Any 2.5mm will work if you plug it into the included 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable BUT 3.5mm plugged directly into the adapter will only work if your mic/headset is CTIA standard. Many are OMTP (ground and mic reversed) and while you will hear everything, the mic won't work. You need an OMTP to CTIA adapter from ebay if your headset mic doesn't work and you are using the 3.5mm cable directly. Also most other 2.5mm to 3.5mm converters won't work (output in OMTP), so don't lose the cable that comes with the adapter.

it doesn't sound the same. it only outputs stereo sound, whereas the mix amp gives it 7.1 dolby digital surround sound and your eq modes

My girlfriend is trying to use the Gen 1 Astro 40's without the Mix Amp. She has the Stereo Adapter. What size is the wire that she needs to use to plug into the Stereo Adapter? I know the Stereo Adapter is 3.5mm, but what size is the Astro's port? She has Gen 1, so is that size also 3.5mm? Will she need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, a 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable?

***** okay thanks , I've been looking into the Razer megalodons and I seem to have hit a problem, I need a female USB to a male 3.5 jack ,and then if it doesn't work I'll have to buy a male 3.5 OPTM to a male 3.5 CTIA. The reason being is that the adapter only accepts CTIA 3.5 jacks and not OPTM which is used by a lot of headsets sadly..than is for replying too!

Hey man I'm using the turtle beach xo sevens. The headset is plugged into the mix amp and the controller adapter plugged into the mic for the mix amp but the mic doesn't seem to be working . Hey question, The current setup I have is Xbox one, Astro mix amp, Happauge HD PVR2 capture card, OBS and turtle beaches. I am able to get everything to my stream including music from PC, game sound, my voice and team mates voices but I am now getting the 3 second delay sound that my capture card or OBS is picking up. I have my turtle beaches plugged straight into the mix amp and if I turn down the capture card sound, it fixes the issue but now it mutes the game and chat volume that goes to my stream. Basically im hearing everything correctly through my headset, but then get the echo of what im hearing 3 seconds later from the capture card. Is there a way to mute what my capture card or OBS picks up, in my ear BUT still allow it to go to stream?

I believe the reason for this is because capture cards naturally have a delay when relaying the information from the console to the computer, so you may need to offset your voice in OBS. If it seems like everything is in sync, go to your computer's sound settings and mute the PVR software. Hopefully this helps!

Hmm... I know that the adapter is pretty sensitive. Try making sure it is plugged in all the way, both the adapter and your wires. It's happened to me before and I just had to make sure all connections were tight.

Tibor Kurtovic As a matter of fact, it is possible! There is a port on the mix amp for mp3. Simply plug in the wire to the mix amp and phone (or other music device) and listen while you play. Another way to make this work is have the USB cable for the mix amp to be plugged into your computer. That way you can play music from there while also getting sound through the optical cable/chat cord from the xbox. :)

I'm not sure, man. I know that the hissing sound may be because the adapter is very finicky, so you need to be sure it is very firmly connected. Not sure about not getting the 2.5mm cable.

I think I might know what your problem is. On the adapter there should be a little picture of a mic. Press that and then keep pressing the "+" button to increase chat volume. Hopefully that fixes the issue!

Ian Warda Hey, the only thing I can think of would be to make sure your mic isn't muted, make sure you don't have the Kinect set as your mic. If that doesn't work, I would say ask Astro when they are back at work.

Ian Warda I'm not completely sure how the red light on the Kinect works, but sometimes my Kinect will be my mic if my controller shuts off. Double check everything, make sure all wires are plugged in correctly, make sure mic isn't muted. Also make sure the adapter is plugged in all the way. It can be slightly out without realizing it.

You need to buy a 2.5 mm male to 2.5 mm male aux cable. Then you need to buy a 3.5 male to 2.5 female adapter cable. This is CRUCIAL: the 3.5 mm jack needs to be 4-pole. In other words, it needs to have 4 distinct portions to it. Or if you look at it, you'll see it has 3 black bands. So when you get the adapter cable, look how many bands the jack has. If 3, then you're good. It also goes by the term '4-pole' as I mentioned earlier. I'm not positive whether or not you need a 4-pole for the 2.5 mm male to 2.5 mm male but I think it'll work with a 3-pole (2 black bands)
