I just took on an ancient city in my single player world this weekend, and if you make your goal to eliminate all the shriekers then it gets a little more intense. The entire experience is like defusing a bomb, especially if you've already set off 3 shriekers. I removed all the shriekers and only set off the Warden twice, and am now gonna move in

It's especially a gut-wrenching moment when you think you take them out and are now running wildly across the place, then you accidentally set off a shrieker you weren't aware of. Then again it isn't as tense because as long as you have cleared out an area, as soon as the Warden emerges you can immediately start running to that area without angering him. When he burrows up he can't sense vibrations, therefore the entire Ancient City looting spree just becomes a game of "oops I accidentally summoned the Warden, time to run now to not anger him." I feel like the Warden should be able to detect this if you immediately start running, it isn't as tense if the player can easily bail without penalty.

1:42 They say the minimum light level for hostile mob spawning is a flat 0, but actually, hostile mobs can still spawn at sky light levels 7 and under where there is no block light. The underside of some of the forest has sky light levels less than 7 in some places; therefore, hostile mobs can spawn at these places at all times, at least until there's some block light.

Tip: if there is only one shrieker in an area you can break it, it might set off a few sensors but it only matters if there are other shriekers nearby. When there are more you can do the wool spam (in earlygame you can mine the wool from the walkways), surround a shrieker and then you can easily break it. If you set a few of them off and you know that a warden will spawn (as theres nothing more to lose) break the shrieker you activated as fast as possible, then turn around and run until the warden finished spawning, then continue backing off while shifting, and wait a safe distance away from there until he despawns. I looted a city with basic equipment on my survival and spawned like 12 wardens but if you play it smart its just a bit of time loss I hope i could help!

The reason for other mobs not spawning is that they are constantly going to activate skulk shrieker and skulk catalyst. With multiple mobs spawning, there is a chance that the constant fight between warden and other hostile mobs will distract warden too much and after a time, warden may die... What is worse that Wardens can be spawned as many as you want thus there would be warden on nearly every step... Xisuma... I think you never actually think anything through when it comes to deepdark and warden.
@heckoff79042 жыл бұрын
the mobs cant trigger the shrieker, though, can they? only player actions do.

In the Deep Dark, you don't have to sneak on carpets to avoid making noise. Also, if you are sneaking and you jump down while still holding crouch, you don't make a sound when you land. You can also jump while holding sneak and not make noise. I also recommend just breaking the chest and getting out of that area. If you trigger the Warden, you just have to run across your wool a couple of chunks and he won't be able to sniff you out. You can then wait the 1 minute for him to despawn and go back where you were. It does slow things down a bit, but I've found it cuts down on the need for an overabundance of wool. In just one plus a couple chests into a second Ancient City, I was able to collect one of everything that you could (2 enchanted golden apples, two full music discs plus extra fragments and just enough echo shards to make one compass. Maybe random was in my favor, but it was nice not to have to spend too much time down there.

For the nether tunnel: LIGHT is necessary for ambience. I think hanging soul lenterns with chains, some vegetation (like crimson roots and weeping vines or warped roots and twisting vines), maybe you can also use the glass fog trick on the walls so that it looks like the darkness (walls) is creeping in. Also maybe some campfire smoke or other particle effect.

some campfire smoke coming from around the bones in the nether portal could create some cool visual and auditory ambiance. name-tagging some witches to have hidden in the walls could also add to the menacing + magical quality it could also be cool to add some of the sculk blocks as they have a subtle animation that would look really cool in the pitch black; maybe on the roof of the nether portal path? or underneath the glass path?

I’ve been to two ancient city’s on bedrock, and I always play on hard. And both times I had a ton of mobs spawning / finding their way into the city. And both times I just ran through and broke anything that could have triggered the warden. I died once, and well obviously spawned the warden in, and jeez. I learned my lesson after it tracked me, it wouldn’t go away even after killing me. And just kept his agro at me, after around 3-5 minutes he finally gave up. But the mobs can help distract the warden for the player, buttt at the same time. Keeps the warden around for a lot longer then intended, and makes the risk of spawning another a bigger threat than just then just one.

With Litematica, the trick is to render only 1 layer at a time, starting from the bottom. In the material list window, use only the rendered layer and enable the HUD. Hey X! I just recently took on the ancient city in my survival world. A couple tips, you can surround the shriekers with wool instead of the sensors. I'll share my strategy here for the one interested: I looted two ancient city without taking damage and even killed two warden for fun. Ancient cities are really easy with elytras, you just don't care about the noise you make. 1. Target all the shriekers you see, when a warden spawn you just zoom away in another part of the city. 2. When there is near zero shrieker left, do the same with the loot chests and you're done. The warden take too long to be angry enough to be a problem and you have all the time you need to break the shrieker, open a chest and take off while it spawns next to you. I would advise you to try to explore at least one on foot to not ruin your fun (if you do, watch simplysarc video as it has a lot of great advice to get rid of shriekers and sensor quietly).

I took on an ancient city and didn't use any night vision or nearly as much wool as you did. If I accidentally spawned a warden, I flew away until it despawned, but the skulk sensors will notice you flying and might trigger a skulk shrieker. If you do spawn a warden, you might be able to get the shriker that spawned it, turn to face the portal, and fly there. The portal is incredibly safe from the warden.

Hey X! Did you know that Litematica has a feature called easyPlace? You have to set a hotkey for toggling it in the Litematica Settings. It allows you to hold rightclick on the schematic blocks and it will automatically switch to the block type and place it for you! Makes building with schematics a breeze.

I feel like some elements from Scar's tunnel in Grian's base could add in your nether tunnel, like flying candles.

I think it's something that is either lighten up or red that's missing. So maybe red candles here and there? Floating ones would be great just as @Blue Blizzer mentioned

I feel like doing a fog thing with glass on the sides of the tunnel could work. You could make it look like the bones are rising from that fog. And the throughout the tunnel add some candles, both floating and sitting on the bones.

Idea: because of how the new items and blocks spread from dead mobs, they should add a tainted enemy that lurks around the deep dark. Could have various models for tainted enemies to reflect a tainted zombie, creeper etc. They could have low health to show that they are barely being held together and maybe to incentives you to stay away from them, they could give off a hunger ora or something rather than dealing a large amount of damage. This way you add a bit more activity to the deep dark but aren't making it too hard Incase a warden spawns
