Hi Chris - thanks , reading your comment about the nose reminded me of a joke (#Dadjoke) - My dog has no nose, how does it smell, really bad !!!! Bada boom. I have given the SU27 some TLC and we will see if I am repaid for my efforts next time I fly it.. The wind can make flying a challenge for sure. I managed a couple of flights recently but called it a day in the end as the wind was so strong. I didn’t want to risk any damage. It’s good experience though. Well done matey. 😊

Hi Sean - Indeed it is good experience flying in the wind but there are limits, and no point flying if you think you are going to crash - its just not worth it... Stay well Martyn

Very well flown in the wind Martyn, cockpit cam was brilliant, difficult to get a good landing when its breezy...jeff.

hi Jeff - thanks for you comment - very kind - I thought I was doing ok on the landing then cut the throttle and whomp - do she came LOL....lots to do to get her to 3 mins so no landing gear from RCC, I will look into making this one a hand launch and belly land, SU27... Stay well Martyn

Congratulations for getting her in the air! Next Sunday I'll post up a hand launch maiden with Russian livery 2200 4S. Going to poly-coat the bottom for belly landings.

That would be great - I want to make it into a hand launch as I think I will get more time to fly it - I will go back to the 2200 4S , So I hope your video will help me work it all out .. as I have no idea where or how to hold it, ... Thanks

All very interesting Martyn - was thinking of buying this as i am now happy with the Red Hawk, but that nose looks so susceptible to damage? Red Hawk hand launches very well, but is not good for grass take offs either. Many thanks for the videos and for being my guinea pig!

Hi Paul, The Red Hawk (the T-7A) and not the (K8) is fantastic regarding hand launching and flying times - totally agree regarding grass ops, this SU27 is NO T-7A not even close - but if I can sort out a consistent hand launch method for it I might see at least 3 min flying time.. Short but sweet (?) flight, Martyn. I think I'd have it as a hand launch only, plus take out the steering servo, too? For flying, add lightness.

Hi Gina - that's what I am looking at 3 min flights is just about acceptable but 2 mins including take-off - thanks just no good at all - someone left a comment saying 15% of the battery is eaten up due to the take off run it needs - so if we make it lighter, use the 2200 and hand launch we might just might get another minute out of it.. I think you should give yourself a pat on the back to have actually had 3 successful flights on a windy day like that!! The last time I flew on a 20mph day, I came home with a plane snapped in half!! Sometimes we've got to know when to pack up, so good call on that one 😀👍

Cheers Ian, very kind - I see you have been doing quite a bit of those whirly things - it's witch craft I tells ya,...... no wings !!!! and it flys !!! - LOL, Just messing about Ian, Wind can stop play as easy as Rain, such a shame, but as you say I got three in- also off work on Friday & Monday so have a nice 4 day weekend to see what maidens I can get out of the way..... it turns out that Xfly know about the nose breaking on Grass Fields - they have made a video recommending the removal of landing gear when using Grass... LOL...

I use 2800 with 80c and my batteries still come out warm

Ironmover do you hand launch ? if you do would like to know how you go about holding it... it does suck up the juice , How long do you get with a 2800 ??
