The thing I am confused about is in AVP 2 the warriros are born with the ridged heads. those weren't that old yet they already shed their domes. So I'm confused what counts as a drone or warrior.

@@proto-guest4511 lol they just have accelerated growth. But I’m thinking since the Xenomorphs genetic code is so mailable with its ability to take on different properties, maybe there truly is no set form and as you said sometimes there are variations within strains of different hives.

@@proto-guest4511 yeah but I mean in avp2 when these Xenomorphs are born they are ridged headed Xenomorphs so they’re not as old as the ones in aliens to have ridged heads . So I guess maybe ridged heads isn’t determined by age?

Aliens fireteam elite should be the main canon in my opinion. Basically shows hives have multiple variations. The basic crawling smaller worker aliens. Then the higher evolved stronger variants are drone and warrior that occasionally come out. The drone hides, runs away, and grabs people, goes through holes and air vents. The warrior has a ridged head, and attacks head on. They both are of comparable size, with the warrior being slightly bulkier. They are both more grown/developed versions of xenomorphs. While the worker/juvenile xenomorphs only take a few hits to kill, it takes a ton of ammo to kill a drone or warrior. Then at the highest stage is the queens personal guard the praetorians. They are even harder to kill in terms of hp, but often will just stand there in the open. In addition, there’s also weird xenos that you can tell come from animals. There are prowler xenos who are red and run on fours like in alien 3 but bigger and more ridges. Then there’s the crusher alien, it’s big almost warrior sized but bulky on all fours and rams at you. Possibly from a bull or something. Or maybe warrior form of prowler.

A drone is a younger xenomorph. A warrior is a larger and more mature xenomorph.

According to some sources- the drone and warrior are two different adult xeno variants. The drone is smarter, and uses surprise attacks. The warrior is stronger and attacks you head on. But they are both of comparable size being over 7 feet

The director didn’t think that far through, just a design change. But according to extended lore the warrior is different from normal xenos and drones (which is basically a super smart adult xeno). So technically in modern extended media yes they were fighting warriors the whole time.
