Honestly, I think schematic and improvised building are two different ways of building, each with its own advantages, sort of like improvisation and reading sheet music. Schematic building can compose large complex builds with insane amounts of materials as well as organize the building process. Improvised building shows one's talent to think creatively and spontaneously, with the result being a very natural, in-depth build that fits with the landscape. For me, I have a hard time memorizing and limited CPU capabilities, so Litematica helps keep me from going between Minecraft worlds and reading what I built in creative just so that I can translate a build to the survival server I play on. I do see why some people don't like Litematica, but I think it just comes down to the personal goals of the player.

About litematica i think it really depends on what you are building, a giant anatomically correct skeleton is a valid use for it as it is really easy to make a mistake and human skeleton turns to a Quasimodo skeleton, also for farms like tree farms that one mistake can make you have to rebuild it entirely i see it reasonable to use, but for a small scale build like a shop i do think it's a bit overkill

I know this videos from a bit ago, but one idea that always sticks in my mind for mining deepslate out of a big area you might want to build in, is a streamer I watch earlier this year used moss and bonemeal in chunks at a time then hoeing away the moss as an insta-break. It was grindy, since he was mining down a huge huge area of previously bedrock turned to deepslate, but it was a lot better than pickaxe mining it and a lot safer than blowing it up, as it was in hardcore. This stream is Philza, I watched wayy too many hours of deepslate-moss mining haha. (It was fairly quick! It only took a while as it was live streams and we all get off track and unfocused on the stream rather than the grind of the game) (On paying attention while scrolling the comments I realize other people also mentioned this method much earlier!)

For the most part, I like to build in survival. However, it's a lot easier to brainstorm in creative. So I tend to use Litematica either for builds that may need a bit more time to figure out just right or for builds that I'm going to copy/paste in different places or configurations. What I do like about talking about it is that it makes it easier to show Litematica as part of the creative process on camera. This means that I can take time outside of survival and explain how I'm setting up my next build.

i dont see litematica being a problem as long as the hermits are ok with it. the build design must come from somewhere, its not like its coming out of thin air, and i assume in most cases its done by the hermits in a creative world. also you still have to grind the blocks and place them. the only thing that litematica helps with is reducing the chance for errors to happen, and im ok with that.

I think there's definitely a time and place for something like litematica, especially with big, complex and precise builds or complicated redstone machines. I see it as essentially the same as using one of those websites that tells you exactly what you need and how to make the map art you want - mess of staircasing included. Or as having prebuilt the thing in creative and just cutting out the mind numbing part where you have to manually count every block to make sure nothing goes wonky. Gods know how many circles I've made turned to spirals because of a one block mistake when I did everything manually (don't do the math for a 500 block diameter circle in your head, it's not a good time). The key point with all that stuff is that they should be a tool to help creativity, and not something to religiously depend on. This skeleton base is a perfect example - without litematica it would be a nightmare to figure out where and how to put the bones, to the point I know I wouldn't even want to TRY. But at the same time, the only part that actually feels like it NEEDS that help is the bare bones (ha) and once they're in place, there's still all the possible ways to decorate the skeleton, inside and out, to potentially freestyle.

Also Gnembon talked about this, but slime ai is extremely simple, because they do not pathfind. They pick a random direction and jump there. But at the same time I feel like my way of having fun should NOT define a hard rule for others. Some purists like to free-hand everything, others love to recreate things exactly. Xisuma, hello!!! I enjoyed viewing the video today. It combines some really great stuff: human anatomy, technology, architecture, communications, game play. That's a winning combination in support of everyone learning. Thank you for your long hours of making excellent viewing material that is so fun to watch.

Could put some water buffers for safety for the flying into the skull and people using riptide to get around will find it helpful... As far as the client side apps its just part of the wizardry of being a hermit and i see it as the way your hermit sees the world when putting a build in his head into the world... I like it and thanks for sharing a resource to the community.

Litematica seems more useful for builds that people test in creative instead of having to take screenshots and going back and forth between saves. Large red stone contraptions is something I struggle with since I would test it out in creative first before replicating it in my actual world so it would definitely help saving time and frustration.

Litematica is the best. It has an easy placement option which allows you to avoid using dirt blocks as temporary blocks, but that is up preference if you would want to use that

With all the mods you use, even if you use Sodium, I recommend Entity Culling mod (for helping with lag in certain situations)

I think using this mod for very complicated builds like "anatomically correct skull" is good thing. I wouldn't use it for something that doesn't require complicated shapes like castles. But honestly considering how much work you need to do before you build something with this mod I dont see the problem in using it.

I wonder if white carpets on top of powder snow would help make the elytra flight down less dangerous while also blending into the build.

Yes X, thats a good idea with the cobbaled deepslade shop, just like grain did in HC9. These blocks are releay cool to build with, in particular for black - - > gray - - > wihte color palettes with the tuff block, stone and gravel. Just lock what iskall did in his cave base in this season, it looks amayzing

I love the base my head cannon is this is one of the giant remains from XBs base

...I know I already wrote a long comment on something else but... 8h of digging? That's... that's scary. Especially considering that if you don't need the deepslate for something you would have just... moss-hoed the pit.

You could open the mouth to fly into. Bigger target to aim for and maybe I little easier to fly out of

Thanks for showing us how and why some of the hermits choose to use Litematica, I have always been curious. Very cool. For anyone doing full time content creation involving the quality and scale of builds you guys choose to do, I believe this would be absolutely necessary lest you burn out and create more trouble than necessary for yourselves. I am going to start streaming after exams and then maybe Griftology gaming can join season 11? 😅✊🏼

If hermits collaborated at the beginning of a season and built 1 super farm of each farm they needed (as they needed it)... Would that ruin the server by taking away from individual creativity? OR Would it give the hermits a huge increase of resources/time to focus on creativity, base building, landscaping and essentially, world building... IMO, the latter could also increase collaboration, organic pranks / jokes and the quality of mega builds on the server. Decreasing burn out and the need for roleplay.

I think it's the whose farm do we choose Tango makes original designs that are more for fun than efficiency cubfan mumbo and doc have different ways of approaching farms

x... i wish i couldve told you before that big dig that you could use moss and bonemeal to make that a lot less painful plus the whole thing is self-sufficient if you use an auto-composter
@pineapple83752 жыл бұрын
but yeah you could sell and/or use the deepslate

If Xisuma made the skull a few months earlier he could have put giant googly eyes on it as an April Fools prank. Also you could add some water to the ribcage elytra entrance to cushion the landing just in case if you fly too fast.

i hope x adds the arms and hands, he could set them up like the desert colossus from zelda oot and have the hands holding viewing or landing platforms

Xisuma should put skeletal arms on the side of the mountain, maybe holding something cool.

The fact that the skull doesn't have lava coming out of it's eyes is a missed opportunity.
