I used to love these, and, still do, but lost track over the years, and, dealing with cancer, this year! Coming back to it, it's still as great as I remembered it, and, still holds great promise! I even wonder how this MIGHT fare as a live action movie or series!? Something to consider! But, so far, I have no major problems with the story or characters(Zoey did change appearance quite a bit in the day or two, that She, Dirge, and, Cerberus, were travelling together!)and, would like to see what was done with the hired gun character, we saw in the closing moments of this series.

Gallows (the hired gun character) is actually in the comics, so if you want to know what happens between Dead on Arrival and Dead Ahead you can look for the comics, there are 4 issues released.

Last month I had came across the "Xombie: Reanimated" Graphic novel book in an Asian nerd-culture book-thrift store. The book I got totally made me remember this series I watched on Newgrounds way back in 2010. So I had to binge watch this whole series before I even read the first page of the book. And I gotta say from episode 1 to episode 10, The series holds up. The action is good in all it's Adobe Flash glory. The character's are cool to behold. And I look forward to reading/watching more of Xombie. Or in other words: Catch up to what I had been missing out on.

Still crazy to imagine Dirge would've had a double blade shovel staff and one of the hand of gods robotic arms. We still got a nice upgrade to the shovel via Dead Ahead so I ain't complaining!

I don't know how my father watched this on a flat screen TV when I was a kid, but I remembered this series all this time but could never find it after so many years. but now thanks to letterboxd I have found it.

I believe it was at one point available on Netflix, as the series did come out in dvd, I'm sure you probably heard a different soundtrack, considering it was copyright free music, while the current uploads here are the originals from newgrounds.

Why did zoe's appearance change so much?

Short answer: the artist's skill improved over the series, and so did his character's designs. Long answer: Xombie series was in production for about 4-5 years, and from early episodes you can tell that this was one of James earliest projects, his animation skills were on a learning curve and so he would redraw characters often to improve how the looked over time, this caused Zoe to have a few unexplained bruises on her, Dirge gaining a new face and so on. Over time James Farr also worked on a comic book series for Xombie and the designs of the comic and the animation had to match, so there were new redraws for the characters in later episodes.

If you're wondering what happened to the original uploads from newgrounds, I'm not sure. I believe James Farr wanted to release the Dead on Arrival book and dvd without the copyrighted soundtrack, he entered a parnership with epicleveltv and reuploaded the copyright free versions on their channel. This is conjecture, and might not be what happened, but it's my best guess.
