Hey Li, thanks for this unboxing and review. You've got a similar computer build as me, and I've been contemplating what makes more sense, immediate upgrades or a completely new computer build. My current PC specs are Ryzen 3900X Asus Tuf X570 2 NVMe drives (1TB Pcie Gen 4 & 2 TB Pcie Gen 3) 32GB 3200MHz ram Asus Strix Radeon R9 390 8GB video card EVGA 750 Watt PSU Fractal Design Case. So as I said was in a real dilemma on if to just jump onto the new Ryzen AM5 bandwagon, then saw all the issues with exploding motherboards etc, then said, I should just upgrade my processor, memory, drives and video card.
@TheGizmoGarage Жыл бұрын

This is an awesome card no doubt, but know that you are going to have to replace whatever thermal crap it is they are using with some MX4 or better if you want the GPU Temp/Hot spot Delta to be much smaller. My hotspot temp was hitting 111c which was crazy! Now it doesn't go above 80c. I don't know whether it's the vapor chamber cooler that refuses to make perfect contact or what, but one thing I know for sure is the factory thermal compound on them sucks. The card itself is an amazing piece and I love it. It plays anything you can throw at it with plenty of headroom to spare. If you are using the default fan speed it will go as high as 70F before fan kicks in which I don't like since higher temps dry out heatsink paste faster. Depending on the quality setting, more complex and newer games will make this card run loud because it does generate a lot of heat. If using lower resolutions and limit fps, for example, in overwatch, I run it in medium quality setting in 4k with a fps limit of 150fps, the card runs consistently at 45-50C and only occationally kick the fan speed up. Yes it does support custom fan curve, but when passing certain fan speed, it will just suddently get really loud, so I'd say fine tuning fan speed is hard on this card.

7900xt is the same raw performance as a 3090ti just to let anyone know
@TheGizmoGarage Жыл бұрын
You are correct sir, no need to upgrade if having 3090ti, maybe small upgrade to 7900xtx

I have this card and the sapphire 7900xtx. Trust me even with the smaller 7900xt you absolutely need these brackets. These cards are dumb lol

Believe or not, my 1080 ti lived in this case for over 6 years and not a single complain... I did open up additional vents for airflow, so far it's working fine with temp below 57C
