Mr happy, you should also note that a matched party vs a fixed party, a fixed party keeps pomanders between floor sets so saving +treasure drop/chance items for the later floors can be done to help people with lvl 25+ gear get them faster.

This was fun. I hope there's more later down the line. I'm challenging myself to see how far I can get solo Pld. From what I've experienced solo, its not really the mobs that are a problem, but the traps mess me up really hard. Got me playing like Dark Soul a bit. Everything is cautious, even the chests.

Interestingly I had some terrible luck the 1st 2 floor sets, I was unable to continue as it told me my gear level was too low and had to reset at floor 21 as I was unable to continue

Once they've got some levels on them, you can only level them up in the higher floors, so you really just have to keep grinding. Just use everything that causes chests to spawn more often, and keep grinding.

the one bad thing, is you get teased with all these cool new abilities, then go back to normal. plus it reeeally messes up your hotbar. You you either leave it with lots of unusable skills, or stop every now n again inside potd, to rearange your skills

If you have a good 2 healer 2 DPS group, you can definitely split the group into halves and cover the dungeon faster.

You miss out on xp that way, and people are thinking the caps for where your upgraded weapon starts increasing again are based on character level. It's fine for say, 1-20 (and for those levels you don't need a healer in either one tbh), but eventually you want to start catching back up on xp and ideally be at or close to 60 by the F40 boss imo.

Great video and very helpful! I just started ffxiv arr myself and have a lvl 23 Rogue so if I start the quest for PoTD can I switch to a different job and lvl it in PoTD or must all the jobs I wish to lvl need to be lvl 17+ at least?

Hey question for you mister happy, what are you using to cast spells and abilities? Like what keys are assigned to each spell? I normally play on ps4 but just started playing on pc. I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and know I'm gonna have to upgrade bc there's no number pad on it. But for the time being I use two rows of abilities, to access the second row, I have to hold the control button. This is super inconvenient to do, I always have one hand on my mouse to dodge aoe's... I dunno man. Sorry this is so long but I see u got like 4 rows of spells up there, wondering how u use everything without playing twister with ur fingers and getting carpril tunnel.

blackcat7k how would you implement a system like that? I think there should be online tests that players should take to prove they understand the mechanics of a given dungeon. There could even be class tests that challenge your ability to DPS, tank, or, heal with increasing difficultly. As far as general knowledge of the game, every one can take an exam. All these tests are optional of course, but other players should be able to examine your achievements to know if you are tested and qualified.

Back in the day, companies used to have questionnaires when you logged into the game. Where they asked you a few questions. I know early Everquest did that a few times. Give out a costume/weapon/emote/title if you give them feed back on where you get your information. Vetting players would be good idea, especially now that they're allowing players to skip whole swaths of FFXIV's content for money. It may actually need to be on the level of what that Amercia's Army game did for some of their classes. You couldn't even make the game's medic class unless you went through the game's bootcamp. With the way developers want to sell skipping, getting out game mechanics, and straight boosting for money... There really needs to be a solid way for players to protect a user's time and have more tools at the disposal to quickly ascertain if they want to even bother with a run by figuring out the wipe potential of the group. Players don't want things like gear score and whatever to check them. However, asking users to waste their time on the unknown isn't fair to those who actually put the time in to learn the game's mechanics.

2 things, The boss you said that was useless... Me and my gf died to him a few times because of low dps from lack of upgrades. and 2nd I think it's worth mentioning in your guide that all the enemies have full hitboxs that take away the positional requirements.

I agree on the lvl 40 boss Ixtab. He was my first challenge and my first team wiped badly there. Didn't know about the mechanic where his scream can do 80% damage. I was tanking so I'm not sure if our DPS dudes didn't kill the ads quick enough or what. But I have read that you should top off your HP before his scream unleashes.

So can this be used to teach you a job you want to learn before committing to it like Ninja, Black mage or Monk as a LV1 Rogue ,Thaumaturge or Pugilist? Or is it only limited to the Abilities of that starter Job? Do I have to have Ninja unlocked to start gaining the Ninja skills?

He does say something about this : rogue is a class - ninja is a job. You won't get job skills if you go in as a class.

