But there were few moments, when I thought, she´s been through lot, let her have this moment (e.g. when steeling the horses), or cheer her up (khaer morhen snow fight). Also tried to let her have her own mind. She ended as a witcher, very happy to find her alive in the pub. I guess maybe the small moments mattered....

@@rivers6194 Same here. 1. I didn't want her to thrash the lab since I thought that was stupid so I tried to calm her down. 2. When she asked me to come with her to meet the witches I did as she asked. 3. When we were at Kaer Morhen there were two options: -Relax you don't have to be good at everything. -I know what might cheer you up. So how was I supposed to know that the first option would lead to drinking and the other to a snowball fight? I gladly take responsibility for the first two choices. Yeah I admit I seriously fucked up. But when it comes to the third choice I just feel tricked since the text was far too vague. Edit: There are more dialoge choices that matter but these are the ones that lead me to getting the bad ending.

Well, the emperor and Geralt don't really have a relationship that's on good terms, do they. It's not like the leader of an empire will confess in some emotional outpouring to the rival of his daughter's affections. But in the Witcher ending the emperor does seem pained and concerned, asking you if Ciri had said anything about him before, and if you tell him Ciri regreted not being able to talk to him, he responds with an earnest concern. In fact, when you tell him his daughter is dead, he flat out tells you he wishes to never see you again for that very reason, because you are the face of that loss he's just suffered. As with all things Witcher, relationships are complicated. Ciri has a strained relationship with her father, but as the empress ending shows, when given the chance both seems to reconcile and help each other out with Nilfgaard.

xLetalis witchers have a bit weaker emotions, they are more calm i should say. They are designed to be monster hunters, and its not really required you panic in fight with monster, do some stupid mistake and die, or go into some rage do something stupid and then get sourself into trouble. So they have a bit weaker emotions, or like more stable. But they are still capable of emotions, they are still capable of love, empathy etc. They are just not so easily moved by things like normal humans.

The Lodge wanted to marry her off to make her and her future offspring their puppets (hello, Triss, who was helping achieve that). Eredin at one point wanted to fuck her instead of their King before ending up killing him (with Ciri's unknowing help, if I'm not mistaken). I must say there was a lot of agro sexual tension in the books between Ciri and Eredin. In the books it has always been more about her baby than her own potential really.

Couple that with the fact that on my first playthrough I get the worst possible ending no matter how which options I take in the final dialog (I tried, seems they are all pretty much irrelevant) and there you have the reasons why I hate the ending of this game.

In my first playthrough, I'd already known that Ciri either ends up dead, a Witcher or as the Empress. I thought about it long and hard even before the game brought it up. My thoughts are this: Ciri, as the Empress, seems to be the logical conclusion to the series. She would've had a positive impact on Nilfgaard as a Monarch, and it also goes to show that she picks the choice on her own. But is that really good for her? Is that really good for the Ciri that we get to know throughout the game? Ciri always came across as a free spirit. Someone who loves to travel and explore, meet new people. Seeing her on the throne, bound by her duties as a Monarch would feel as though Ciri has been shackled. Something that Ciri iterates time and again is how she wants lead a 'normal' life; Away from being a princess, away from people who are after her because of her abilities. I can always imagine the adventures that Ciri would have if she chose the path of a Witcher, the people whose lives she would change and ultimately we, as Geralt, can hope that she'd be happy. There is one thing that I disagree with what Ciri said in this particular ending. The fact that she, as the Empress, would have a greater impact on the world. While that can be said to be the case, she is forgetting literal antithesis to that notion. Geralt himself. Over the course of the games that we've played as Geralt (Witcher 1,2 & 3) we can see just how great an impact that he, as a Witcher, has had on the world. It can even be said that he has had more of an influence on the state of the world than a Monarch has had. It isn't as obvious, due to the fact that he's 'just' a Witcher and not some King whose actions are easier to pin down, but nonetheless they have a ripple effect on grave matter. Also, let's not forget the power of small acts of kindness that Geralt performs (provided you didn't role-play as a pseudo bandit-witcher), even if it was just completing a contract for a particularly troublesome monster in some obscure 'little' village. Those actions have their own power. I don't think that either ending is 'better' than the other. Though I have to give CDPR props for creating a narrative which ends up being good according to each individual. What I mean by that is that it is up to us, as the player, to think up what is best for Ciri. Almost as though she actually IS our daughter. And that is what sets this game's ending apart from most others. You may think that Ciri should grow up and assume the responsibilities as an Empress, or you may think that Ciri should be a free spirit and walk the path, the same as Geralt. Neither choice is worse than the other if viewed from a distance. Yet, we will have our preference for what appeals to us more; And that, I think, is what makes the ending worth the entire journey.

