We started off in the morning in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, and the plan was to drive all the way to Merida, the capital of Yucatan state. But on the way, we’d stop off to eat some amazing Mexican food, and also visit some attractions in Yucatan like a cenote and Chichen Itza. It turned out to be one of the most amazing days of my Mexico trip - here’s everything we did and ate.
Tacos De Cecina Estilo Yecaixtla - Before leaving Playa Del Carmen, we desperately needed some taco nourishment, and so we stopped at Tacos De Cecina Estilo Yecaixtla, a street food stall that’s known for their beef tacos. I tried a few of their tacos, all of which were outstanding, and overflowing with meat!
Price - 74 MXN ($3.97) for my plate
Cenote X'canché - We drove towards Valladolid, and not too far from there is a cenote known as Cenote X'canché. The hard thing about Yucatan and visiting a cenote is that there are so many to choose from, but since we had a car, I wanted to go to one that was a little more off the beaten path and quiet. It proved to be an amazing experience, so quiet and peaceful.
Entrance - 50 MXN ($2.69), Bicycle ride - 100 MXN ($5.37) per person
La Tía de Kaua - There’s a Mexican food Yucatan dish known as poc chuc, that’s one of the ultimate dishes from the region - usually made of pork marinated and grilled or cooked over a hot fire griddle. In the sleepy town of Kaua, we stopped at La Tía de Kaua for some incredible poc chuc and freshly ground habanero tomato salsa. It was such an insanely delicious meal.
Total price - 300 MXN ($16.11) for 4 adults
Chichén Itzá - Finally, to wrap of the day of Mexican food and attractions in Yucatan, we drove to Chichen Itza. It’s one of the most visited attractions in Mexico and it’s an amazing sight to see. We arrived in the late afternoon, and luckily it wasn’t too busy.
Entrance price - 242 MXN ($13) per person
Mérida - Finally we arrived to Merida at night. Stay tuned for the next Merida street food tour!

We can't afford to travel, but have enough money for youtube. We ask ourselves in the morning "Where do we want to go to eat today?" We watch you go all over the world, and dream we are there, thank you for this it means so much to live vicariously through you.

MY TUBE the only Mexican food I had in Egypt were the churros with chocolate sauce in the mall. I was surprised it was actually good. Egyptians and Mexicans have some similar spices but I found that when I visited Tunisia and Algeria the level of spice and flavor was more like what I’m used to. We use New Mexico red and green chili in everything (like the harissa inspired dishes of Africa).

Noé Rodriguez thank you for the in depth explanation. I am Apache and Navajo (indigenous tribes) here in USA. I also have other mixed blood from my father’s side. No matter where spices, food or other items came from (or stolen), I just enjoy seeing the similarities in our cultures and food we all share. When I was in the Middle East, I was able to cook for friends and show them a little bit of my own culture. I do believe we should build upon similarities vs tearing each other down. Wonderful travelers like Mark and chefs that donate their talents in helping out others (like José Andrés) are what bring peace and happiness between countries. Thank you, again, for your kindness and insight. Stay safe and well. 🌸🌼

Not entirely true... Yes we don't eat them ALL the time, but any time is good for a taco, not only weekends. You will be amazed at how crowded taco stands are any day. Close to my house there are some taco stands open 24/7! They can be a whole meal or just as a sidedish. Very often I like to eat a chicharron, avocado or nopales taco to accompany whatever else I am eating, be it a soup, steak, salad, etc.

Salivating all the way from a freezing and windy London.Utterly spectacular that in an industrial estate on the side of a motorway a gem of Mexican cuisine erupts from a tent-just wonderful. That sausage and fried pork heaven. Those salsas, angelic . The cool water in the forest,a must. More visions of Mexico beyond the drivel we are fed and which enlightens us to the wonderful people of Mexico and its culture. Just magnificent.

It was awesome to see it from a birds eye perspective. It looked like a pocket of paradise in a forest. Mark you and Ying have an incredible ability to get the footage needed to make a very professional video. sergeigen1 I have seen that movie, I've got the DVD of it so I've watched it a few times. It was quite powerful and showed the harsher side of people but also the determination of a few to help the human race to continue in the future. Any movie with a child's laughter is worth watching because it reminds us that we are all human and should support each other. I think it's the pure innocence of a child. As adults we seem to be inhibited and don't often have a proper laugh to the point where our cheeks hurt.

I love your videos but I really feel you need to ask more on how they traditionally eat it. You might get a better experience. Just an example when you ate at “La Tias” they served you the black beans and the trimming to go with. You didn’t put any of on it. you should have put the cilantro, onion, radishes, and squeezed lime into the beans... it would have taken the saltiness of the beans away. Take a bite of the taco and a spoonful of beans. But I am super excited that you are in Mexico. You have to go to Mexico City!! Enjoy!!! Provecho! Saludos a la familia!
