I live close to the Bay Area and know exactly what you’re talking about, yes the food is pretty good but the food in Mexico is on another level! Find the areas with recent immigrants not second or third generation. I live in the Bronx nyc and when we first moved here there was only like one Mexican restaurant (which was ok but not great) and now we have like 3 legit restaurants and a two taco trucks (this is just in my neighborhood btw, not in the entire Bronx). I’ve been to “Mexican” restaurants in Manhattan and the tourists love them, but I’ve had better authentic stuff, well my family is Mexican so that helps lol

I love Jamaica! When I was younger we used to drive from New Jersey to Jalisco. It took us days but it was worth it. On our way back to Jersey we encountered rain and then realized we had sacks of Jamaica on top of our van. Needless to say, nature made the Jamaica juice for us.