So I'm basically cycling back and forth through all the stages of grief, as I approach the White Orchard Inn to sit down with Yen and have a deppresing convo about how our adoptive daughter is dead b/c we failed her and oh btw peace bitch I'm off with Triss. When Ciri peeked her face through the hoody, I swear I felt elation like never before in a game. I swear to you this man was practically at tears of joy over these two characters who he thought he'd never see together again. Most rewarding end game experience ever personally 11/10

yeah me too, her "is it done?", it was her voice ♥. I was like "did she really die?" Could not believe my choices sucked that much, when she entered the White Frost, I said: "Thats it, she will die, she was not meant to go in there and I was the idiot for not doing the right choices" I did not even say anything to her at that moment (the option to stay quiet at the game). Later on, this sword master gives you a sword with her name, I took as "now her spirit lives in this sword" lol then I see Geralt giving the sword to her and her expression was so adorable, that ending made me so happy. :D

I just recently finished my first play through, and let me tell you -- this game's story telling, and just the overall experience in general, put it within my top 5 games off all time. It absolutely threw me! As my first play through, I didnt look up any guides or how-to's, so I could fully experience the game. They left such a cliffhanger after she went into the tower! And when Geralt visits the Emperor? Tells him she's dead? I actually believed it! I was heartbroken! And when the scene came where he asked the people if they needed help with the wagon, I was sure I had the worst ending ever. I was PISSED! I was hopeful when it said to meet someone at the fort, but when I got the sword and gave him the jewels, I thought Geralt purchased the sword simply to commemorate Ciri. Sooo bummed out. Then? Tells me to go to the Inn. I was thinking it was going to be a romance scene (I got tricked into the Yen & Triss "threesome", so I had no romance ending for my first play through), but when I get there? CIRI??!! OH MY GOOOOOD! Threw me for SUCH a loop, and I can't remember a game that brought out such involvement and emotion from the player. Hands down an amazing game. Time for a NG+ run on Death March! No HUD! 10/10!

Finally had the time to finish this game. Heard a lot of Witcher along the years, played the first and second a bit but never got the grasp of the series. When I first started Witcher 3 I did not know what to expect, but damn the story is beautifully written and executed. I have to say that the ending got me a bit sad at first seeing Ciri going against the frost but then I had a big smile on my face when I realized she is alive and well and chose to become a witcher. Got around 60+ hours spent in the game already and plan to play the expansion as well. Amazing game all in all.

The ending where Ciri is never seen again and the last Crone is killed is the best ending: Your interpretation of the game ending is all that matters. The game said at the end that CIRI DISAPPEARS . It does not say she dies. Geralt thinks that she is dead. But he thought that ciri is dead a few times within the main game as well only to be happily proven wrong later. At one point geralt even thinks that CIRI is Una. Of course he is proven wrong at a later stage when Una turns out to be avallache. So, Yes Ciri has disappeared but She is not dead by any means. She has simply chosen to not return back to Geralt (or Nilfgard) in this particular ending of the game. Whether this is a good or bad step depends upon your interpretation. I personally think this step of hers is better than the ones shown in other endings.

I just finished the game for the second time, and once again I had this ending, and it was great Many may say that it's a ''fairy tale'' ending, and doesn't fit the books, but for me it's the ideal ending. Ciri is a free spirit, she makes it clear that she wants freedom, and she finally has it. No Wild Hunt, no Avalach, no lodge of sorceresses, just her following the equal path of the one she loves and admires the most. PS: In Blood and Wine, if you get a visit from Ciri at the end, if she became a witcher, you clearly see that she is much happier than if she had become an empress

The thing is that the witcher can both serious and light-hearted. Its not that this ending isn't realistic, just that usually the way witcher stories go is choosing the lesser of two evils, or being pragmatic. Ciri would be less happy as an empress yes, but she'd be better than her father or who would be next in line to take up his position. Finished mt 3rd play through today and Ciri became Empress of Nilfgaard, Nilfgaard conquered Redania and gave Temeria independence. Cery's ruled Skellige, Keira and Lambert stayed together, and Geralt moved to Kovir with Triss and lived happily ever after. Def my favorite ending so far!

Per Julian Lundberg Tande Tbf hjalmar is the king skellige wants. They get to keep their “fangs of yore” and maintain their raider/warrior culture. Cerys is the leader skellige needs in order the prosper but that’s only one perspective. The isles lived like that for centuries and they’ve been doing just fine keeping to tradition. There’s really no reason to interfere other than to “civilise” skellige and suppress its unique and complex culture turning it into something it’s not.

The battle at Kaer Moren, I was thinking... this must be it... then fighting the wild hunt... then meeting the emperor... I ended up with the good ending and I was overjoyed. Then depressed that the greatest game I have ever played is over.

