I used to buy from gearbest but AliExpress is much cheaper option. MI 8 64Gb for 480$ and MI 8 SE for 320$ + 20$ If DHL delivery with duty free is choosen. Even Honorbuy is cheaper and offers delivery from EU stock. It's off topic but might be useful for someone.

Both a good screens (And I did say this it the Mi Mix 2S is still a great screen for an FHD+ IPS. But whites and colours are better on the Mi 8 but it is close at times!

Amoled panel might be better then a IPS one in some cases but it is definitely not as good at high brightness. The more saturated colors are not BETTER per definition and certainly not more accurate. The most multimedia content on the WEB have SRGB color space on the other hand AMOLED panels have much wider color space/gamut therefore inaccurate color reproduction. I don't mind Xiaomi uses AMOLED panels in new phones as pricing is still pretty low.

Its funny that you say mi mix2s camera is better due to software updates and mi8 should end up the same, but Xiaomi have been telling people in China that mix2s would receive updates to make it as good as the mi8 camera.

Thanks Chris just what I was waiting for. I want to change my brilliant Mi5 this year. I think it's going to be the Mix 2s, I like the look and the slightly smaller size. I also got a new car this year that as a wireless charging dock so silly not to make use of that

Oh definatly make use of the wireless charging. I forgot what I used but I think it's only 7.5W max. So not the fastest but still very handy. No idea why the Mi 8 doesn't have it, seems crazy to drop the front facing loudspeaker and the Qi wireless charging.

I like more MI Mix 2S design too but MI 8 wins in many categories. I have MI Mix 2 but I ordered MI 8 SE as to my opinion it is the best looking android phone so far. I'm really wondering why MI 8 SE didn't get much attention from the KZbinrs yet, great specs, perfect size for me and fantastic look for low price is a steal.

Compared to my old Galaxy S8 but also my more recent P20 the Mi Mix 2s has HORRIBLE microphone recording quality in the video samples. Especially when there is traffic, sounds like someone slapping a soda can with a chopstick while under water.

I really don't know why people hate the notch so much it doesn't look pretty if the it cuts in your video but that is I guess an apple thing and probably not for Android. i like that you have an are solely for the status bar so the statusbar never really takes away space on your screen so the mi mix 8 should be great for split screen

That just goes to show Xiaomi phones are complete shit, I have my HTC E8 for 2 and a half years, absolutely no problem. In fact this is the first time I've ever heard of screen burn-in on IPS LCD display...on OLED screens I've seen this issue A LOT of times, especially on the Galaxy series.

Mi 8, for me, would be a ''flagship killer'' if: 1)It didn't have the notch and instead put some smalls bezels both above and below the screen with maybe stereo speakers 2)Had a better camera software (RAW support,4k@60fps, camera2api enabled etc) 3)Had a bigger battery even if it means that the phone would be thicker 4) Maybe put a all time classic audio jack?

Roderick Alexander CFP I prefer IPS panels as they are sharper than AMOLED panels at the same resolution and have more accurate colors. AMOLED panels have deeper black but pron to color banding. Greatest advantage of AMOLED panels are that they are flexible and give possibility to make bezeless displays to my understanding.

Matej Milovanovic I meant for the WEB content as it has SRGB color profile. I'm not sure if AMOLED panels can be correctly calibrated for SRGB color gamut. The same problem is with professionals wide gamut monitors. Panels with wider color range/gamut are definitely better for professional use and for reproduction of high saturated, flourecent colors. When I say accurate colors I mean boring, less vibrant and less saturated and most people would not like it :-) In the end, I think, we like the things that are praised by famous ones, don't we.

hate that notch. Go for the Mi Mix everytime. Can only afford the Mi Max 1 tho' but super happy with it and it has a bigger battery. Just can be a bit slow loading new screens sometimes

Not convinced about buying a flasgship from Xiaomi, in the UK currently you can buy new Samsung s8's or s8+ for £400 which is about the same as these two phones. And the samsungs don't have notches, cameras at the top and 3.5mm headphone jacks. As well as wireless charging which the mi8 doesn't have, and ip68 water resistance. Think Xiaomi are still best in the budget range, mostly for the Redmi Note 5 at £125. Anything above that and I think Xiaomi value falls off a bit. I dunno probably still going to get the mi8 as I like miui but still, tougher decisions at this price range.
