Gaunter O'Dimm is the best villain, because he stalks you right at the beginning of the game, when you ask him at White Orchard for Yennefer. Then you don't encounter him directly until the DLC. And then when you complete the DLC and do Blood and Wine, you pick up references of other stuff that happened in the world because of him. The spoon Wight from the "Spoontaneous Profits!" quest in B&W was cursed by "a mirror salesman". It's just genius story telling. 3/4 of the players didn't even remember talking to him at White Orchard when HoS came out...

if you played Witcher and read all dialogues then you should have known that same questions were asked by duchess or her general ( don't remember ) and the witcher responded that neither garlic nor silver can't kill them, only other vampires, you can damage them seriously but in order to kill it's essential to be a vampire itself.

Live 1500+ years grieving for the loss of his home; pack, loved ones with the door shut to him and a daily reminder.

That's not what convinces him. He listens when Geralt says that, it's a valid point to him, but what tips him over to helping is Geralt bringing up the fact that the hunters will eventually flood the caves or destroy them altogether, which is something the Unseen Elder actually cares about. Without knowing, Geralt hit right on the money, the one thing the Elder wants above all else is to go home, Regis hints it's why he's here, waiting, getting a few smells and bits of air from the other side from time to time. The mere possibility of the gate being harmed is simply unacceptable to him, hence why he frees Regis immediately after Geralt says that.

your forgetting something ciri said she teleports by thinking of the place she wants to teleport to and closing her eyes and shes there, hard to think of a place you never been to don't ya think. Most likely she would need travel to a world through a portal like avahlac before she could just teleport there though its just a theory as they don't go into to much detail in the game about how it works. but proof that she just cant up and go to any place/world without having been there before can be found in the conversation when geralt finally finds ciri she says at one point when almost caught she teleported to the first comfortable place she could think of skelliga. Also would be no need to open the gate to the world where the white frost is if she could just teleport there anyways.

I mean there are monsters not even witcher as can deal with But ciri is a omnipotent god like being so I’m pretty sure a very pissed of elder vampire would be a good match for her. There are probably more of them somewhere. A invasion of them could be a pretty good reason to be able to play as ciri. Say 5-10 years or more after the events of the witcher 3 when she is much more experianced. Or have her helping the vampire ma get back to their realm is another worthy cause for her.

Yeah but she needs to know where she is going or take a random chance. Randomly finding the vampire world out of all of them is unlikely so she'd need to first go there before teleporting vampires. So she'd need avallach to find some door for her which he has no reason to do and may not even by able to do. If he can and will do it then they need to survive being there for long enough for ciri to teleport them out. Once she's done that then she can teleport the race at least hundreds strong, but possibly thousands, one by one to their world. That is unless the elder only cares about himself but then ciri may want to take them all anyway cos she's nice. Or she has to have a kid which would be super powerful and able to do it in one but would ruin her witcheress dreams for the next almost 20 years. I also doubt she'd want a kid after all the trauma she went through as one. So as cool as 'the witcher 4: ciri helps vampires' would be (I mean that sincerely) it doesn't seem to be possible to me, or at least in the way you suggested.

The only thing that bothered me about Witcher 3 was that the Wild Hunt was actually a circus compared to some of the side characters. The Crones creeped me out way more, Detlaff was a much harder foe and Gaunter O'Dimm was much more terrifying, too. And then the elder towered over them all, you just know he could wipe out entire city without much effort and it just doesn't happen because he doesn't give a shit. I think they should have skipped the whole "demasking of the Wild Hunt" part and kept them mythical figures. Things you don't know are way more scary.

I agree with you but Elder is scary but I dont think he will ever top O'dim. They are very similar in the way that they are so powerful enough to kill you before you blink. But O'dim powers go beyond physical and so he could probably teleport you to a world of suffering and make you immortal so that you can suffer for ever. O'dim can make " death is not the worst thing that can happen " a reality but the most the elder vampire could do it probably kill you. But what makes it scarier is that he doesnt do it but you know he can.

I, on the other hand, think it's perfect. The Wild Hunt is not a tremendous supernatural force, but rather something a very competent witcher with many powerful allies and the support of the world leading's superpower can kill. They aren't even close to the top of the food chain in the Witcher's multiverse. You have ancient creatures a witcher wouldn't go hunting for all the gold in the world, like higher vampires; then you have the guys the higher vampires are scared off, like the Unseen Elders. And finally you have Gaunter O'Dimm, which may as well be a god. And the Crones, which... What the fuck are the Crones anyways?

