Anyone else cringe hard when he started cleaning the cpu? First thing I was taught when repairing computers and xboxes, never use metal to clean that shit.
@julianhinojosa23119 жыл бұрын
+John Bishop lol yeah in my Hardware class they said the same no metal to processors.. ESD damage. His isn't the worst but some bad habits can kill a machine...I am pretty comfortable disassembling hardware but I really stay away from "fixing" stuff until it's actually broke. Some people feel the need to crack open a machine at first signs of overheating. I personal think unless its shutting down I don't open.

DO NOT REMOVE THE X-CLAMP WITH PLYER'S LIKE THIS AMATUER! it was killing me watching you destroy the X-clamps! you have no idea how to remove those without damaging them. If you use 2 flat head screw drivers and come in from the side on both sides, there is a slot you put the tip of the screw driver in and then rotate and it will pry the bottom out and just pop them right out of the slot/locking point without destroying the clamp. the way you did it destroyed the clamp and now you have made it weak by stressing it and changing it's factory pressed shape and now it will not provide the same even tension. I REPEAT - DO NOT REMOVE THE X-CLAMP LIKE THIS GUY DOES!

Thanks for the video. My XBOX ONE AW edition started getting the "ventilation error" and shutting down. The new series X is backordered everywhere so I had to fix the one I had. Your video helped tremendously, I didn't break anything and it's now running fine. Thanks again. I used arctic MX-4, plastic scraper and isopropyl alcohol to clean the CPU.

Freaking awesome man, sincere thanks for this tutorial on the Xbox One. I've fixed the dvd rom drive on my 360 as well as the power brick. The PSU brick had the fan freeze inside it so after some exploring with the right tools I discovered the small fan had frozen. I tested the fan with a 9v battery for just a few moments to make the discovery. The dvd rom was simple after listening to it running, soldered the main drive board into a new body and walla. Thanks again for the schoolage and you're right about the heat sink over the CPU/GPU, it's about time they used better thermal architecture.
@LethalAngellxo7 ай бұрын
Thanks to this video I successfully (and carefully) took mine apart, cleaned the dust and debris out of the fan, put new thermal paste (with a plastic scraper/poker than comes with pc cleaning equipment) and then reassembled it. I'd use other videos to watch for disassembly purposes so you don't break or damage your Xbox/the seal. Anyways, it is now working better and not overheating at the slightest bit of use. Yay me I guess?

@treyc370710 жыл бұрын
to remove the x-clamp, i have always used a wide flathead screwdriver on the lip of each side of the clamp; to protect the board, i have a cutout of cardboard that goes over the area around the x-clamp. its pretty efficient. just dangerous if you are not careful. just a bit of advice :)

Excellent. Finally decided to clean the dust and dirts out from the inside of XBOX ONE ELITE. It turned a year old in February of this year so it was time for a cleaning. I also wanted to comment on the Thermal Compound Microsoft uses. Personally, I find it to be horrible. You need: Q-Tips, a NEW single edge razor blade (a used blade could scratch the gpu), a couple of paper towels, and Isopropyl Alcohol (any drug store has this). Make Sure the alcohol is not rubbing alcohol, as it contains oil. You want pure alcohol ... usually 93%, w/the inactive ingredient being water. Use the blade to clean up the top of the GPU & Heat Sink Mating surface. Dip the Q-tip into the Alcohol, then roll the tip on the Paper towel so the Q-tip is just damp. Clean up both surfaces, finishing up w/ a dry Q-tip. Apply a Good Thermal Compound ...( I recommend you study up on what has tested best ) to the Processor, then use the razor blade to evenly distribute it. You want the Paste to be thick enough so you cannot see the Processor, but don't get heavy with it. It isn't necessary. Do the same to the mating surface on the Heat sink. The heat being generated from my X-Box dropped considerably. A cool running Game Box is a Happy one. It will last longer, and will eliminate many problems associated with a system that runs hot. J

Ok....I have watched people time and time again struggle with removing the X-Clamp Type I am currently viewing. This clamp is SO easy to remove. Ok ... Look at the clamp From the side, and how it is secured. you'll notice the round pin is slotted. The clamp is in a U shape, bending around and fitting into this slot. Notice also how the clamp itself is slightly bent downward. Take a pair of Vice-Grips, and clamp it onto the end of the X-Clamp, being careful(!!) to have enough pressure to securely hold the clamp, but not so much as to bend or damage the clamp. It's better for your first try to not be tight enough than to have it too tight. Simply move the Vice-grips towards the center, thereby lifting the Clamp out of the slotted Pin ...gently lift. It's off! repeat. Note: Do NOT let go of the Vice-grips during this process. You don't want the Vice grips to fall onto the board. Once you've done this for the first time, it will become clear how well designed this X-Clamp really is, as it so very firmly holds the hardware on the other side. :-)....and how ridiculously simple it is to remove it. Jay P.S. Computers have been a hobby of mine Since 1993. I've built so many computers in the past years that I know all sorts of little things that apparently drive people nuts, but I Can breeze through. If you ever run into such a problem in the future. write me. I just may know an answer to your road block. J

When I disassembled my Xbox One yesterday to find out why my fan was making this odd noise I discovered that the plastic on the wireless card (bit that houses the pins) is flimsy and one side snapped off while gently wiggling it to get it off. Still works and still connects back thank god... also one of the plastic latches on the main fan snapped so now it only has three instead of four. LOL. Just as well I ordered a new fan as the current one I have will not be quiet, even after adding some mineral oil to try and quieten it down. Hopefully the new fan is quiet.
