One thing I like to do for my language in order to create new words is translation. I take my favourite song/poem/ book and I try to translate them. That way I get new words and also practice my sentences. I keep all words in an spreadsheet as well, but because I lost all of them once I'm also writing them on paper. 😊

A language amongst a small group of friends and family is rather easy I find. It tends to grow more organically, though the "downside" is it will leave your control as other people use it. So that is something to consider if you are wanting to use a language this way. Personally, this isn't something that has bothered me, although we have had some irregular verbs introduced and thus have had the fun challenge of rangeling their declenations.

Superlatives and comparatives in English depend on word length. Words of 1 or 2 syllables can usually (but not always) freely add -er and -(e)st. (c.f. wise - wiser - wisest, but unwise - *unwiser - *unwisest instead we must use more unwise, most unwise.) 3 syllable words can sometimes take these suffixes and sometimes take 'more' and 'most', often one is preferred over the other with any given word, e.g. more expensive, most expensive. Words of more than 3 syllables must always use 'more, most'.

This is so cool. I been working on making my own language since I was little (Is just a hobby) I always look forward to find things that I may miss or new concepts that may improve it. I made around 1500 words already 😊 I don't know why, but if I having a hard time when is hard to concentrate and I am feeling like my brain is just not working, I work a bit on my language, make some new words or change some old one, and after that my brain starts "working" again and faster and better. Is like exercise or brain massage. 😊

That is awesome! Keep doing it however it works! I struggle with focus too, so I only do what I can for as long as I can.

Two things that i am really thinking about: irregular verbs and irregular plural. Specially since some verbs eventually change through time due to their use in a society. Verbs like 'to be' and 'to see'.

You could do vowel harmony in your comparative and superlative: urtumum/ortomom (ᴄᴏᴍᴘᴀʀ); artamat (sᴜᴘᴇʀ). If not in the standard dialect of it, perhaps a relictual formation from either the Old High version of your lang, or in a dialect they speak in the valley beyond the mountains…

The very first comment is that you need a language for communication, so to create "your own" lg is a nonsense. In order to communicate one must use a lg which the other person knows. But there is a great, great BUT... The lg constantly changes. This forces us to loose constantly opportunity to understand others, as if they were from a different planet. Why? The happens due to a list of reasons: 1. The society is not very conservative and the lg of the elder ones is not appealing to the young generation (But the lg in the past also had changed, in spite of the high social position of the eldery generation). 2. The lg clashes with the other lgs. Both lg must undergo changes (But in the past we observerd the lgs which had changed by themselves). 3. The bigger number of users the faster rate of changes. (and this is always true, but we can observe the villige communities, within which there can also be observed the proces of change in lg they use). 4. The simpler lg the faster rate of change. (the case of nikaragua orphancy children, who invented a complately new lg because the speach they used to use was too simple [in fact the speech they used to use was so simple that is it was not a lg itself]) As nowedays the number of lg users is extreme, the rate of changes is, and will be really fast. This means that the lg we use will become imposible for mutual understanding. So, the communication will be faulty. And that is, or will be nonsense. This way, we need a language which will strictly keep to rules and regulations, with practicaly no changes, even in the field of phonology. This way we will be able to understand each other without misunderstanding. The best candidates to such role are artificial, or constructed languages. I believe we need constructed languages, or at least one of them to clair and doubtless communication. Such lg should be complicated enough, in order to convey different meanings, as well as different shades of meanings, have a fixed list of words and their meanings, which will change only when necessary, and be very regular, to ease the process of learning of such a lg. One of such languages could be esperanto, which to me seems to be too simple and not rich enough to convey all shades of meanings. Quenya could be a pretty good candidate of a new lg for mankind. However, I think of something better constructed, fairy complicated, and imitating the original mode of speaking of the people of the beginning of our journey in time. My language, if I ever created such, will be complex and complicated, pretty easy to learn (compared to natural languages) due to regularities, and have a nice fonology based on slavic phonology (my native one). It will have regularities, like esperanto, but not neceserily exactly like esperanto, and above all, it will be beautiful, ideal fo music and poetry. One can employ such a language as a tool for a fantasy novel, or so, or to cipher something when necessary. I believe, that because of the pace of change in language, in the future, English will stop being a useful tool for international communication, as it will evolve into a few seperate languages, so I suppose, it will open a great opportunity for esperanto, which due to fixed rules, will be just the opposite of what English is now (it will not change). I like your film, which has inspired me to this simple commentary. And by the way, slovene language is beautiful.
