PSG1 - Black Ops Multiplayer Weapon Guide

In this episode we're covering the PSG1.
It's a semi-automatic weapon, unlocked once you've purchased the other three sniper rifles.
The Präzisionsschützengewehr, or 'Precision-shooter rifle', is a German sniper rifle manufactured by Heckler und Koch.
The rifle was first produced in 1972.
It was the Munich massacre at the 1972 Summer Olympics that sparked German rifle development - the inadequacy of the equipment available to German police at the time would be subject to much criticism.
Both the HK PSG1 and Walther WA2000 were introduced in the wake of the event - and the elite counter-terrorist unit, GSG 9, was formed in 1973.
The PSG's design is based on that of the G3 battle rifle - the German service rifle since 1959.
Although accurate enough for infantry needs, the PSG-1 pushed the limits of the platform - making for what was then 'the most accurate semi-automatic rifle in the world.'
With added telescopic scope, heavier free-floating barrel, and adjustable stock - the PSG-1 design is indeed designed for accuracy, although it came with a correspondingly high price tag.
The PSG1 fires the 7.62-by-51 millimetre NATO cartridge, as does the parent G3 design.
Magazines are 5 rounds in capacity, or 10 with extended mags.
The real-steel rifle will also accept 20 round mags - or even a 50-round drum.
Damage-wise, the PSG falls between the two low damage rifles - the Dragunov and WA2000 - and the high damage bolt-action rifle, the L96A1.
It will kill in one shot to the head, neck, chest, or stomach - but when silenced, only a hit to the head or neck will be a one-shot kill.
Rate of fire is semi-automatic, and is capped at a fairly generous 235 rounds per minute.
This can be useful as a last-ditch defense at a close range - although hipfire performance is poor, sometimes one lucky bullet can save you from a close-range assailant.
Under normal use, you'll want to keep your rate of fire moderate, as otherwise the fairly heavy recoil will disrupt your aim.
Follow-up shots are relatively quick, however - so you can make good use of the semi-automatic nature of the PSG should you miss a shot and need to readjust quickly.
Aim time is slow, as expected for a sniper rifle - with the PSG taking 400 millseconds to scope in.
Reloads are relatively frequent but are manageable enough, at 3.2 seconds.
The PSG1 is the most versatile weapon within the sniper rifle category: it blends power with a good potential for follow-up shots in those cases where you need them.
Its one-shot performance is almost identical to the L96A1, save for the upper portion of the arm: in practical terms this doesn't make much difference in per-shot lethality.
Unlike the bolt-action, you can fire more quickly with the semi-auto PSG - although recoil will greatly limit accurate shooting, the increased output will prove very useful in closer quarters.
Of course, like all of the other sniper rifles the PSG1 is utterly dependent on planning and positioning - with painfully slow handling you'll be at a severe disadvantage in a close-range gunfight, or should you find yourself in the open.
Such is the price of wielding a one-shot kill weapon - and while you might not have much in the way of reactive ability, when you're lying in wait ahead of your enemy, they won't stand much of a chance against your devastating power.
Indeed, such lethality is rewarding when employed correctly - few other weapons can reach out as far as a sniper rifle, and deny passage over such a wide area.
When positioned correctly and aimed true: this precision-engineered rifle...
will always hit the right spot.

I really liked this sniper it was my favorite sniper in Black Ops 1 and my second favorite gun of all time My class was Psg1 with suppressor Cz75 with suppressor Lethal:Tomahawk Tactical:Flash bang Equipment:Camera spike Perks: Ghost Pro Scout Pro Marathon Pro It was a total stealth class and I loves using it.

DragonBreath292 There's no point in using it with the suppressor; the WA2000 and Dragunov have identical damage when suppressed but have faster RoF and lower recoil.

As I watch you do this I'm realizing for one, you have a much easier time getting in target. My bet is you have a bigger screen lol. I'm using a crappy old giant box tv with a screen much smaller than average. Also it seems you've often got a good team. I cannot for the life of me get a team that has one person with more than a .5 kd by the end of the game. It's caused me to nearly quit playing all together.

As per usual Stu I enjoy your video and find it to be both informative and structured. I was not wild about the recommended perks though, and, before anyone rages, I realize it is simply that, a recommended set up. I would have thought with this class Ghost pro, Warlord for the V scope and Ex mags and finally Marathon for running more and repositioning, or Ninja for stealth.

