i'm planning on buying the series s from the US because it's cheaper. The Series S damn near cost R10 000 and when you import it from the US is approximately R6000.

Solid plan bro, just check with the import taxes though, SARS has substabtially increased them. It is better if you know someone from there who is coming this side, they can buy it, unbox it and bring it in as their own console.

Series s is terrible value you can't buy physical games which saves a lot of money and the expandable storage on xbox is very overpriced so might aswell buy the more powerfull series x

I understand how you may feel that way, for me it is value for money because I just use gamepass for games and I only play a few at a time. I have felt at times more storage would be great but mostly just for extra games I don't end up playing simultaneously either way. So for me it works, like I said, the X is amazing and there will be people who will afford it and need it, but for everybody else, the s is amazing. I think the way everything is going with subscription models anyways, they're gonna make physical games obsolete. I respect your view.
