For most of our time in Algodonales we had a high pressure and inversion limiting climbs to about 800m. But for a few glorious few hours the thermals managed to punch holes in the inversion and squirt us up high. We managed to plan, and fly, a short XC that took us from Algodonales to the lovely city of Rhonda over the beautiful Rhonda Valley.
Three of us flew, Lee, Gerry (me) and Barry - who was out in Spain doing his first XC flying. He also had the fastest wing in the whole of Spain that day, an overloaded Ion 3. Easily outpacing my High B - Triple Seven Rook 3 and Lee’s High C - Gin Bonanza 2. PGWC Pilots take note!
We were guided, expertly by the legend that is Lee Tryhorn from Free Flight Academy. Thanks for the amazing mentoring and for finding the only, perfect slot in the weather to make this possible.