Psg-1 with acog, extended mags, steady aim and a full auto cz-75 is my favourite sniper class in black ops For my assault rifle class I would take either g11 low power scope, Enfield with acog or Aug acog with cz75 Smg I would take mpl grip, Uzi grip, pm63 grip skorpion extended mags & grip or spectre grip & reflex and asp to be honest I like most the smg's, the ak-74u with launcher is a cool unique class For my lmg I would take either the H&K 21 extended mags or rpk acog with a cz75 as backup Never use shotguns in call of duty, smg's are way better M72 law is a good weapon too As you can tell the cz75 is my favorite pistol, it makes a good backup weapon, and with full auto it makes a good backup to snipers For close rage and a generic class on small maps the mpl grip is my favorite smg, the spectre with grip & reflex is good for close to mid range For mid range or a generic combat class for mid-big maps I like the Aug or Enfield with the acog. The Swarovski scope on the Aug and susat on the Enfield I find way better than the generic or Russian acog. Also they look better, they fit the weapon properly, unlike the scopes looking just wrong on a lot of guns. Extended mags works well on the Aug too. I wish you could shoot the g11 in full auto, but it with low power scope, or psg-1 acog is my favorite for mid range to long range, or bigger maps. And for long range/camping I would pick the hk21 extended mags sometimes with a thermal or a l96 variable zoom or thermal with claymores, ghost and a full auto cz75 for backup. This isn't my usual play style though. Black ops is one of my favorite call of duty games, and the Cold War is my favorite setting for shooting games, a mix of ww2 and modern technology is my favorite setting. You can include modern guns that were the latest tech then, but established now, like the m16, aug, mp5, l96 and spas-12. You can include Cold War classics like the fn fal, Uzi, G3/CETME, mas49/56, m14, sterling, ak-47 and others And ww2 guns that were used well into the Cold War, like the grease gun, m1 carbine, sks, rpd, sten, Suomi smg, p38, 1911, Thompson, mg42/mg3, Mauser, Enfield and Mosin bolt actions and loads more. Would be cool to have a game set in the mid-late 70's which bridges the gap. The 70's was when the us army stopped using the Thompson, but it was also when the Austrian army adopted the Steyr AUG. So there could be a huge mix of guns. There's loads of tech which is interesting from this era too, like infa-red equipment, rifle grenades, crank action grenade launchers, exploding ammo, miniguns and you can still have things like red dot sights and scopes on certain guns. I think it's the perfect time period to set a first person shooter. You can satisfy the ww2 fanboys and the modern shooter fanboys at the same time. Just have some missions set in Africa/South America in the 70's. Most of the kit you will see will be us/Russian/British and French ww2 gear, depending on the country. That could be your ww2 fix, and have some 'secret agent' style missions, and they have the latest gear, so there's your modern fix. Then you could have some military themed missions, there is your classic Cold War fix. Vietnam is a winning option, and there's still Australians which haven't had much screen time in the Vietnam war. There's also plenty of conflicts in Africa and the Middle East, and I think the Rhodesian bush war would be a winning topic.

It's been a long time since I've played Black Ops. The PSG1 was my Sniper of choice too. I had Variable Zoom or the Extended Mags too like you suggested but not the perks. Next time I get on, I'll change it and see how it goes. Thanks man.

+ElectricPyroclast Likely due to the lower sway level the PSG1 possesses. The L96A1 possesses far and away the highest sway values for a sniper rifle in Black Ops, and fires about five times as slower than the semi-automatic sniper rifles.

The WA2000 has a lower zoom magificaion making it superior at mid range and it can gain an aditional advantage at longer ranges thanks to the variable zoom.

I really think that the PSG1 makes for an excellent offensive weapon. If you fit an ACOG and extended mags, scavenger, warlord (obviously) and... whatever you like :P, you can really do some damage up close.

I would think with that class set up, hardened pro would also be a perk you could use, as you would obviously be being shot at by the annoyed members of the enemy team, and less flinch when you're shot would be incredibly useful for a sniper.

I have much anticipation not only for Black ops 2 zombies themselves but the weapons, as their is a possibility of a solar gun or even the Tesla coil cannon. I'm even excited for their being a chance of their being new perks. Such as had an idea for a perk that would give you a discount for any perks you had before you died. Say a 60% decrease of price just to stay out of a cycle. My point is do you yourself Stu have any weapon predictions for Black ops 2 zombies?

no it's a coincidence lots of triggers look like that. It's a stanard trigger with a stop on the back of it so you dont have wasted trigger pull ( like a scuff controler )
