Re-reading Baptism of Fire or Regis's first appearance and I noticed a cool detail that translates to the game. After Geralt was easily beaten by Vilgefortz, he was taken to Brokilon and healed up but he still feels a lot of pain especially in his knee. When he and his company encounter Regis for the first time and they spend time at his cottage, Regis notices and discusses Geralts injuries and detects that the healing properties given to him healed the major problems but created a few more elsewhere within his leg. Geralt asks Regis if there is any remedy for it to which Regis replies "Unfortunately, nothing. You'll continue to predict rainy weather unerringly for a long time to come". Could this be why Geralt says "smells like rain" just before it actually rains within the game?

In this game, where is, unfortunately, no man to date, hugging Regis means true love. And the dialogue after visiting the Elder gives a hint in my eyes. After Regis asked, why Geralt put him in danger, he said: "I did it for you. You are in trouble. Trouble Dettlaff brought on you." and Regis answered "Geralt... I don't know what to say...Thank you.". This is so sweet. Further, Regis mentioned at the End by picking mandrake (picking mandrake in the moonshine alone is a hint itself) that everything is beautiful in the moonshine when lit properly. This is a pretty straight comment for Regis, normally very reserved on personal "vampiric" matters and feelings (confessed in the toyshop after the investigation). I think the writer hat hidden some hints for a Geralt/Regis-romance or at least left it open for them to develop feelings.

The vampire language Regis, Dettlaff, and the Unseen Elder (along with the rest of the vampires which belong to the Gharasham tribe) use is based on Etruscan, a language that existed side by side with ancient Greek, whose alphabet came from Greek, and was appropriated by Latin. Etruscan was previously spoken in now known region of Italy. Fitting, considering Toussaint is inspired by both France and Italy. However, the pronunciation of his name probably has nothing to do with it, since his name is read the same way in other slavic languages (or any other language that has the 'write as you speak, and read as you write' rule, plus if we don't know how Latin was pronounced there's no way we can know how Etruscan was pronounced).

One interesting Polish detail about Regis for You guys. I absolutely love specific creative decision about his design, which is completely unintelligible outside Polish culture. Regis's look is strongly inspired by the way poets of Polish romantic era would dress. Especially his hairstyle and sideburns are almost copied from portraits of Adam Mickiewicz. Why is this important? Because poets of that era were obsessed about folklore and loved themes related to vampires (which are of slavic folk origin). Mickiewicz (whom as I said Regis resembles) wrote a work called "Dziady" (which translates to something like "forefathers"). The book takes place after partitions of Poland and talks about the persecution of Poles under the rule of Russian tsar (based on personal experiences of author's collegues BTW). One of the most memorable scenes is when the main character, who is held as a political prisoner signs a song called "vampire song". In the song he claims he'll revenge on his enemies like a vampire - with all of the bloodsucking and so on. It was highly controversial when it first came out, lol.

What i most wonder about in this section of the game is why there cannot be a fourth ending, where instead of killing Detlaff, you weaken him to the state where we can lock him up in the cages in Tesham Mutna's underground chambers designed specifically for vampires, and let him cool off for weeks, months, years, a century maybe.

Here's a fun one about Regis, but not anything lore but the game itself you can do with the follower mod and the console. Use the follower mod to get Regis in his form when he and Detlaf show up just before you find Syana, then use the console to spawn in 20 of the toughest enemy NPC's. Regis will obliterate them quite handily.

This has been one of your videos where I for once didn’t miss a single, tiny detail. I might be biased but she and I did not get along since the moment I met her so It was very easy to let her get killed 🤷 Great job as always on the video!

Dear xLetalis, Regis was the one character of the books, I really desired to see in the game (after the confirmation of Yen and Ciri, of course), but knew exactly i wouldn't because of him being dead and so. So when I started BaW for the first time, when I was chasing Detlaff this person intervened. I sat in front of the screen with a wide-open mouth, grinning inside like a ginger-bread-horse (like we say in German) and thought by myself: No, it can't be, this is not possible, by no means - yet it was Regis. Let's be clear: BaW is pure (book)-fan-service, but the biggest is the implementation of Regis into the game. And I'm loving it. CU twinmama PS: Did you know, that you can read all the posters, many notes, graffiti, and the shop-signs. The majority is written in English (just with glagolitic letters), only in BaW you'll find some written in Polish, esp. the old map of Toussaint and most things related to the bandit "hanses". And whereas in the main game all these writings fit the situation, sadly the devs ran out of time when programming BaW. So you'll find an "armorer"-sign as a name-plate in the crypt with the quarreling couple of ghosts or a poster requesting work of local peasants (from two villages in Velen) at the gate to the statue with the missing crown-jewels. Some of the writings are in mirror-script, esp. the candid graffiti inside the tavern "Alchemy" in Oxenfurt, or all the posters for the Gwent-tournament in Toussaint. The dev(s), who implemented all these writings had a lot of fun, but obviously were afraid someone might censor those profanities in the graffiti, if they found out.

I loved Regis. To be absolutely honest, I never knew that "The Witcher" was a series of books until 4 years ago? So, I met Regis due to Blood and Wine. I swear, I basically fell in love with this man, so compassionate, so intelligent, so powerful in combat; I even loved his alchemy and mandrake brewing hobbies, not to mention his freaking voice acting. It broke my heart to kill Detflaff in my first run, (Not because of Detflaff himself), just because of how sad Regis felt right after. I never wanted him to be banished from Toussant, but I feel like maybe that was the best possible outcome in the end. He survived in the games, true, but I'm afraid to ask, did he survive in the books too? I would be so damn sad if he didn't. Fuck Yen and Triss, Regis is the best (?).

btw, I had already finished the witcher 3 and blood and wine by the time I reached the book, Baptism of Fire where Regis first appears, and I still remember how happy I was when the group was staying in an old elven necropolis and they find Regis hiding under a tombstone. Just from the description I could guess that it was my good natured vampire friend that the group was meeting for the first time, and I think that is the reason why I love that book in the series so much, because we don't only get Regis, but also Zoltan and Milva are introduced and I'd be lying if I said I loved Cahir from the start, but man that battle on the bridge with Geralt instantly made him a favorite of mine.

In the books his bat form is literally just a 'large black bat' that he could only choose to be in during a full moon.
