I sadly was a slave to the hype - videos as this. I bought this stuff and put it in my tires. Long story short: it did not help me at all. The punctures that I had were all small, so the slime should have taken care of them - well, it didn't. What it did though, was to make the tire change super messy. I bought a better - more thicker - inner tube, and it solved my problem. Now I can drive on any surface without thinking about a puncture. Of course it can happen, but so far so good. There used to be a puncture every month or so driving on gravel and such, now 5 months strong without any holes. Call it luck if you want, I call it better inner tubes. I still have some slime left, I think I will throw it away. It is snake oil to me.

Most videos tell to add 4oz or more and don't mention to immediately go for a ride afterwards to evenly distribute the Slime. What do you think about using tire liners as an alternative option?
@yeer316 жыл бұрын
Liners would be the way to go if you can find them for the 8” wheels. I couldn’t and ended up using the same sealant product as Doug. However, in my case, it didn’t work and I ended up with subsequent slow punctures. I’m certain it’s the poor quality inner tubes that came with the scooter as the punctures, were more as a result of abrasion rather than from sharp objects penetrating the inner tube. I ended up giving in and getting a solid front tyre. Then I sold the Xiaomi as, without pneumatic tyre, the ride is so harsh it aggravated my knee injuries.
@DougHnut6 жыл бұрын
I usually coat my tube with talcum power or baby powder to avoid abrasion. and i agree with you, the solid tyres are not good, maybe the hollow ones are but im not willing to try at this moment

My Xiaomi is the US version and a couple of weeks ago I rode through some thorns (got some on both front & back). Luckily I only had one puncture on the rear. The quality of the inner tube in the rear looked decent. They probably don't make any 8" liners but I'm sure that you can just cut them down to size and then use some electrical tape to keep them together. I read somewhere that someone used liners made by Mr Tuffy. Slime seems like it could easily throw off the tires balance plus by putting way too much in might reduce the motors power due to the extra weight.
@yeer316 жыл бұрын
Hi Doug, first of all, keep up the good work, your channel was a real source of info on Xiaomi scooter issues and mods when I still had my scoot. Before I sold my scooter, I had changed it to the solid tyre with the holes in it, thinking that it would be more pliant. Unfortunately, it isn't. They're a pain to put on (I paid for mine to be done) and just as much to remove. Which is the reason why I sold mine. Might get another one later but if I do, I'll be looking to get better inner tubes and maybe even one of the 'puncture proof' tyres. Typically they're sold as CST or Rhino tyres on the chinese ecommerce sites. Have not seen many reviews of these but they look promising.
