Great video came across it after my dropper seat post became stiff and stuck. I also had the problem undoing the top as the shaft kept on spinning. Ended cleaning and greasing the inner cylinder from the bottom after removing the cover. This partial service surprisingly had a great result keeping my dropper seat post smooth for another 12 months until the first wet ride at the begging of this winter. So now done it for the second time. No problems at all. Save me time and money using simple tools no need for any replacement parts.

Thank you for the video. I recently bought a new dropper and chose a Manic once again because I can service it completely myself.

In my case, when torquing the last bolt at 10m15s in the video, the nut would engage and move down the threads but once the nylon thread lock engaged the threads, the cartridge started spinning and I could not seat the nut. The center of the threaded shaft has a receiver for an hex key. I had to pass one through the socket hole to hold the shaft in place then turn the socket by holding it from the outside with a vice grip. I wrapped the socket with tape so as to not damage it. It would have benefited from anti rotation feature from the inside. I'm also questioning the seal design and it requires a strap wrench to torque and un-torque. The OneUp has little serrations that allows untorquing by hand. I had to drive to a bike shop to borrow their strap wrench. The major selling point of the Manic and OneUp droppers is that they use a cartridge and can be maintained at home. But this implies the use of standard tool. I would not qualify a strap wrench as a standard tool that every biker has it its shed. The one from the kitchen for the jars and the one for the car oil filter did not work in my case. Great video. Very helpful. Thanks for posting.

My dropper won't extend without help, so I found this video. After watching the video, I discovered that I have a Gen 1 post, so I sent customer service an email. Their reply was to watch this video. Then they had a follow up saying to remove the activator and the outer tube would slide off. Nope, the seat clamp is in the way. Not sure how they designed a dropper post that couldn't be disassembled for cleaning and service, now I'm researching different dropper posts that are less disposable.

What to do if any of my tool is not able to unthread the seal head. Even if I do this with big lever. I hope it has the right-hand thread... I'm now doing it with the Plumber wrench with no luck...
@XFusionShox19993 жыл бұрын
Try a little heat with a heat gun. The anodizing from the seal head can bind with the anodizing on the lower tube and be very tight. Sometimes, applying a little heat will help to soften the bite and allow the seal head to spin free. When trying to spin the seal head free, you want to use a swift, firm motion; do not slowly try to tun. You want an instant type of force application similar to an impact wrench.
@Dom61613 жыл бұрын
Did you get it done? Same here bottom threat was ok , seals ... not a chance.
@venz51793 жыл бұрын
@@Dom6161 yes. I had to damage outer decals (sorry don't know how to describe it in english) in order to have a strong grip even with an old tube with the Plumber wrench. Prior to assembling back I applied grease the same way as it is usually done for bottom brackets or pedals. From my point of view it should have been tightened that much so I could unthread it with rubber gloves and a strong grip of my palm.
@ricnovillo2 жыл бұрын
The same thing happens to me, it has even scratched and scratched a little because of the force I have applied and the thread does not yield.

Literally can't remove the nut at the top of the dropper post. I put pressure on the head just as he shows and It won't come out. Am I doing something wrong or has someone else had this issue? Also, I removed the activator assembly with the spanner wrench and my cartridge is backwards compared to the video. I can't pull it out because of the first issue but it seemed odd.
@insearchof_dirt2 жыл бұрын
Did you figure it out? Having the same issue. I can unthread the bottom but the 10mm at the top just spins. Also, can't get the middle collar undone. Thinking of trying a heat gun.
@matthewormiston47532 жыл бұрын
@@insearchof_dirt I got the middle collar undone but with waaaaay too much effort. I used the bike clamp and gave it a couple hard and fast tugs with the tube wrench and it eventually broke free. I messaged them about the nut and they said bring it to a local repair shop, which I don't have. I found a video that the engineer who messaged me made though. He applied pressure to the top of the head when the post was fully depressed and was able to remove the nut. I tried doing this, even with two clamps applying pressure along the post and still apparently wasn't enough. Look up "titic huang dropper post" and you should find the video. Sometimes it can simply be that your frame seat. Ollaris tightened up too much. Use a torque wrench, or by hand you'll want to tighten up a bit at a time until you find the problem tension point.
@robertgraham3559 Жыл бұрын
DO NOT tighten down that top nut past contact. If it doesn't want to come back off, you will have to shave it down with a Dremel tool next time you service the post. And then you need a new cartridge, as one must also shave down the nub it threads onto.

I have the gen one seat post and it absolutely the biggest piece of trash I have ever worked on. If it fails while riding you better hope you have a tool box on you, the fact you have to replace so many components is absurd,to simply service is mind boggling. Worst engineering design I’ve worked on when it comes to seat posts. Oh, and finding a kit to upgrade is rather difficult, throw it away and get a diff brand or different generation.