I think it is worth mentionin, that you can gain +30/+30 on your aetherpool equipment at the lower levels - no need to be deep for them. There is no soft cap of any other restrictions on the levelups of the things. I personally had +30/+30 before I ever cleared floors 21-30, because I had a varying pool of friends who wanted to run the low floors, so there was a lot of repeating the low ones. Sure the chanses of getting a raise from a chest are higher from the end floors, but they will go up just fine on the lower floors aswell. I actually got my final +30 to armor on dungeon floor 3 ;)

I know many of you have already farmed your weapon. How many full 1-50 clears did it take you? Took me 7, a friend of mine just finished her 9th and is at 29/30. In that time I also got 2 potsherds from bronze chests, and once got a +3 upgrade from a chest. Also had two runs where I only got one upgrade the whole time. The rng in there is brutal.

wow, that's a lot of clears. How long does a clear take? Suppose one could farm the later floors instead as well.

KnightRaymund Sadly you can't just farm the later floors; you have to reset at floor 1 every time you finish floor 50. Nor does failing the duty to redo 41+ indefinitely work because it resets your weapon to where it was before you entered. However intentional failing is very viable if you only get say, 2 upgrades or less on 41+ and this is a huge reason to use a fixed group imo. Usually takes me about 3 hours, maybe a little more. However, my tank has been pulling carefully (see:slowly) on later floors. If you were speedrunning it then 2 is feasible. But, we've also had no wipes since I've been running it with that dude, whereas some of my friends clearing A8S are wiping in there because they get complacent at how easy it is then get hit by the big fist of roguelike RNG, so there's kind of a limit to how fast you want to do it. Also, you want to enter F41+ with 3 fortune and 3 affluence, and kill all the enemies, including from lure traps (use Sight and it's the one that looks vaguely like a cross), every time you pop a fortune (and possibly even if you didn't) which can get you on average about 2 extra silvers.

I maxed my Bard to lvl80 at the start of Stormblood, and never really paid attention to PoTD that much, and then this one quest requires me to finish the floor50 of PoTD, so Im doing it with my friend a Dark Knight. I used my scholar. Do you think we can reach floor 50? With just the 2 of us?

I'd say yes too. Not good at archer, didn't like archer at all. Going into the POTD, gave me a better appreciation of the Archer/Bard. Found out ranged DPS has a ton of strengths.

Johnnie Smith with a good party you can make it in 45min to an hour....most times it'll take 1hr an half in my experience. But time varies according to experience an if your party is doing speed runs.

I just had a group started with 2 warriors a monk and a blm 41-50. I(warrior) start out with the monk behind me as the blm found his way to coffer with a mimic almost instant death the other warrior though tried his best fell to it as well. Mind you this is our 1st floor. We pushed to the revive Carin where after the second enemy in the room and two left the monk decides to try another route solo as the blm leaves the duty. I finish killing the third as the monk dies and then kill the fourth. Still not enough so i find I Minotaur patrolling and kill that. Finally I can revive them as the monk wanted me to suicide. The moment I revive them we get a great healer 😃. Saving the run but pressed for time we made it to Edna. Unfortunately the other warrior and I are were the only ones to not got hit by cold feet and after the second cast of it enough glyphs were lit. Very long story short...a waste of my time yet an enjoyable one nonetheless.

Even after defeating the final boss, if you task manager and end task on FFXIV before leaving you CAN reset your progress and re-run 41-50 again even if you were in matched. It worked for me a few days ago, so until they patch it... it's an option without screwing your party. There are also some easter egg mobs inside the Palace of the Dead.

Greetings. Can anyone or Mr.Happy make a "general" suggestion of the minimum level that you should reach/be at the beggining of each FL10 〜＞20〜＞30 etc... This migth be different depending on class, but just an "ideal" lv so restart in case of been impossible if didnt reach X or Y by this or that FL. Of course, player skills/items knowledge etc makes a dif, but lets assume that ppl did their homework. If this has been posted else were, plz be kind and lead me towards that information. I got my weapon and armor to +27/+28 on floors 1-10. The chance is just really low. So you dont need to get to 40-50 to get the +30 it just will take you more time.

If you wipe/leave without finishing a boss floor, regardless of fixed or matched, you will lose any aetherpool arm/armor upgrades you received on that group of floors. My fixed parties have been wiping deliberately to reset poor sets of floors

The worst thing is that a new ,,trend" is already forming where people purposely wipe on floor 49 if they havent gotten an upgrade... while i can see that ypu dont want to do floors 1-41 again simply for another chance of getting an upgrade this is insanely frustratrating and infuriatin, epecially in a matched party when u are farming the shards. today this happend 3 times to me where people pulled the entire floor and wiped the group because of this, and i think that this is, especially in a matched party, absolutely inacceptable, from now on i will report these players in the player support, im not accepting some cunts wasting my time because they didnt get their fucking upgrade.... i see you have adressed this in the video aswell, but i still had to complain