The endings would be 100x better if they implement a companion option like in skyrim. Imaging being able to ask Triss, Yen, Ciri, and other chars to do leftover quests with you. Its not that hard to implement since the game already has the companion mechanic (doing various quests with npcs). It's just sad how all the chars in the game disappear after you complete the main quests, kaer morhen is so empty. I'm counting on modders on this.

I know this is an old video. And I know this game is old. But I have to say, it is an emotional masterpiece. I’ve played quite a few games and I have to say this is the first 1 that has immersed me in such a way I felt the emotions, I carried the consequences of actions. I felt bad. I felt good. I was happy sad mad jealous angry all by the end of this game. I got this ending without looking up the “how to’ but I have to say, the emhyr part made me so sad I teared up and almost cried. I love this game more than any other. I replay it often. I have gotten all endings on my own so now when I replay I know which way to go if I want to be “heartless Geralt” or savage or friendly or compassionate. It’s amazing how many endings there truly are. Such a fantastic game.

I wonder how the Netflix series will impact The Witcher 4? Or if it even will? To me, this first trilogy seems like nothing more than a prelude to introduce The Witcher, the real witcher, Ciri. This was her childhood. These were the people that raised her. This is why she is who she is. Now, let's see what she does now that the old ways of being and becoming a Witcher are dead and gone. Who will she meet? Who will join Ciri in the next generation of Witchers? How will SHE interact with the mages who always seemed to like to treat Witchers as glorified bodyguards and errand boys. The previous witchers had a kind of magic, but it was nothing compared to the sorceresses, but Ciri? With her time-travelling/teleporting abilities? With a mother-figure like Yennifer raising her and teaching her? Treating Ciri the same way would be a big mistake. I think we've just seen the tip of the iceberg for The Witcher series, with Ciri as the main protagonist, and likewise with Ciri realizing she has so much more power than she knows. And I think we'll see Geralt die, having lived a happy life with Yennifer (or Triss if the game allows you to import and alter canon - FTR I prefer Triss as well) but die tragically none-the-less to spur Ciri into action. Perhaps if Witcher 4 were to play out something akin to Mass Effect 2, where you assemble a rag-tag group of Witchers to take on a suicide mission, the game could be quite successful? Maybe not just Geralt dies, but Eskel and Lambert as well. The game could start with the death of Eskel, and Ciri investigating the death, dealing with the paradoxically lovable asshole that is Lambert before he too is killed, freaking Ciri out and rushing to Geralt's side for fear he may be the next target, and try and failing to save his murder as well. As a result Ciri is then obliged to rebuild the Order of the Wolf. Maybe some of the sorceresses banded together to oversee a new school of witchers or just take over another school like the order of the viper (from where Letho came) and they're using them to wage war or some other purpose heretic to what Witchers are supposed to stand for. They proclaim ironically that Ciri is the heretic and all those who aided in raising and allowing her to profane the Witcher name need to be put to death and thus Ciri feels the need to combat this with her own school, and to avenge the death of Geralt. In the meantime we're meeting new and engaging characters each with special abilities that lend themselves to being great witchers in their own right. Perhaps one of them (or all, but only one per playthrough) may be a true love interest for Ciri as well. And in the finale we see Ciri lead this new order of the wolf on an assault to take down the heretic witchers and the sorceresses who led them. Hell, I'd buy that game, it sounds awesome to me, but maybe you'd hate it, I don't know, but that's NOT the point. The main point here is simply this: TL;DR There is a LOT of great options out there to build on this series with Ciri stepping into the role of the main protagonist as THE Witcher, regardless of whether or not you like my spitball of an idea for a followup game.

I usually pick this ending. Some people say that Ciri becoming the empress is the best ending because now she’s safe. My rationale is, this is the best ending because it’s her choice to become a Witcher. Ciri has had everyone around her making her choices without her having any say. Regardless of whether she’s in more danger as a Witcher, it is her choice.

For me, Ciri being the empress is the ending I chose for 2 reasons. First is to lay out all her cards and let her choose her path. Knowing how it ends and refusing her to meet Emhyr is like manipulating her to choose the life of a Witcher. Second, No witcher died on his own bed. The witcher life is not the best lifestyle, certainly not one you would like for your daughter. So yeah, empress Ciri is bittersweet but it is Ciri's choice.

I agree. I got the empress ending and Ciri did say that she chose it herself. It is also the best for the empire since the persecution of mages and non-humans ends and Temeria gets self-ruling.

For me Empress ending feels like natural progression for Ciri, making her mind up, again, to sacrifice her own wishes for greater good. Being a witcher, always on trail solving troubles, is a life of freedom she loved, but as an empress, she can have a lot more impact on the world than she ever could as a witcher.

I have this cool idea that if Ciri will appear in form of an easter egg or even a small quest in CDPR's upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077. Ciri can travel between worlds so it's possible in a way I just think it would be rly awesome
