The Synchronization Tutorial which should be done in 2 weeks will further explain why this feels so different. For the most optimal mouse movements with minimal lag you can for example use Sync Off and 500hz. It will have way less mouse stutter than Sync Off with 1000hz but will feel just as responsive. Thinking back it still amazes me that settings like these never became mainstream or widely accepted/known.

It's not really "secret knowledge" to us alpha testers (I'm antithesis). It's just that we didn't have Sync during testing (it was added a few months after launch), so Response Rate was more important during the early days of APEX as it directly affected Sensitivity. I used 250Hz instead of 500 or 1000Hz for a few reasons - 1. The native USB polling rate of PS4 and Xbox One is 250Hz (same for PS5 & Series X). It made sense to use the same Response Rate on XIM APEX to "sync" with the console. 2. I could feel a big difference between 125Hz on XIM 4 and 250Hz on XIM APEX, but not much difference between 250Hz and 500 or 1000Hz on APEX. 3. TItan Two during its alpha testing didn't support XIM APEX at 500 or 1000Hz, so I was forced to use 250Hz at max when combining both devices. A lot of XIM users make the mistake of trying to get APEX to behave like PC mouse & keyboard, when they should be making APEX behave more like a controller. That's what the console expects and games are optimised for controller input. We found out pretty quickly that higher Response Rates of 500 & 1000Hz didn't really offer much precision or response advantage over 250Hz, while also reducing aim assist. But XIM users were obsessed with 1000Hz ("faster" = "better"...right?), so you'll find posts from us advocating 250Hz over the years, but they never gained much traction until recently. That and using Sync Off means one more calculation when adjusting Sensitivity...it's just easier to bang Sync on Default and Response Rate on 500Hz (a good compromise that works well for all games, offers responsive mouse input, minimises jitter and doesn't cause audio issues or frame drops on Xbox) and call it a day. I'll add one more tip to Od1n's video - drop in-game sensitivity a notch or two from the top for more AA. XIM Smart Translators are trained at max in-game sensitivity for the highest possible precision, but there's little to no negative effect of reducing game sensitivity. I do this for every game and it's never hurt my aim :) Finally, ditch the keyboard and get an Azeron or Nav controller - analog movement makes a big difference to AA and it's a tonne easier to configure wheel menus. Simulate Analog Behaviour can help with left-stick rotational AA, but wheel menus are horrible to configure using WASD and a mouse.

This is interesting not only for xim users. If most console games only "understand" up to 250 Hz input, this means all 1000 Hz "pro" controllers are harming your aim assist. I've noticed my aiming feels off in shooter games with my Razer gamepad after switching from the stock XBX controller. Part of it seems to be because of the higher response rate, but sometimes I feel my AA is turned off, even though I have it ON in the game settings. PS. What's the status on the the new xim device?

Is this setup an exception to that rule? I always play with 250Hz, so would changing my sync to default or common still increase AA? Thanks
@XIMCentral2 жыл бұрын
Yes this is an exception since you play on a much lower polling rate. What you said is still true but refers to when you run 500hz or even 1000hz. Hey, for the 500hz configs i usually only pick that profile because i know very well that most people have never done a mouse polling rate benchmark and their mice most likely perform bad on 1000hz. These 500hz games usually are sensitivity to mouse stutter so i pick that profile over 1000hz to ensure the user has a great experience even when not having done a benchmark before. If you know your mouse runs great on 1000hz then you can play all my 500hz configs in 1000hz. As for this aim assist trick, i would recommend you to wait for my next tutorial video to come out as that should greatly help you to make up your mind on which setting you want to run with from now on :).

Hey Od1n I hope you are well! So with these settings: Sync off, 250hz response rate, 0 SAB on hip and ADS - Am I correct in thinking this could be like the Apex's version of Xim4 settings? because we know that xim4 was running with the same settings as above apart from 125hz, and everyone seems to agree that xim4 had amazing settings out the box. So if we are looking to replicate that feeling, perhaps even using 250hz could give some kind of advantage as that's what PS4 is running at. I actually never owned the Xim4 but I would love to think I'm on the right track - these settings definitely feels nice up till now.

@Brian-xd8uc3 жыл бұрын
@@XIMCentral Hey thanks for your reply. I just renewed my membership to say thanks - in general you're doing a great job with this channel and the content has been awesome! By the way I have another question - so we know xim4 = sync default/off at 125hz (same thing at 125hz), SAB=0 however if we do sync default at 250hz, SAB=0 , does this also provide the "Apex's version of Xim4 settings"? I am wondering what are the fundamental differences between sync default 250hz and sync off 250hz I did watch your recent video on the syncs, but I still don't understand 100% the effect of the 250 hz when combined with sync default (which is supposed to be related to 120fps)
@XIMCentral3 жыл бұрын
@@Brian-xd8uc Thanks again for the kind words and support, always happy to see familiar faces returning to the membership programm! ;) Sync off means that the XIM sends as many inputs to the console as it can. So it gets limited by the polling rate that you choose. With 125hz it is limited to 1 input per 8 milliseconds. Sync off 250hz would mean 1 input per 4 milliseconds, so twice as much. Now sync default is locked to 120hz which equals 1 input per 8,3 milliseconds. Given that 250hz is 4 milliseconds the inputs are therefore limited by sync default and not the polling rate. You could therefore also use 500hz or 1000hz, the overall output would be the same when using sync default (except for when your mouse produces stutter on 1000hz for example). Now to explain the way a XIM4 works, it runs on 125hz aka 8 milliseconds per input. Sync off means it sends as many inputs to the console as it can, so 1 input every 8 milliseconds. When using sync default you basically get the same inputs per second. Sync default equals 120hz aka. one input per 8,3 milliseconds, which is basically the same as one input every 8 milliseconds. Therefore it doesnt really matter if you use sync off or default when playing on 125hz.

Thanks for the great work mate. In one of your comments you mentioned that if someone is using MJ config we should keep the MJ settings we have been using unchanged and only reduce sense from 500 to 125. I have done that but when sense is reduced to 125 fast mouse movements are way faster then they should be. What I mean by that is that it seems as though there are two mouse speeds, a consistent one when moving the mouse at regular speed and the crazy fast one when I am trying to make a quick flick on quick hip change of directions. Any thoughts bossman?
@XIMCentral3 жыл бұрын
Hey, was your previous MJFame sync on off? Also can you check both your ballistic curves? It kind of sounds like they do not stop at 100% but at like 90 or 95% which would then result in such a behavior. See this short sketch on what i mean. Red is wrong, black is right www.tinyimage.de/im/1/17/5/24/15/30/11_109.jpg

@@XIMCentral Well, some good news. Albeit both curves were set to 100 I cleared them both and set them again which fixed the wired double sense issue. That being said just dropping the MJF sense to 125 wasn't giving me the same sense I had on 500, I know that mathematically it may make sense but it was way to slow as it was. Anyway, I have played with the curve a bit to try and find the right sense but in the end I went back to 500 / 1000. It may be just that I wasn't able to find the copy of my sense on 250 but everything from tracking, going in and out of bubble, snapping or hip fire, felt so much better for me on 500 / 1000. This is not a criticism of your video, it may just be that I am so use to the setup I am using that everything else feels off to me. Keep up the great work mate!

@@dumaarmylukasz5408 Nothing wrong with prefering that, its usually best to not go overboard with the aim assist which is something that 250hz + MJFame would do! :) You want to have a good balance between nice mouse movements and aim assist, thats usually the best.
