I had no experience with the Deus. I bought the Deus II, watched some videos, created a Calabash’s hot program with pitch, silencer on 0, reactivity at 2.5 and took it to some awesome sites that have been hunted to death with heavy iron. And no, I don’t get out but maybe once a month. It was awesome and yes, you can learn it and kick butt.

Jeremy tells the good, bad and ugly about the Deus 2 . He puts out a ton of ordinary live digs . His results are anything but ordinary . He simplifies a lot of complicated areas of the Deus 2 nuances. Todays message was great , but a heartbreaker in the same breath . Reality this is not a turn on and go detector. You actually have to read the manual and the biggest lesson from Jeremy’s videos is that you have to test a lot in YOUR soil conditions. Jeremy has a lot of experience in detectors and different kinds of hunt situations. I didn’t find out about Jeremy until the Deus 2 came out . Jeremy in my humble opinion is an excellent person to test machines . Jeremy thanks a lot for testing the Deus 2 and posting your results here .

i used my deus 1 for 5 years and waiting on my deus 2, i agree that it takes a lot of time to fine tune and be on edge what the machine is capable of, but the default programs are good "enough" for beginners or recreational hunters. Maybe too expensive for the occasional hunt but the weight and flexibility has costs too so i would highly recommend it to people that want to get into detecting if they are willing to want to learn the machine and want to understand the technicality of the thing. Just my opinion, but i think its a great all-rounder too, it just has a lot of things other detectors dont have.

I am hoping that watching you and others learning the D2 and posting videos will help with the learning curve.

That could be a wise choice! The 600s of good machine I found many very good things with it since April and about 86 rings. Found enough rings with the 600 to buy the Deus 2.if you really think you need it,buy it but the 600 will do a good job if you are a weekend hunter only. Great information as always from your videos. I really wanted a Deus 2 detector, but after listening to your advice about the learning curve and time needed to learn it, I went with the Simplex Detector based on watching many of your past videos about it. I'm a couple years away from retirement and hopefully I can upgrade to the Deus 2 at that point once I've learned what I can from using the Simplex. Thank you again for your honest unbiased reviews good or bad with all the detectors you use. Looking forward to gaining more experience using all this information you have shared. 😎👍👍👍

don't rule out the D2 so soon. I'm probably like you in the amount of time detecting, 66 y/o, but I love the weight, quality build, etc about the D2 and I'm still getting it. Check out some of Gary Blackwell videos, he goes slow and shows if you stay in the basic preprograms, you can and will do fine with the D2 We are not "professionals" like Jeremy is, he is very anal in a good way for the type of detecting he does, but we don't have to be that way to be successful and have fun. He is a great guy and I do appreciate all the time and dedication he shares with us, thank you Jeremy if you are reading this, I look forward to your tutorials and training.

@kenny D Thank you Kenny.. It was definitely what I wanted, but at $1600, I was afraid it would be wayyy over my head in learning it AND another expensive lesson learned the hard way...Years ago I purchased a Minelab Explorer 2 detector which was expensive at the time and it was a "28" multi frequency detector, but had a poor build quality in my opinion. The lower shaft even cracked in the 1st week of use. I hated it..it was like a constant Flute in my ears..I ended up sending it back to Kellyco and traded it for a Whites DFX. I know the Simplex isn't the most expensive or the newest technology out there, but after watching Jeremy's 400 plus videos on it, I'm hoping it will out perform my Whites DFX and give me plenty of enjoyment with it. That and I'm looking at a total left knee replacement soon, so I'm not sure how that's going to affect my future with this hobby. The Simplex bundle with a free SP24 coil was a great deal at $339.. Only time will tell how this all plays out good or bad for me !
@goldsmith0012 жыл бұрын
Another thing Mike, Jeremy does not look at numbers on the remote, he goes mainly by sound and no sight, that is one reason why he makes it more complex than it has to be. Use the remote and read the numbers and it will be like most other detectors, such as the Simplex or Equinox. I think he is doing a disservice to some by saying it is so complex and that it will take thousands of hours to master, that's not true. He hunts 7 days a week, 4-8 hours a day, only 1 in a 10,000 detectorists do that. He is in a league of very few, he. Again, I like Jeremy, but we cannot compare ourselves to him, he is an elite detectorist that we cannot or should not compare ourselves to. Have fun and detect when you can and with what you want to use.
@goldsmith0012 жыл бұрын
We definitely have things in common Mike, I bought the Etrac new a few years ago and still have it. It is so heavy though that I will sell it to help finance my D2 I didn't mind the sounds though, but this old body is not what it used to be and I deal with a lot of pain. I also bought the Simplex with the extra coil at Christmas time. That way if someone wants to go hunting with me, I will have a simple detector that they can use. @@MichaelO1958

From what I've seen of Jeremy's videos thus far is that the D2 is far more proficient in locating : iron, nails, can slaw, foil and pull tabs. So I look forward to a video of Jeremy digging NOTHING but coins and maybe some "jewelry".

I honestly don't think there is a metal detector on the market that can do all of that. I normally discriminate out everything under a nickel. And I know i might be missing out on small gold. But I'm ok with that, because I hate digging up a ton of foil.

As a Deus 1 user. I haven't watched his videos yet except this video. Many detectorist believe in digging every signal. That is fine. When I got the Deus 1 and watched many videos about it and finally put it to use, I recorded all the finds information. The VDI, the Tone because I use multi-tone and the depth of target. I did this for a while and it really and truly helped me with becoming the discrimination. I mean I can now swing over a target and with the combined information I decided what to dig. This is learning the machine. It takes time. I don't dig all signal. It made me a very formidable detectorist. The Deus 1 is amazing and I can't wait to get the Deus 2 this coming week!!

The small screen is for a reason...Deus is a tonal machine. After all saltwater hunts, it is best to rinse off detectors with tap water. No other manufacturer has a 5 year warranty on a metal detector!! I am not a fan how the coil wire is rigged to the coil and remote too.