You know, you can actually do the fable land AND meet the Elder. Here's how: You must first tell Regis you will kill Dettlaff, and go do the whole Orianna thing up to the point she gives you the key that opens the Unseen's cave. Then, you allow Regis to persuade to try the alternative and rescue Syanna, go to fable land, fuck in the clouds etc.. You may later, by yourself locate the Elder's cave on the map and enter it, even get some parts of the red plate armor. But alas, if you enter the chamber with the Elder without Regis, he will fucking kill you. I tried sneaking past him, running in, drinking 5 vials of Black Blood, transforming into Ciri, god mode... *he will kill you*.

In the part where Regis asks Geralt his motives for persuing such an almost impossible contract, if anyone has read the books, then "For you" would definitely be the appropriate answer, since Regis practically died for Geralt at trying to defeat Vylgefortz. Geralt is just paying a big favor for a long (almost) lost friend.

It is likely that they will not convince detlaff once he is summoned without Syanna and the will have to fight and kill him. Something Regis absolutely has no desire to do. So, it is not really (or only) to help his friend. It is again that geralt wants to be a Hero. Something the cynic he has become can´´t admit. He does not want glory anymore. He wants to do the right thing and does not see himself as a hero(something that does not exist in his worldview anymore)

The Unseen Elder is one of my favorite characters. He is in the game for so little time yet they managed to give him so much nuance for his motives and personality. They obviously love their lore and it's awesome. Regis will ALWAYS be my favorite character from the series, but I really do love the Unseen and Detlaff as well.

These people who compared O'Dimm to Elder literally have no idea what the difference is in power level, he is evil incarnate. He can just think of sending elder vampire into his realm and be attached to some table with torture devices operating on their own for endless torment. He can do ALMOST anything. He is beyond what any vampire/human/monster or whatever exists can even imagine. As he said it himself, those who found out what he really is are dead or even worse then dead. Nothing so far compares to his power. Even if elder keeps slicing him to bits and peaces while he stands still, he would just appear behind him unharmed and laugh at him, just before sending him into a endless nightmare (for example). Nobody that we know of so far can hurt O'Dimm, he can only be banished if you beat him in his own game, if you attempt to fight him, you are done, or even worse then done. You need to learn how to spot different power levels, and what you can compare to what.

The writing, the absolute stellar writing is what sets this game series apart from any other RPG. This Unseen Elder, he only spoke a few words yet he conveyed a world of emotions and was a more interesting character than any villain i have seen in many video games. I know what that place Geralt described would be for me (in fact I'm headed there tomorrow morning... wonderful) and I know that I would go mad within the day if I had to stay there for more then just a few hours. The dialogues are so impressive in TW3, cannot descripe it so well... it is so well done, like two real people talking. Not just voice actors in separate rooms reading a text, more like they did this always together, see their reactions, and they really know what and how they have to talk. Its a bit weird, but i feel often a warm feeling in my chest, because in many conversations i hear and feel a believable sympathy when a person likes Gerald or/and is thankful for his help. This gives me as a player a positive feeling, that i have done somenthing good, i helped someone. I hope my poor english is enough to understand what fascinates me :)

It's crazy what a reversal of my expectations at that fork in the story wound up being. I thought the Unseen would be badass and impressive (the gate was really cool though) and helping Syanna would be a lame jail break. Regis gave me a second chance at getting Syanna and I'm so damn glad I took it over meeting with this dude. Learning more about the vampires was really cool but Fairy Tale world was so so much fun.

Fun facts: Gaunter O'Dimm => GOD. Also the character is inspired from Randall Flagg (aka Walter O'Dimm, aka The Man in Black) from Stephen King's Dark Tower books (and also The Stand, and some others in King's meta universe), and Leland Gaunt from Needful Things, who is admittedly just another incarnation of Walter O'Dimm's meta character in King's book. This quest reminds me of the daedric princes in the Elder Scrolls Games where this god-like beings could kill anyone with the blink of an eye, are pratticly immortal and the only way to survive them is trick them (like Gauntier O Dimm), make them fight each other using their power struggle (ESO Meridia vs Molag Bal), or with a great sacrifice ES IV Oblivion Martin Menhures Dagon. I feel like this is such an underrated path, cuz the game basically presses you, knife-to-throat to retrieve Syanna. I finally got curious after so many times being told "No", I finally "caved" and vistited this scary vampire elder and it became my preferred ending cuz it's just...so cool. And the entire city in mourning after is a nice touch.
