Nah, he was only a maniac 4:23 who'd do anything to achieve his own goals and he'd do anything for survival and part of that it was being with Lori. Only because he was right about what happened to Carol's daughter and he insisted about it through the season, people treats him as "the one who was right", his character had to take that role, doing that aligned with his own interests, too. @stevienightheat1 Strand I can understand, but Madison was literally useless in Season 2. She's the whole reason the hotel failed and many people were killed. She got better season 3, but got outshined in my opinion by Nick, especially for not having the guts to kill Jeremiah. The only badass thing she did was end Troy, which ultimately was a dumb decision. Nick never really trusted her much after that. Travis was a slow build-up. He was a good man, who fought for what he thought was right. The pit scene in season 3 was amazing. Shows how badass he was. Madison could barely kill anyone. Travis had to end his ex wife, the soldier, the two killers of his son, and then over twenty zombies with his bare hands. I think even Alyssa was more badass than Madison, especially since she saved Travis. The only badass thing in season 2 I think she did was led the walkers on the deck, which wasn't that hard to do. Overall, I just don't think she was the most badass in the show. Travis and Strand definitely surpass her in that.

@HeyImLate she had the guts to kill Jeremiah. She was literally about to do it but wanted to give him the opportunity to kill himself first, and then Nick did it before she could. There were multiple counts of badass moments for Madison in season 2, and she even had a couple in season 1. In fact, in comparison to Rick's first few seasons, she was vastly superior in that category. Season 3, though Madison became a total badass and not just a badass. I can name at least 12 different things for her character in season 3 alone. Killing Troy was the right call. I liked Troy, but he was a loose end at that time. I agree with you about Travis being a badass, though. The pit scene put him at the top of the food chain of the entire TWD universe. Then he died, unfortunately. Madison was more of a badass in a human chess kind of way. And then when she beat you down emotionally, she took over and killed you. I agree she made mistakes in the first two seasons but adapted far quicker than Rick did. Ultimately, her lack of morality, in the post apocalypse, is why Shane would've been a far better fit to be with Madison and Strand over the group he ultimately died for.

The thing about Shane is every crazy act he ever made he always had serious remorse on his face afterwards or just before doing it but he knew it had to be done and after making so many tough decisons it really set him apart from everyone. Shane also wanted Rick to kill him at the end thats why he never shot at Rick and asked him to "raise your gun" he wanted to bring out the guy he knew he needed to be. Shane didnt wanna be apart of the group anymore but even tho he loves lori he cares about rick like a brother still and gave the last bit of his life to make Rick start to crack open his potential to survive in the new world.

Shane is the most important character in the show's entire history, Rick is the main character but Shane was a step ahead of the curb He really did want to keep the group safe but they're attempts to still be human interfered with that Back then we used to see shane as crazy but rick got worse than shane even becoming like him in season 5 with alexandria but I think we all could agree Lori didn't make things any easier quite the opposite if anything always putting things in shane and rick's head pitting them against each other, I don't blame the actress not at all it was the writers who decided drama was more important than logic and survival If there's anything we could take from this is to prioritize safety over emotion

Shane wasn’t a villain. He’s exactly the type of man that is needed to survive in the immediate apocalypse. All he wanted was family loyalty and those he loved to be safe. He was willing to do things that are totally reprehensible in our world but in a world overrun with flesh eating freaks he is doing what has to be done. Protecting his tribe at all costs. The show eventually shows that he is right but having Rick become Shane when they reach Alexandria

Killing Otis changed him, and he felt the need to think what he did was necessary and continues to believe so. Lied to others to prevent them seeing him as a monster. Those that calls him a monster are ironically right despite not knowing the real reason. Shane know this himself, just refused to think that way and tried to excused himself out of it.

@@merimkastrat5846 well in that case wouldn't Rick be a monster as well and Shane did feel bad about what he did but he also realized he was able to make hard calls. Him looking in the mirror was awesome. Look at his face at first he's shocked then accepts the fact he's able to do the hard things. I don't think he's a monster but I think he was driven by rage near the end. But he did almost come back but Lori said the baby might be his and that she did love him which fucked him up. Either way u wanna see it Shane was 100% right survival wise and was one of if not the most important character on the show besides Rick

@@trizard3940 Rick knew he was a monster in later seasons, all he can think of was to keep everyone alive. Unlike Shane, he didnt kill his own group just to selfishly survive. Shane did, and he realize that mistake and was desperate to make excuses of his own actions, believing what he did was the right think to do. And the fact he got overly jealous of Rick with Lori made him even more insane. Also yes, in terms of survival he made the right call. Problem was he evolved too quickly, and he intends to harm others if means for his plans to be in motion. He also almost attempting to kill Rick, which he had no reason to do that. Dale saw it.

@@merimkastrat5846 true. But I didn't consider Otis a part of the group. Rick and Shane just arrived and Hershels family were still a complete separate group they had not made an alliance yet. So Shane did kill Otis but he didn't do it out pure selfishness considering he offered to be left behind and let Otis live. But him being involved with Lori has no excuse and that was his biggest problem.

Honestly Shane was one of my favourite characters, he was a true survivor, yeah he did some pretty bad things but in this world good and bad don’t matter, however the only crucial thing thing you need to truly survive is also your humanity, which unfortunately for Shane, he had none left and he let his jealousy and anger towards Rick get him killed, like he just pushed and pushed Rick to be the leader he wanted. I wish Shane could’ve come to his senses in the end and saw what Rick became after his death and before Negan, the leader he wanted him to become. Shane and Rick would’ve been a truly unstoppable and invincible duo
