Well, you’re right for most of the time. But there have been times that the judges were unnecessarily cruel. Like that kid on BGT who was a terrible dancer… Simon said ‘the truth is that you are absolutely useless.’ That’s cruel. He should have said ‘the truth is that you can’t dance to save your life’ - THAT would be both brutally honest and on point. But there’s no need to tell children they are ‘absolutely useless’ just because they can’t sing or dance. Humans who can’t sing or dance are still worthwhile as humans!

Parents: there is nothing wrong with being realistic. I have told my children, "you can do anything. I love this compilation! It was well-edited and actually very entertaining, not just another group of auditions slapped together. It does say Simon's savage moments but he was really very pleasant, and not even a shadow of his former self where he would be brutal with his rejections. There was a lot of thought that went into which auditions to include.
