasp holding a chainsaw who downed half a dozen Red bulls!

Yo Kyle, how is the neck profile on those Balaguer?
@belligerentamateur2 жыл бұрын
This one has the C profile, and I personally really enjoy it. Nice middle ground between fat and slim. Feels fast but not like a shredder neck. Still enough chunk for chords

This honestly sounds nothing like 'that' HM2 sound man. Great playing as always!

No doubt, wouldn't be my main tone by any means, but maybe a nice raunchy underlayer tone to get something unique out of a recording!
