Great video as always, and some fantastic info on the setup / rates. Why do foamies always sound like shopping trolleys with the wheels on 😂😂😂
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
Thanks! You know its funny, but the reason is actually kind of simple...because they are electric, and we can hear it. That is the same sound wheels have always made on models, but back in the nitro days the sound of the engine concealed it. I have a few balsa models that can be either/or. Amazing how much noise the airframe makes vibrating as it rolls across the ground as an electric. With a gas engine...you don't hear it. Sometimes softer tires cut down on it, and sometimes not. With my 15cc Carbon Cub even with soft Du Bro Big Wheels its noisy rolling across the ground.

Great video as always! A comparison with the 64mm FMS/ E-flite would be nice in the future, they look very similar in size. Too bad they don't have working rudders, I miss having them especially lining up for landing.
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
Thanks! I've flown the E-flite 64. It has more power, the XFly looks more scale. Both are forgiving and fly really well. Yep, I also would prefer a rudder, but I think at the price point they are trying to keep them super simple.

It a good one for sure. The F-22 and this one are my favs in the series so far.
@RedFuryIIIАй бұрын
I have this and the FMS 64mm F-15. Hands down this is a prettier and more scale version and yes, lol you have to keep an eye on those elevators when belly landing. New set already installed. Both planes are acrobatic and forgiving but the 64mm has more power to pull you out of a sticky situation. I'd love you to review the FMS/Eflite Eagle as it was my first EDF. That said, the details on this Xfly for such a small park flyer are to be appreciated, especially the tail cones and shape of the fuselage, just a pleasure to see up close.
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
I agree with your findings. All the twin 40's need some energy management more so than some of the more overpowered EDF's...although with the docile stall characteristic you can get this one out of most situations. Except a low altitude high alpha screw up, lol. Of course then...it ain't the planes fault.

One day, hopefully, we will have more twin 40mm and 64mm sized jets that will also feature retractable gear. Power systems are getting better and better so I don’t see why not. These xfly jet look awesome but retractable gear is a must for me.
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
Too much added weight, not enough power on common 4s batteries, and not enough wing area to make up for it. I've flown the one single fan 64mm out there with retracts and flaps, and it has to use weird sized small 6s packs most don't have to make enough power, yet it still isn't any faster than a lighter 4s 64. Also while it does well at speed, it slows down like crap because it is too heavy for the wing area available at that size. Besides that, the whole point of this series and most single fan 64's is simplicity and low price point. For those that want a full house jet, 70mm and above really is the way to go. You have enough wing area at that size to carry the extra weight and still have good slow flight characteristics, and you can make 6s power with larger 6s packs most already have. Totally fair if the removable gear hand launchers aren't for you, but judging by the sales planes like that suit many pilots, and there needs to be stuff for everyone I reckon.

Since it is a twin, I’m sure you could use some Mixing to get some yaw control. That would really get that jet performance where it should to be.
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
You could give each ESC its own channel and do that. The downside would be what happens with any differential thrust set up...when you really need a lot of yaw control you're way down on total power because one motor is at low to no RPM's. Since both thrust tubes are so close to the center line on an F-15, it might need bigger corrections that rob too much power to make a difference, but I'm not sure. I should try it with something...maybe the Felon since the tubes are farther apart.
@danflom1271Ай бұрын
I have one on the way. I plan on replacing the gear with wire skids and adding a clear plastic rudder to the nose skid. I'm not fond of the livery. I like my Eagles plain grey, like they fight. Depending on how well that camo paint sticks to the foam I would like to redo it as an F-15C from the 390th FS, MHAFB. I have history with that group.

Great flying and great review Sir. Just ordered the F-18 twin 40 myself, but sure enough Im being tempted by this one 😁. Could you just give us a quick "comparo", the F-18 on the specs ought to be lighter, but this F-15 looks like it flies lighter? better lift with its aifoil lifting body?
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
Thanks man. Yep, your guess is correct. The F-15 does fly lighter and the wing and body may be why. The other thing is you can get more elevator deflection with the F-15. They both fly great, heck all the twin 40's do.
@kianwong5110Ай бұрын
Great Adam .These twin edf’s from x fly are great value . I was waiting for this review - as I was thinking of getting this or the f-22. Looks like the f-22 flies slower and very tolerant and a bit more forgiving compared to f-15 ? I’m torn between these 2 as entry Edf’s before I plunge into the eflite viper 64mm
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
I'll be honest man, the two are both pretty easy to fly and forgiving. Both can fly pretty slow but yes the F-22 will fly slower without getting too cute and approaching high alpha...which can get you into trouble with either one if you're low and it goes south. The F-15 may have a tiny bit more punch as far as speed. All that said, the Viper 64 is an excellent first EDF as well...with a working rudder, and it is a little bigger with lights, so its easier to see. Flies slow well too. I do get that the price point of the twin 40's is less intimidating for a new EDF pilot though. All great choices for different reasons.
@kianwong5110Ай бұрын
@ thanks Adam for your time in replying . I can see quite,rightly, that you seem to be smitten by the viper . Size is a concern for me as I have a small flat. That’s why I was thinking about the twin 40mm . The 64mm viper has a lot bigger wingspan . But I love it ! Plus all the gyro settings are sorted on the viper Great channel and filmed well . Keep it up bro ..k
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
You've got me there. I am hugely impressed with that Viper. That said I'm also impressed with all the twin 40's in the XFly series so far...they are all good. The F-22 or F-15 would fit your mission perfectly.

I am debating between this and the xfly 64 t7-a. They use same battery and for me climb out power and high alpha ability is key for me challenging flying field. Which would you suggest?
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
@RichardTardif1984 If high Alpha ability is what you want, neither one. You need a working rudder. Viper 64. Uses the same 2200 4s, high alpha is actually controlable, and easily more vertical than any other 64 we've flown. Of the two you mentioned the t7 has more vertical, but the F-15 is more manageable slow.
@RichardTardif1984Ай бұрын
@@ModelAV8RChannel Thanks for the input. I would have done dual rudder either way and likely a stabilizer and aft CG. Eflite is hard to get where i am but xfly is easier and significantly cheaper even factoring in a stabilizer and rx. was kinda curious power wise 2x40mm vs 64mm.
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
I think the 64's have more power...especially if you're going to add servos for rudder. If FMS is an option there, their 64mm F-16 has rudder already and is very good in high alpha. All F-16's are.

Gotta disagree with ya about the efficiancy of twin engine edf,s VS single engine edf,s Twins are extreme battery eaters my buddy that has the larger arrows f-15 has his batteries completely spent by the 3 minute mark and the batteries are so hot you can barely handle them when taking out of the plane
@ModelAV8RChannel4 күн бұрын
I hear what you're puttin' down, but a couple of things, first what we were talking about is how efficient the air intake and exit is with twins where each fan has its own intake and thrust tube rather than a single fan with a big split into two tubes in the way. The other thing is that all twins are not created equal. Many factors determine how efficient they are on a battery..including what kind of batteries are used. That twin 64mm F-15 you're talking about is very inefficient, and heavy for what it is. These twin 40's are the same size as single 64mm...and usually lighter, and we get one of two results when we compare those - the same flight times out of either one on the same 2200 4s pack, or the twin 40's are a little bit better by 30 seconds or so. Batteries are not hot coming out of either if you use throttle management. My twin 50mm A-10 on the other hand...3 minutes...not a second more, and the battery feels like a hand warmer...a really good hand warmer, lol. It eats them like you're talking about.
