Identifying ferrous metals with the XP DEUS 2 metal detector

The DEUS II from XP Metal Detectors is a detector that combines performance and detection comfort. With the appropriate settings, it allows you to easily identify any type of ferrous material! Ive had my Deus 2 for 5 weeks now but only 1 to 2 days a week useage and what really stumped and confused me what determining when I have a ferrous target under my coil, mostly a lot of rusty nails creating a halo effect leading to a high Target ID. I was starting to get frustrated until I watched this video and this gentleman has explained and shown me more than all the other videos and articles regarding iron falsing put together! I put everything he teaches here to the test the last two days and recognized 90% of the time when I had ferrous or even aluminum bottle caps under my coil vs a coin. Clearly the best video and teacher Ive seen to date, you can hear the muffled tone with aluminum and clipping of tones with iron. Smh at what an elegant machine this, Ive gotten the best audible results in the Full Tones mode so anyone just starting out Id highly recommend starting there.

Very helpful and will attempt to translate this knowledge or our beach hunting and our videos as well. We're still fairly new to the DEUS 2, but trying to become a master on this detector. It's impressed us many times so far -smalls, deep, oddities. Like all detectors it has it's own set of quirks but still one of the tops thus far. Glad we have it. -Cheers from The Detecting Duo.

In addition to your excellent tips ... I add another one ... When over an iffy high signal ... I also pump the coil up n down over it... That tends to show the correct tone n VDI

I pre-ordered my Deus 2 and have been using it for 3 years now. Sensitive FT and Sensitive are my favorite programs. I do have to modify them a little, depending on the conditions, but the tones speak to you unlike any other metal detector I've ever used. Thank you XP for making the greatest detector on the planet. How do you interpret a one- way signal. For Example: You sweep your coil from left to right and you have a good signal and right to left with no signal. Do you turn on it to see if you have a two way signal?

Hello, If we have any doubt about a target, we dig ! ;)

For coins co mingled with iron, I would use a silencer from 0 t0 2 for separation and you would lose separation from a setting of 3 and above. You would still hear ferrous targets and a silencer of 5 the door would be closed and all you would hear is pure targets. My question is that if you use the silencer settings at 3 and above to determined ferrous targets, what about the possibility of good targets next to the ferrous, you would lose them. Probably, you are referring to targets that are not producing a good tone.

That's why we strongly recommend using the silencer at the lowest value possible in difficult conditions like you described ;)

This video just proves how poor the deus 2 really is when it come to ferus .. every person i have watched on youtube who support the deus 2 will not knock the machine and its faults .. hopefully at some stage a update for the machine to take out the ferus falsing will happen. but when . i love the deus 2 build but. you need to sort out the Falsing on targets. .. example Iron nail with a round head coming at 72 75 and a nice sound you do a 360 around the target then you will dig it then you find it is one more false signal .. .. Iron volume its not a volume its a discrimination is it not. or have i got that wrong. .. this machine leave me with more questions than answers ... who want to dig iron really who want to dig iron .. why cant it just be blanked out with out affected other targets .. minelab can do it why not deus2 ..

Hello. I am from Iran and I have an XP 2 device. I think the XP 11:13 loop is very weak for this device and it does not work at a lower depth. Now I have a question for you: Is XP company thinking about Or do you have an idea about making the XP2 loop bigger so that it is about 50cm higher, like a 13:15 loop? Please, a video on how to get more depth with this loop with the XP device now.
