You know, watching this again I realized something: Even in her human form Kerrigan has psi powers shown to be strong enough to lift a marine. When that bridge collapsed she could have just lifted Raynor across and none of this would have happened. Huh.

Probably the actual distance is too far, the scale of things in gameplay and the scale in the actual universe is way off, like the battlecruiser for expample, those things are huge and house like thousands of people but in the gameplay it's not much bigger than a marine.

I don't think she has a lot of control at that point. Every time we see her use her powers up to then is in a destructive manner. The Drone she constructs in the lab cutscene is crushed at the end, her powers are harmful to the enemies in the mission and on the Hyperion she crashes the Marines against the walls. Kerrigan doesn't remember being the Queen of Blades. That means from her perspective, she was just abandoned by Mengsk and in the process of being zergified and then she wakes up with overwhelming psionic powers waiting to explode out of her, the remnant of the Queen of Blades tearing at her mind and the only thing keeping her sane being Jim. Next thing she knows she is attacked by Dominion, looses control and they're all lying dead around her. Kerrigan is *extremely* unstable at that point.

When Zagara is talking with Kerrigan, she discusses how the Dominion has destroyed their platform and controls the skies. This is dependent on past choices in Wings of Liberty. If Jim went with Tychus’s suggestion, Zagara will bring up how the Terrans have flooded their tunnels with Lava. This is not the only kind of event that changes with past choices as I understand it.

I will admit, the gameplay was relatively unique. Command structure is diminished to the point where you could just order around the Zerg to move and attack, though hotkeys aren't removed, good lord, and the game brings light to boss fights like in the action-adventure games. Damn shame the final boss is a fortress gate.

I bloody still cannot believe they made such a asspull with the whole Kerrigan Redemption arc. Now it's hinted that she was simply brainwashed and puppeteered by Amon, although she was hinted to have the Queen of Blades personality as a evil split personality as in the final mission in Wings of Liberty if you play on harder difficulties. Also the whole DBZ levels of power...I wanted a Kerrigan with a sexy Ghost suit and sniper rifle. The whole reinfestation into the Primal Queen of Blades would've been done better if they didn't recycle her old model and add purple stuff.

Janus Caine Actually Kerrigan did stuff with the Queens and other crazy shit. At least the Zerg is still a bunch of Darwinian douches deep down inside. Also now I've heard that a lot of the things in HoTS, from the main story to the Evolution Missions, were supposed to be much longer than originally and thus better fleshed out. And then Blizzard listened to a bunch of douches who complained that the game is too long (which baffles me since how can one complain that a game is too long). At least heard that LoTV will be much longer than HoTS.

I forgot how much I enjoyed the story in HotS. I believe it's some of the strongest storytelling in StarCraft 2 and Kerrigan goes through such a tumultuous personal journey as she tries to find herself after waking up from the 4 years of being the Queen of Blades and finding out she has the blood of billions on her hands. Her last memories are being abandoned by Mengsk and being carried off to be Zergified before slipping into a nightmare she can't wake up from. The only thing keeping her together after being freed is Jim as she struggles with her overwhelming psionics, the guilt of something she doesn't remember, her burning rage against Mengsk and the presence of the Queen left inside her. And just as she is able to gain hope towards being able to give up her revenge and trying to live a normal life with Jim, she is attacked by the ghosts of her past, ends up loosing control and psionically slaughtering her attackers, she then looses her last grip on her sanity, Jim, and hears a news Broadcast of him being executed by the man who betrayed her as he gloats of victory. As she is listening, a Zergling appears before her and she knows the path she must take as the only thing left to cling to is her revenge now as she must slowly reconstruct who she is and learn to be a conscious and free Queen of Blades. Her storytelling is so powerful. I really liked it. Thanks for this and for reminding me. :)

So the Zerg Queen of Blades Sarah Kerrigan the supposed villain in SC1, was the main protagonist in the whole SC2 story. Her character development: Wings Of Liberty - main antagonist, villain before being cleansed by Xel’Naga artifact Heart of Swarm - anti-hero at the first half, became the good guy in the latter half. Legacy of the Void - became the main protagonist. What a character development. She doesn’t have much friends after all the mass massacre she did in SC1. The only ones who believe in and see the Queen of Blades as the good guy, a friend and valuable ally are Jim Raynor, Matt Horner, Valerian Mengsk and later Protoss leader Altanis while others see her as a monster.

I just realized something...when the bridge is destroyed, and Raynor is cut off from Kerrigan, why didn't she just telepathically pull him to her side after she destroyed the Arkangel, I mean, since she was able to lift two marines and Valerian on the bridge of the Hyperion, and since she was able to telepathically throw Zeratul around on the Leviathan? I also just realized, when Zeratul told Raynor that he would hold Kerrigan's life in his hands, he didn't mean just with Tychus on Charr, he also meant onboard the Moros....

Interesting, I'm seeing more of a similarity between Zerg and Borg than between Flood and Tyranids, even though etiologically, Zerg are inspired by Tyranids. The former group's primary goal is to pursue perfection and assimilate the strengths of its victims. The latter group's goal is to consume all life, worrying about perfection can wait until after everything has been completely absorbed. Then again Flood and Borg are more similar in that they can assimilate electronics, machines and artificial intelligence. Flood and Borg also have the ability to assimilate at lower levels of organization. Zerg is next, and Tyranids last - only after collecting towers and pools have been made can biomass be reabsorbed by the hive fleet. The Zerg occupy a niche where they can replicate their forces much sooner than the Tyranids -- not as early in their mobilization as Flood, BUT they have immediate access to their entire force's catalogue of units as soon as they get to that point, where Flood remain feral for longer, until a certain degree of biomass and intelligence has been collected. All 4 have telepathic abilities but Zerg are unique in having psionic powers. Zerg and Tyranids return to animal like states if separated from the hive mind, but Flood are never animals, only highly dangerous spores, parasites or corpses. Borg have vastly overwhelming abilities to adapt to technological innovations by enemies when it reaches a certain number and level of advancement. Zerg are the fastest at biological adaptation. Flood seem to be the best at absorbing uncorrupted memories and knowledge from hosts, whereas Borg are canonically limited in their capacity to either utilize or suppress this, see Unimatrix Zero. People can be freed from Borg control through the use of technology. Flood alone seem to be the one that allows no reversibility. Tyranids depend on their adaptation to be centralized, whereas Zerg seem to be able to make their changes on the battlefield, likely because of psionic communication triggering gene sequence activation in the units on the battlefield, without need for an evolution pool every time. Zerg need to build on creep, that's one of their weaknesses. Flood and Tyranids have the ability to alter the atmosphere and make it inherently dangerous or infectious to native life. Borg suffer the most from lack of scalability. Tyranids have the most ability to increase their forces, followed by Flood, which can also consume raw biomass and also utilize existing vehicles stolen from assimilated populations. Zerg don't appear to have the same degree of raw biomass incorporation ability, but they have some. Borg don't seem to be able to assimilate biomass at all, when at the level of 1,000 star systems assimilated, only able to assimilate technology, and not remotely. Okay, that's my basic summary of the similarities and differences of these 4 factions.

Yeah, and the best character development. So many compelling personal stories, from Zerg to Humans to Protoss. Okay, not that much Protoss, but still. It was a really unique and different look at the Swarm and I also liked her tutoring of Zagara.
